Gestede only really being the outlier. What a signing that was by Bowyer. One of a few brilliant signings by him. Surprise, surprise when the owners turned the taps off on him we ended up with bargain basement Fode Koita as a direct replacement for Gestede. Two seasons later and with Rhodes gone as well we got relegated. It shouldn’t be any surprise at all if history repeats itself this time next season sadly. And that’s assuming we’ve just about done enough to stop up this time.2 points

One of the best games I've ever seen. Back when Ewood was absolutely buzzing.2 points

Rhodes - Graham - Dack - Armstrong - Brereton - Szmodics Common denominator ? Every one of them cost money including DG who was on Prem wages. The line has run dry now if we do not INVEST in one or two forwards you can stick your entire savings on relegation next year. A new contract for big Sam isn't the answer and hanging the hat on Telalovic type punts or Leonard or Siggy to come up with enough is like a turkey looking forward to Christmas. It's not happening and neither is 'oh well if more players chip in we'll be fine' Massive summer for spin doctor Broughton and the affiable Mr Eustace.2 points

Rovers legend back at Ewood Park on Saturday and Sunday for the game2 points

The EFL won't bite the hand that drip feeds it therefore after a bit of posturing nothing will happen. The big 6 run football in this country in conjunction with the biggest paying tv companies and for me the sooner they all do one to their nonsense money laundering Super League the better. Take their plastic fans with them, football will survive just fine.1 point

If the EFL had any balls they'd say no problem, no premier league teams in the EFL cup and by the way you can stop entering your U21 sides in the EFL Trophy. Hopefully common sense prevails and they'll do a u-turn.1 point

The first offer of 5 million will be accepted straight away and not a single penny will be reinvested in the squad.1 point

Having made £22m and then with a further £4-5m to come from Raya, in theory the Szmodics shouldn't be necessary in determining what happens in this window. We should already have money to spend. Obviously not £26m or anything close, but we should have at least some money to spend. So any Szmodics sale shouldn't be required to raise even more, so then in that instance, it should be a case of weighing up what is best, a decent budget and Szmodics or an even bigger budget but without our only goalscorer and knowing how difficult he becomes to replace. So I would choose the former. Obviously it won't turn out like that, and I suspect we will be begging, stealing and borrowing even with a Szmodics sale.1 point

Absolutely agree with you, although the winners only qualify for the European Conference League, the third ranked Competition. The " Top tier " Premier League sides involved in Europe should be exempted from the EFL ( Carabao ) Cup, which should reduce their games by 3-5 per season. I'd also get rid of the two-leg EFL Cup Semi-Finals, and have one game, at neutral venues .. As for the FA Cup, I'd go back to regionalising the 1/2nd Round games, and keep replays !! This was the case until the late 1990's, and would reduce travel costs for Clubs & fans alike. From round 3 onwards, I'd give any Club ranked in a lower Division drawn at home, the choice to switch the tie should they wish ! They can then make the choice of say, Marine hosting Tottenham at their tiny ground for one memorable day, or giving their players and fans a day out at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, with the much higher gate receipts and securing the Clubs future for a couple of years ...1 point

It's incredible how lucky our hit rate has been with striker signings the last 10 years or so. Or am i forgetting all the duds (ie goodwillie). A 20+ goalscorer has come out the (albeit expensive) woodwork everytime drastically needed. A lot of clubs havnt had anything close.1 point

I think 8 mil and i'd keep him (as a goalscorer is coming from nowhere otherwise), 15 mil+ i'd sell and reinvest (w wharton + raya cash) to make a solid squad for 2-3 years (wage budget wouldnt last longer) and take a punt at promotion. Neither will happen.1 point

I’d have a London team to win the title over Man Utd or Liverpool any day. As little reflected glory for their hordes of plastic ‘fans’ around here as possible please.1 point

Not gonna lie I saw one of the latest Electric Ford Mustangs the other day🤤🤤 if I was rich and had money to burn I definitely would hahaha But the current standard everyday EVs just do nothing for me and I wouldn’t touch Tesla with a barge pole (blandest most generic looking cars around to my eyes) For me at this current time though I still just see them as expensive gadgets mainly for those that just have to have the latest thing!1 point

we need to spend a lot this summer imo,4/5 players, new goalkeeper, left sided midfielder, centre midfielder and centre forward,we can`t keep selling our best players and surviving on crap loans and budget players,it will see us relegated next season, sammie is`nt likely to score 30 next season either ,providing we keep him1 point

Even if we take away Whitaker’s 19 for Plymouth and Stansfield’s 12 for Birmingham? Plus he’s only scored 24 in the league. But not taking your point literally, I know what you mean. Lose him and don’t replace with 2 other options and we have bug problems.1 point

The thing that always strikes me when something like this happens is always the blasé nature of the announcement and the sheer lack of thought put in to the decision. Just like when the super league was announced with half a website and no concrete plans on how it would actually function alongside other competitions, this has been announced in a sort of "by the way" tone, seemingly oblivious to any pushback that might occur. The lack of awareness is staggering. For what it's worth I don't think clubs being reliant on fa cup replays to remain in business is indicative of a healthy system but if the way money is distributed down the pyramid is not changed radically then they simply have to remain. Aside from the monetary gain, they make the cup unique and it's satisfying to make bigger clubs play you again. Big clubs crying player welfare is laughable, you have massive squads and the best academies in the country. Use them1 point

You're right, we'll take 8 million ASAP so we can maximise its use in the summer window...only to have problems landing our top targets and ending up with Jim from Rushall Olympic on deadline day.1 point

entertaining, really,i think it`s boring,a closed shop devoid of any unpredictability, uefa need to get their act together and just have one massive knock out, champions, second place and cup winners only and no seeding thats just me being a fan and not a money counter,id`e like nothing better to see real madrid knocked out by panathanaikos or man city humbled by ifk gothenberg, like the good old days, steau bucharest for the cup😁1 point

The FA are astonishingly weak and quite simply have acceded to the big Premier League clubs but at the expense of others who don't have the benefit of being state owned or have billionaire owners. In a normal world this should have been decided democratically by all the full member clubs not just a few who are selfish. Most of the big clubs could actually field two separate teams full of experience and internationals. The FA are there to act in the best interests of all the clubs but don't. It's interesting that they have slipped this in before the new regulator is appointed. Hopefully ITV and BBC also have something to say as they are losing live matches to broadcast. The FA Cup was once the jewel in the crown of English football. It's the very people who should be protecting it that are damaging it.1 point

We have a Wednesday season ticket holder in the family and many of our close friends group are fans. I’m just trying to decide what I post in our WhatsApp group to get them going 😃 The 7-2 win or Semi final win in our league cup winning season 🤔1 point

Did make me laugh when they also said the winter break has been scrapped and the season opener moved a week later instead to aid rest… yeah like they won’t be using that extra week in August go fly to Sydney/Shanghai/Seoul instead 🤦♂️1 point

A harsh reality of being run by Owners with zero interest...good luck Sammie wherever you end up.1 point

I remember the Owls pretty well from the Jack Charlton era. Their fans didn't half make some noise in the old Darwn End. They were a physical and aggressive team and names like Bob Bolder, Mel Sterland and Terry Curran readily spring to mind. Some good battles were had home and away.1 point

But I would leave Dolan and Szmodics up top. Far more useful there and forces the opposition to leave players back. Just the basics really.1 point

Muric has cost the dingles defeat in the 6 pointer against Everton and the win against Brighton. Good lad.1 point
