The managers weren't allowed to be interviewed after the Ipswich postponement either.

People not allowed to be interviewed, ex employees having to sign NDAs etc.

Where are we living? North Korea?

I think the pitch and subsoil must be clogged up and will need a major overhaul in summer. If it were merely the drain not being able to take the water in very heavy rain, (i.e. running full bore), all it would need is a sump and a pump with a discharge pipe over the river.

Yet weirdly there is an article on LT with quotes from their manager talking about the pitch flooding an nothing from Vi

same as Ipswich, so their coach clearly spoke to the media

If only we had the gumption of a club of the status of, say, Rochdale. More determined to sort out the problem immediately rather than risk it killing more winter games.

We as a MINIMUM should be reimbursing all away fans tickets and travel, AND making plans to sort it out immediately and groundsharing in the meantime, even if that means with Blackpool.

I know it’s my own club, but a points deduction is needed here.

Professional tier two club who can’t provide a suitable pitch, need to be made an example of.

I only hope this leaves the owners with the embarrassment for the cost cutting.

We've already punished ourselves by losing possibly up to 5 points, getting injuries unnecessarily, bookings to count towards suspensions unnecessarily, national embarassment and having to play 2 more league games this season than nearly everyone (except Ipswich and Sheff W, for who it's only one more).

Talk of any further punishment is daft.

I honestly do not believe talk of further punishment is daft. It’s the clubs fault alone this, so why should they get away with it?

100%.

The threat of pretty severe sanctions is also probably the only way anything approaching a proper solution will ever get done.

Otherwise we'll just be treated to yet more BS along the lines of "a drainage sleeve" getting done "that week" but nothing ever actually happening.

Yep, they didn't spare any expense when we got relegated to League 1 under Mowbray.

The worst of the problems started with the advent of the Indian Court case.

The summer when we went down, we spent just over £1m on fees. Is that not sparing any expense? And that was off the back of a season where anyone remotely sellable was sold.

The summer when the court case really started was possibly the strongest in terms of cut backs but far from an isolated incident. There has been the odd summer where we have had even a reasonable summer in terms of net spend, the one upon promotion and Tomasson's first season which are both exceptions to the rule. Think the season I just mentioned that led to relegation, think the season we sold Armstrong and they wouldnt spend a fee, and think the season when we sold Cairney/Gestede etc and brought in a whole host of cheap crap, and even in those years they would have had to offset some sort of loss. Many other summers we barely spent a fee too.

This idea that they "pump in £20m a year" seems to linger in some minds as if have been actively and willingly putting in money, rather than just the standard Championship owner raising share capital/adding debt to offset general expenses.

Im not even sure that the worst of the problems have been in line with the court case. Seems like a bit of an excuse.

They haven't, for all the reasons I outlined.

Okay, I will give you a scenario, hypothetical granted, but not beyond all realms of possibility.

Let’s choose Middlesbrough as an example. They are leading 0-2 and the same happens again, so due to our lack of investment on our pitch, the match gets abandoned and a replay is ordered that we go on to win, costing them 3 points, which in turn, costs them a place in the premier league.

Do you think they should just shrug  their shoulders and sit back and count the cost, of them missing out on the premier league?

A view from the away end...'water rollers' and all.😲

I watched this one. They travelled all this way and chanted for it to be called off yet say they were having good chances etc etc

accrington stanley,7 miles from blackburn managed to play 120 minutes in the same weather,we are now not only an embarasment, but a national one at that,at least that ludicrous effort to get water off the pitch with those squeegies on wheels gave us a laugh

Can we play our home games there please

If I didn’t support rovers I’d be asking for them to deduct us 3 points per game missed

i would rather the owners were fined

Wonder if Ismael is under instruction to keep his gob shut?

Yes agree

After the Ipswich game they came out and discussed it and he said nothing

after this game the Wednesday coach came out and talked about it and he said nothing

clearly being told to say nothing until they have decided a PR angle

we have played 80mins of one game

called off

replayed that match

60mins of another game

called off

Will replay this match

 Not just

an embarrassment perspective, potential fine for the club,

lack of progression as we now played one less than others around us,

but more importantly from a player welfare perspective, considering the amount of injuries, our players are playing more minutes than others as they are effectively playing 2 games more than every other club, which is more risk of injury especially the stop start nature of the abandoned matches

stupid ownership

If you don’t care about our club, our history, our reputation, our league position, at least care about the player welfare -and repair the pitch!!

I want the club to be dragged in front of the EFL and be held to account. We get more rain than the vast majority of the country in East Lancs and we have people working on the pitch daily, surely those people will know how many times out of the 365 days a year the pitch would be unplayable.

I want the club and head groundsman to be interviewed on public record to admit how many times that pitch would be unplayable, and who has decided to do nothing be it the groundsman not letting the club know (impossible in my eyes) or the club ignoring his requests. I feel I already know the answer to this but I want the jokers running this club to be exposed.

Good post and well done for not doubling down.

Last time it was that it should have carried on, it was just a bit of rain, the referee was wrong, it was McKenna's fault etc.

Yesterday's conditions were worse but just after the abandonment its rain very heavy.

The pitch can't sustain that much water on it as post match pictures shown this. We need a new modern day pitch
