SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago We are the talk of Football for all the wrong reasons, kicked on our Arse and dragged backwards through the Shit by our so-called owners. 2 Quote

bazza Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I think the pitch and subsoil must be clogged up and will need a major overhaul in summer. If it were merely the drain not being able to take the water in very heavy rain, (i.e. running full bore), all it would need is a sump and a pump with a discharge pipe over the river. 1 Quote

Yet weirdly there is an article on LT with quotes from their manager talking about the pitch flooding an nothing from Vi same as Ipswich, so their coach clearly spoke to the media Quote

If only we had the gumption of a club of the status of, say, Rochdale. More determined to sort out the problem immediately rather than risk it killing more winter games. We as a MINIMUM should be reimbursing all away fans tickets and travel, AND making plans to sort it out immediately and groundsharing in the meantime, even if that means with Blackpool. Quote

Professional tier two club who can’t provide a suitable pitch, need to be made an example of. I only hope this leaves the owners with the embarrassment for the cost cutting. We've already punished ourselves by losing possibly up to 5 points, getting injuries unnecessarily, bookings to count towards suspensions unnecessarily, national embarassment and having to play 2 more league games this season than nearly everyone (except Ipswich and Sheff W, for who it's only one more). Talk of any further punishment is daft. Quote

The threat of pretty severe sanctions is also probably the only way anything approaching a proper solution will ever get done. Otherwise we'll just be treated to yet more BS along the lines of "a drainage sleeve" getting done "that week" but nothing ever actually happening. Quote

The worst of the problems started with the advent of the Indian Court case. The summer when we went down, we spent just over £1m on fees. Is that not sparing any expense? And that was off the back of a season where anyone remotely sellable was sold. The summer when the court case really started was possibly the strongest in terms of cut backs but far from an isolated incident. There has been the odd summer where we have had even a reasonable summer in terms of net spend, the one upon promotion and Tomasson's first season which are both exceptions to the rule. Think the season I just mentioned that led to relegation, think the season we sold Armstrong and they wouldnt spend a fee, and think the season when we sold Cairney/Gestede etc and brought in a whole host of cheap crap, and even in those years they would have had to offset some sort of loss. Many other summers we barely spent a fee too. This idea that they "pump in £20m a year" seems to linger in some minds as if have been actively and willingly putting in money, rather than just the standard Championship owner raising share capital/adding debt to offset general expenses. Im not even sure that the worst of the problems have been in line with the court case. Seems like a bit of an excuse. Quote
