SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted Friday at 18:37 Posted Friday at 18:37 The news we did not want to hear but fully expected bellows from today's LET: 'Venkys boost will not affect Blackburn Rovers transfer plan' What plans?..to put fook all into the Club again... Quote
joey_big_nose Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago (edited) When was the last time that a January transfer has made much of a difference to Rovers? Usually we don't sign them till right at the end of January and then - even if they seem good on paper (Giles, Thomas, Dennis) they never really get up to speed. Best we have had in recent years is probably Forshaw, Ayari and Chrisene which is hardly a big endorsement.... That said our defensive options are so stretched we could really do with a Chrisene type loan just to have extra bodies. I guess I would go all out to bring in experience to bolster the thin areas of the squad (every position except left back and number 10, but starting urgently with centre back...) and focus on players who can come on 1st January. My list:- Right winger back Right footed centre back Striker A centre back, a centre mid, winger and a striker. So basically the same as summer. Which is a damning indictment of the shite we signed then. They also need to be leaders, with some physicality and fight in them - not more rubber dinghy men. Edited 6 hours ago by MarkBRFC71 2 Quote
KentExile Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Senior first team scout, Piotr Sadowski, has left the club this month. https://www.linkedin.com/in/piotr-sadowski-4184a8a0/?originalSubdomain=uk He only arrived in February, another who was sold a bag of magic beans? Quote

Devil's advocate mode on again: Bearing in mind the crap we signed in the summer is it any great loss? Or, is it yet another sign that the environment at Ewood and Brockhall is so toxic we can't hold onto significant non playing staff for more than a month or two? Quote

neophox Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago What about Darragh Lenihan? Is he injured or what? Not in Middlesbrough team, 31 years old. Also seems like JDT is on his way back to a new project at Norwich or Swansea. Quote
Tim Southampton Rover Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago He has had an achilles injury and has been injured a lot, so would fit right in with us again. 1 Quote

Suppose that comes down to how good/bad we expect players to be when signed for relative buttons Also, for all we know, on one hand, he may have been recommending numerous other players, who Rovers were then subsequently outbid on, so we moved onto the D/E tier list, or the players we signed may have been his A tier picks Quote

Another centre back signing should be have made in the summer A right wing back is a priority for me I can understand why they want a Tronstad replacement in and get him 6 months to settle in whilst Tronstad is here Edited 3 hours ago by chaddyrovers Quote

Not, name which positions we need (which positions you can echo Alan Nixon about). Its quite you want always want a couple of new players in during a window. Selling Gueye and replacing him is a sensible logical move. Centre back is a must and was 6 months ago I also started this thread saying we need a new right wing back cos Alebiosu cant play every game Not sure why you are obsess with Nicko for AGAIN! Bohinen1983 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) Centre midfield is a must- relative to a team pushing for play-offs: Good: Trondstadt, Cantwell Bog Standard: Hickman Shit: Tavares, Foreshaw, Henrikkson (Granted it's early days), Montgommery I'd push Tavares out the door along with Foreshaw and look to bring in two GOOD centre mids. Rothwell on loan would paper over a few cracks and add a bit of dynamism and attacking impetus. Then a ball playing centre mid- see who's lurking in league one/two, snatch up a gem. I honestly think our centre mid is absolutely abject. I've thrown Cantwell in there but I see him as more of a 10 and Hickman would be nowhere near if we still had Travis.. Needs fixing pronto! London blue Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago If we sell Gueye we need two strikers. 3 can't rotate 2 roles without one or more of them blowing up. CM is an absolute must. I would also sell Tavares. If we wipe our face on him it's a win in my book. 2 in. A competent, senior CB. Loan, free or fee, I don't care. A backup to Alebiosu. As we always say, we won't get nearly the required quality or numbers in. Quote
