Rovers are reported to have invited Nigerian international striker Peter Odemwingie for a second trial.

Rovers are understood to have already told his Belgian club La Louviere how much they are prepared to pay for the striker who would require a work permit if he is offered a deal.

Rovers chief executive John WiIliams told This is Lancashire "Peter came over and he's certainly done enough for us to want to see him again.

"We've made an indicative offer to his club, subject to him impressing sufficiently in his second trial. But there's not been any conversation about personal terms, it's just a continuation to judge him."
