  1. It’s interesting comparing him to Dolan. Dolan is a real talent and has exploded onto the scene. But you can see the difference between a promising youngster and a once in a generation talent. Elliott’s vision, decision making and composure is remarkable. To have that at 17 is frightening. Very fortunate to have him. Let’s enjoy it.

  2. One of the few joys of living on my own is NEVER having to watch mush like this. And before anyone asks, "If you've never watched a programme like this, how do you know it'll be mush?", the answer is, "Trust me; I just know!" In the same way I just know Burnleh'll never be Lancashire's Most Historic Club. Every time they've won a trophy, they've found our name already on the Winners' Board. So, trust me; I just know!!?

  3. Chaddy they have cut funding to councils for the last decade. Councils are in their knees, 63 million pounds is peanuts compared to what they need?! There is a legal requirement for Schools to provide online learning for children, coming into effect in the next few weeks. However they have sent an email to schools stating that they have cut laptop's (that they promised) from 63 per school to 11... Did you know this? Reason I ask is because this government will say one thing but never follow through. I know of kids who will be starving this holiday, how is Boris ensuring they get fed

  4. The preview I wrote for the local rag. When : Tuesday 27th October 2020, 7.45pmWhere : Ewood Park, Blackburn, Lancashire, BB2 4JFCapacity : 31,367Midweek. Away. Blackburn Rovers. Three good reasons to just pretend this game just doesn’t exist in the fixture list and jump straight to Friday’s exchange of pleasantries with Coventry. Why? Well not only is Reading’s record at Ewood rather less than impressive but mainly because Reading’s midweek (ie games played on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening) away league form is somewhat akin to something very cr@ppy indeed having a cr@ppy cr@p attack on

  5. We still haven't had an answer as to why poverty is increasing, including the use of foodbanks by a broad section of society, it the government are doing a great job. Tbh I am most disappointed by the response ohere of a teacher/nurse using a foodbank is only due to financial irresponsibility. The fact this is happening by numerous professionals perhaps should set alarm bells ringing and "crap, how is this happening?" as a response. Instead of seeing it as a sign of a deep rooted problem, it's dismissed as fecklessness. That's scary. Worse that's a big F you to anyone who is strugg

  6. A classic "must score first" scenario this one. If we don't it could be a long night,; they've beaten Cardiff & Watford in their run to 1st place so cant be taken lightly. Despite the suggestion they've been lucky, there must be more to it than that; their performance here last season & their 2nd goal on Sat show there's no shortage of ability there, and we know what Joao can do if motivated. That said, I believe we have enough to give them defensive nightmares. It's imperative that we get off to a strong start, front foot from the off, high press, incisive penetrating balls forwa

  8. Again, of course there are a minority of dickheads. Especially away when folk have been on the piss all day. I’ve heard all kind of bollocks shouted out over the years. Social media is a modern example of it. But, on the whole, BB has been well supported by the fanbase as he went through a really tough couple of years... amazed this is even a debate and people can’t separate a small number of idiots from a entire fanbase.

  9. I've never abused a player at a game. I don't see the point, it's hardly likely to make them play better. That's at a game, they have to be there , they don't have to come on here and read what people write on here . Getting back to the game. The fourth goal was a classic example of how effective wing play can be. We get in up the sideline, everybody is running back towards goal, The Coventry back four are looking out to where the danger is. Gallagher just stops running and lets all the Coventry defenders run away from him. A huge gap opens right in front of him and he can hardly miss. H

  10. Let's not get started with how much money they have wasted thus far Den, it kills me that they have enough to waste 50 million on PPE that was incorrect but not on our kids who are hungry. I'll keep it simple, yes it's the job of parents to provide food their kids but if they can't, we as a society HAVE to. I'm about to deliver food parcels to numerous people, this is an immediate issue.

  11. You are correct but 60% is probably 39.9% short of the world class system that Johnson, Hancock and the other Tories keep telling us we have. And by the way it cost £12b. However it is dressed up many, many people are potentially spreading this disease around because of another huge failing.

  12. One of my mates has been a season ticket holder at Anfield for 45 years and he also goes to reserve and academy games whenever he can, especially now he's retired. He told me when we first signed this lad on loan that he is the best teenager he's ever seen. When you think of some of the young players LFC have produced in the past 25 years that is some praise indeed. Better than Owen, Fowler, Gerrard, Carragher etc etc "Look after him" was his plea!

  14. I’m talking generally, not particularly to you islander. But actually more towards the daft stuff I keep reading that makes out Rovers fans (and bizarrely Lancastrians specifically) are worse than anybody else. It’s dead simple, come to any club for big money and be really poor for two years, you’ll get at least grumbling and a few dickheads being abusive and totally out of order. The difference is Rovers fans generally have been really supportive and it hasn’t *on the whole* got any stronger than grumbling, I’ve been surprised just how much we’ve been behind him, as it shows how the fanb

  15. Always been a strand of our support like this. In the PL days you always used to hear ‘shit are Rovers fans’, ‘gates are poor’. Even though we were the best supported club in the country by population, a town with challenging demographics of 100,000 with average crowds of 25,000. ‘Poor?’ It was fantastic support. But what chance do you have trying to negate Dingle nonsense like ‘not a football town, Blackburn’ when your own fans constantly belittle themselves.

  16. I haven't seen Pears play but he's fairly rated, so it feels a lot better knowing we have him behind rather than Leutweiller. With any luck it's Nyambe in for JRC, same midfield with maybe Johnson dropping out for Rothwell and same front 3. Be probably our best team, keeper / Ayala aside. Confident about this. Not stopped being excited about a game so far this season. Reading is a big test though and we have come up short against Watford and Bournemouth this year. 3rd time lucky really. I want to be the team that debilitates this Reading squad and puts 5 past a once-solid defence.

  17. So I take it after two years of really poor performances after a £7 million deal, he wouldn’t be receiving anything as vicious as ‘tuts’ and ‘sighs’ like the bear pits of Lancashire anywhere else?

  18. In the great scheme of things does how much Brereton cost or how bad he was previously matter. He didn’t ask to be bought for that amount so when did it become his responsibility. Has a club a lot of our spending has been farcical and the brereton fee if 100% true is minor. If we where all measured and judged on what we did previously in our career there would be very few on here who could say yeah we have just been great. It’s about improving and without any doubt this lad has got his head down and worked and that in any walk of life should be applauded. I’ve watched every game an

  20. I've got to be careful what I say here, because some people here know my real name, but I've come close to breaking a few times this year. I'm one of those people that just keeping working harder and harder and are their own worst enemy. Thankfully after this coming week, I get a fortnight off. Not that I'm going anywhere! ? A week off at the end of September was the first significant time I've had off this year. I'm majorly rinsed. There's a mental health epidemic coming for sure

  24. But Gav it quite simply isn’t saving lives. It is damaging them beyond all belief. This virus kills 0.1% of people in my age range, but during the lockdown suicide has once again become the most prominent cause of death amongst us. It is completely and utterly self-defeating to be claiming that we are “saving lives” when the reality is that it isn’t. This one size fits all is doing far more damage to people than any of the older generation want to even admit. It is muted every time it is brought up. The response to this pandemic has been the single biggest public health fai

  26. Steady. Minimum wage on a 40hr week is about 18k. So, it's about 38% higher then. Although, I get people work overtime/longer shifts to get above the 18k.

  27. My best mate is a Pool fan and he raves about him similar. Says forget the likes of Harvey Barnes who is still a player that will have a top career, this kid is going right to the very top. Says alot that Barnes was always going to be loaned out but they wanted Elliott in their squad. Kudos to TM for convincing them to send him to us.

  28. Your term 'Lancastrians' was a generalisation, perhaps you should be more specific. I have been critical of many Rovers players over many years but critical of aspects of their play, not them as people. Anybody in the public eye is open to criticism, it goes with the territory and the majority accept that but going back to your original post Rovers fans as a collective are categorically no better or worse than supporters anywhere. To say otherwise is simply not true.

  29. Rothwell not available. Still self isolating. Why drop JRC for Nyambe? Hopefully the same front 3 continue. Would be disappointed if Gallagher replaced any of them at kick off. Don't want to see Bell back ahead of Douglas or Buckley instead of Johnson. Keep the faith TM. Don't tinker unless you have to!

  30. Kaminski has been an absolutely fantastic signing. Early days, but I think he'll become our best keeper since Friedel. We will miss him if he's out, but I think Pears should be a capable deputy. Awesome to have this squad depth and I think it will hold us in good stead to make the playoffs.

  32. I think (and this isn't BBs fault,) £7m was far too much for a Championship side to pay for potential. Even most Premiership sides would have hesitated at that price. If he continues to improve, and possibly plays a key role in promotion we may look back and congratulate TM for his eye for a player - but will still think it was a huge gamble for a mid table Championship club.

  34. I set myself up an account just to answer that question(yes we did genuinely used to be known as the biscuitmen rather than the royals) Our preferred tactic is 4231 but the formation does change in game depending on how we’re doing, for example we got Laurent to sit deeper than Semedo and Rinomhota on Saturday so we became some sort of wide 433. We’re very much a counter attacking side who look to frustrate the opposition by allowing them to have plenty of possession. Laurent and Rinomhota sit just in front of our defence and they essentially fill in any gaps that open up(otherwise

  37. Socially distance, wear a mask in public and regularly wash your hands properly. If everybody did this all of the time and cafes, in addition to restaurants, pubs and venues people generally socialise in, exercised appropriate levels of hygiene, there'd be no need for any lockdown of any description. Too many folk think it's either nonsense or selfishly doesn't concern them, that's the problem.

  44. You always get some idiot everywhere. I can remember one bloke standing up and screaming abuse at Dunn everytime he got the ball! At Ewood v Villa. His face was purple and the veins on his neck stood out like rope. Unbelievable. It went on the whole game----which we won and Dunn scored! Had the most beautiful blonde with him too. I remember thinking "what the hell does she see in him?"----a feeling I've often had by the way!!

  45. I'd pick the same starting eleven from Saturday, unless anyone is struggling with fitness. The 2 games where we've struggled to break down teams (Cardiff and Forest), Nyambe had replaced JRC at right back. Let Reading worry about us and us have the nous to cope with their obvious gameplan. If their fullbacks are pressed back and concerned foremost with containing Elliott/Dolan, Brereton, JRC and Douglas, they shouldn't venture forward too much. Key for me is getting an early goal, do that and I think we'll win.

  46. Its not "extra" to what they used to get though. Its only extra to the miserly amount they were left to cope with after 2010 and Tory austerity. They still don't get what they got before 2010 in real terms and yet so much of the consequences of this pandemic is falling on their shoulders.
