The "we understand Rovers are open to selling line" could easily come from the comments Waggott made earlier in the season when it looked like another year of mediocrity was in store

It's bollocks, none of our sources have suggested we're looking to sell him, never mind to Bournemouth! Talkshite were the ones who said we were considering it, everyone else has jumped on it and it was rejected not 5 mins after it came in as being derisory. Parker and Bournemouth have done exactly what they wanted to do with that pitiful offer. Offer them 1.9 for Solanke and move on.

Bournemouth seem to be showing real ambition if they are genuinely interested in Kieffer Moore, Lawrence and Rothwell.

That seems realistic. I can't see any reason for us to sell nor any reason for Rothwell to want to move now.

For us, no I agree it isnt in our best interest. But for him, money.

Keiffer Moore is a mental signing for them. May as well sign Andy Caroll! Not even close to suiting their style.

Hull City sack McCann despite wins over Blackburn and Bournemouth..... insane. Looks like it could well be much worse than Venkys there.

Arveladze will be head coach. Coming from Uzbekistan league.

They are 19th. Even with 2 good wins, they're not having a good season.

See who they appoint first but if they have any sort ambition they need better than McCann.

Exactly, I don't get the outcry on him being sacked.

How can Rovers know what offer Bournemouth have made to Rothwell?

If they knew that surely the first thing they should be doing is putting a complaint in to the EFL for illegally approaching our players?

He can't sign a pre contract with Bournemouth. Are Bournemouth going to give him a guarantee that no matter what(even if he has a long term injury) they will sign him in the summer? Is Rothwell going to give Bournemouth a guarantee that no matter what he will sign for them in the summer(even if a higher placed team comes in with a larger offer)

Nothing can be signed that is legally binding at this point.

Every player has an agent who's jobs are to find the best deals for their clients and make themselves very easy to contact. Nothing will be signed but they will certainly be aware of a rough figure that will be on offer. With Rothwell stating how much he is enjoying his football here its very much in his and his agents interests to share that info with rovers, effectively putting the ball in our court.

It's the way football works. It doesn't mean we have to match it. But it does provide justification to be offering more than a %based increase as per our wage structure.

Bournemouth are not officially allowed to enter any negotiations with Rothwell.

Yeah it goes on and his agent will be talking but if Rovers found out Like you say then charges would be brought against Bournemouth.

There is absolutely no logic in Rothwell "agreeing" to join Bournemouth or any other championship club next seaso.  this month

This Rothwell business is reminiscent of when Rovers sold Fred Pickering to Everton back in March 1964 for a then UK record fee of £80/90k.

It's a bit hazy in my mind but perhaps some of the older ones or the anoraks can help out.

As far as I can recall, Rovers were either top or 2nd in the First Division (now the PL) with just 8 or 9 matches to go.  Fred was sold and we went on to lose 5 or 6 games on the bounce and picked up just 3 or 4 points (2 points for a win and 1 point for a draw then) and we finished either 6th or 7th.

Many Rovers' supporters never forgave the club.

Hope history doesn't repeat itself.

Just about right

Remember picking up the LET that night (for younger members no local radio or internet then) and the shock of seeing the front page story with a picture of Fred playing snooker with a grin on his face (IIRC)

And it was a shock!

It's not a conundrum at all unless he's explicitly told the team he wants to leave and will sulk for the rest of the season.

If you sell him you HAVE to replace him like-for-like. Our new formation only works if you have a midfielder than can carry the ball from CM, otherwise you're never able to control the game and consistently create chances. It would be the same if we lost Travis - you need a CM that can cover ground and win the ball back in this formation.

I am not disagreeing with you in fact I fully agree with your point. It is whether there are other connotations behind closed doors that we are unaware of. I also see the link to Rangers surfaced again on the back of the leaked Bournemouth bids.

The club should really be looking at the offer Rothwell will have been presented by Bournemouth and use it as justification to break the rules we've imposed around our wage structure. I'm not meaning match it, but he does deserve to be one of our top earners. Bournemouth showing interest has turned potential earnings elsewhere from hypothetical into reality. Surely from a financial perspective that's a good business case to break only increasing players wages by certain percentages and show them that they are deemed a top player within our squad.

Bournemouth wages wont be bigger than Rovers offer unless they guarantee a huge pay rise SHOULD they get promoted. If they fail then they are lumped with another huge loss, a small fan base, small stadium and not very good prospects unless of course they get rid of the manager.

They pay far more to their players than we do
