Christian Walton signing for Ipswich, who sit 21st in league one without a win to their name.

God help them.

As for us , we're going to have to hope that something fairly dramatic happens over the next 27 and a bit hours, 12 out, no Armstrong replacement and only 2 young loanees with barely any senior experience in, plus Pickering who was signed in January.

Oops..... edit thirty nine hours.

But looking on the bright side, a fairly good start to the campaign.

I know we have a very high wage to turnover ratio but can anyone enlighten me why this is so?

I mean, we have a very small squad now and other than Dack, i cannot think of anyone else who could earning significantly more than the average championship player.

If we talk about turnover, the crowd ban affected every other club equally last season and looking at the 2019/ 20 numbers, we still have bigger crowds than 1/3 of the league https://www.worldfootball.net/attendance/eng-championship-2019-2020/1/ so why are we so badly affected?

I accidentally cropped the picture badly and can’t be bothered changing but the top figure is millions turnover and the bottom figure is wages alone

That’s before any other operating expenses, which btw for 19-20 came to nearly 9m giving us a 20m shortfall.

Been told dingles looking at Nyambe as backup right back. They think bid of less than £1m will be enough to get him.

The owners and board are stupid but stupid enough to sell Nyambe to our rivals near deadline day for £1m I don't think they are that stupid

In a sentence he said Ayala was a good defender but wasn’t a good fit for our possession based passing game. That’s after he’d signed him on a three year contract.

No, no, no that can't be right because previously honest Tony has come out and blamed Ayala's previous clubs for ruining his fitness by not playing possession football. Surely he isn't changing the narrative?

Since those figures we have released Williams, Mulgrew, Bell, Bennett, Evans, Holtby, Downing and Armstrong, along with last season's raft of loans.

We haven't signed anyone, nor have we even so much as signed any senior player up to new and improved terms.

Our ticket prices are now among the highest in the league. Until recently our crowds were actually similar to quite a few others (though won't be for long at this rate).

So something doesn't add up. There's no argument that we had a relatively high wages to turnover ratio last year, but with those departures that really shouldn't be the case any longer. If it is there is something wrong.

Even if the issue here is restrictions and the ratio being too high for comfort, that doesn't stop permanent deals being done. This notion that any permanent transfer is prohibitively expensive and comes with massive demands from players and agents just isn't correct. But we seem so far behind the curve we are going backwards on bringing in the decent free agents. Probably because we are months behind others in planning and preparation.

@Revidge Blue, we have signed 3 players on loan so far and hopefully a couple of permanent signings in the next 37 hours.

If Nyambe won't sign a new contract surely we need sell and recoup whatever we can get for him.

Then look at signing John Joe Kenny from Everton as possible option.

Relinked to Obafemi on sky… wonder if they haven’t got the memo that that deal is dead.

When will Mowbray learn to move on and stop chasing him. He doesn't want to come here, When will he learn? Never.

They are other strikers out there we could get that would score goals here

Or keep him here for a year because him playing this season is worth more to us than peanuts for a quality RB
