BRFCS Server Maintenance Work

Recommended Posts

We have to do some urgent & important techy stuff to stop the site from ceasing to exist..!

We can’t predict how long it will take as we are in the hands of “big server” but full details are in the attached article.

TL:DR We will start the process on Friday & try our damnedest to complete it before the game on Saturday but the IT Gods don’t always favour us…🤨

Wish @StubbsUK luck…👍🙂

If we didn't have morals we could make a killing by partnering with SkyBet and offering odds on how long this takes. I'll have £10 on "BRFCS isn't up before full-time on Saturday" please. Good luck Stu!

Just on this, I notice the article says: You don't need to let us know, but don't let that stop you if you just want to drop by and say hello!

For absolute clarity, please don't email me at admin@brfcs.com or even worse, message me on X. Yes I know the site is down. No I don't know when it will be back up. Thank you.

Morning. Since the maintenance work over the weekend I haven't been able to access the forum using my Kindle. I can only get on through 'use private tab' which means I have to log on every time. Is there anything I can do to just get normal access like I used to on my Kindle.

PS please factor in that I'm a luddite when it comes to technical tho be particularly blurb.

just to add I get a message saying '400 Bad request and

Request Header Or Cookie Too Large

I've had that message on other sites (not on BRFCS yet) so until StubbsUK posts an answer maybe try this if not too much trouble - log off and immediately log back in.

Thanks. I tried to but couldn't get past that page with the error message to log out. I deleted BRFCS from my bookmarks and tried to save it again but if I try and even get onto it the same message appears. Hopefully it can be resolved simply!

This issue is when your device is storing a cookie that’s too big basically. The pdf instructions we put into page 1 of this thread  show how to clear it manually but I must confess a Kindle wasn’t one of the devices I considered when writing the instructions 😆

In IT speak you need to clear your cache &/or delete that specific cookie. I’m told by @StubbsUK that these refresh over time & when that happens it should be OK but I suspect the timescale for that to happen depends upon how often you use the device/browser & how often you close a browsing session & re-open.

What browser does your Kindle use ?

I’m having exactly the same problem on my iPad, but I can get on with my iPhone.

Try to follow the instructions in the PDF doc on page one of THIS THREAD - how to clear the rogue cookie depends on device & browser but if you are on iPad I’m presuming it’s Safari?

Removing the specific cookie gets rid of the problem…👍

Our cookie problem only affects BRFCS so this is a coincidence I suspect…

I said I was a luddite! Would it be Google?

Possibly Google Chrome - the icon on your Kindle should indicate 🤷‍♂️ The pdf I mentioned shows various examples but I don’t have a Kindle I’m afraid…☹️

I fixed it Ian. God knows how but I pressed a few buttons relating to cookies (I still don't know what they are) and it worked.

if you ever need and technical help just contact me 😉😁
