  1. I’m sorry Paul, but it really has bewildered me that running Blackburn Rovers sensibly has been made to look as arduous as sewing in sparring mitts, but that is how it has been presented throughout this near decade long malaise of desperate despair and unease. I just can’t see how the Raos can carry on this sickening pretence any longer. They have proven emphatically over the years that they do not have the wherewithal, the gumption, the vision, the acumen and most critically the contrition and sincerity, to ingratiate themselves with the good upstanding loyal folk who support this club,

  3. Nothing but pride for those 10 lads in that second half. Not often I clap in the living room at the final whistle. Have that Brentford. And I’ll even say it: well done Mowbray. Capitalised on a stupid, arrogant double tactical substitution by Frank, with both of Tony’s subs combining to get that priceless goal. COYB!

  4. Hi all, Two things, firstly thank you all so much for the good wishes, it genuinely gave me a huge lift when I heard about this thread. A quick update, I'm now home with the family and recovering. Both me and my wife (as I feared both working in the NHS) got Covid, it was awful for a week and both very poorly. I suddenly took a turn for the worse and was rushed into Hospital with a Temp of 41.2 and was admitted into intensive care. Covid, Pneumonia and Sepsis basically kicked the life out of me for several days and it was very much touch and go if I survived or not. I spent 5 days in i

  5. Could people attending this meeting please raise with the club about having a match for Tony Parkes to raise funds for alzheimer's or make a match day Tony Parkes day and let him walk the teams out and give him the fans reception he very much deserves. Get some former players back as well on that day.

  6. The trouble is, this is a well-trodden route in the Copybook of Tony Mowbray. A week back, prior to Cardiff and following the utterly woeful and woebegone showings against Wigan and Barnsley, we needed to see a late and sustained charge. What did we get? Win one, draw one, lose one. In keeping with the season. In keeping with the managers record. That kind of infuriating and tiresome predictability just creates a detrimental staleness that engenders apathy amongst the ever diminishing fan base, and ensures that any player of talent and therefore ambition will not grace Ewood for long. 8. This isn’t intended as a thorough summary of the meeting, but here’s what I took away from it. This is from memory, not my notes, please consider this my observation and interpretations. Transfer Window Disappointing window, what happened? Mowbray disappointed we couldn’t get anyone in. Wasn’t for want of trying. Spoke about the difficulties around this for 25 minutes. Shocked by wage demands and asking prices. Won’t break wage structure. Got close on some deals. Has to field questions from Venkys as to why he hasn’t bought anyone You said

I’m not claiming to be anything special either, I know a few folk that have low level jobs within the club, they don’t get told everything for obvious reasons. They also could get into bother should a secret deal be leaked so iv no intention of getting them into bother. I pass on what I can. I can tell you a keeper will be signed before the start of the season. They didn’t let raya go without one pretty much done, there have been reas

  12. As good a player as he was (and he was one of Rovers' all time best) his substitution routine was pure genius. Step 1 - Glance over to bench to get inkling he was coming off Step 2 - Decide to try something outrageous or overly skillful as a parting gift Step 3 - Drift over to the Riverside Stand Step 4 - Look at the fans in the Riverside as the board went up. Step 5 - Ignore the board Step 6 - Wait for prompting or the stadium announcer to call out ''Number 5......Tugay'' Step 7 - Look suprised Step 8 - Remove shinpads Step 9 - Loosen Socks

  13. How do we know there is no urgency? 3 years ago.. Back 4 v Southend 2017 Nyambe, Lenihan, Mulgrew (c), Williams, All 4 players still at the club and 3 nailed on to start against Bournemouth. 18 months ago. "defenders are coming." It's a piss take to be honest.

Watching things like this puts all the " silliness " around local rivalries in it's true perspective. All Clubs have their legends and favorite sons, and Tony Parkes truly is one of Blackburn Rover's finest. The " Up the Clarets " board has a post about Tony this morning, and there's much best wishes and sympathy being expressed, to which I should like to add my own. Good luck, fella !

  15. As I said in the build up, I’m numb to rovers at the moment, nothing excites me about the team currently, from manager, first team squad, potential January signings, style of play. It’s all so... meh. Run of the mill, going through the motions. Season died when dack got busted. Mowbray is nothing, not inspiring or tactically astute. I am just struggling to get into it at all. Sounds like today was a reflection of my feelings. Need a change, the fans need a change

  16. Anyone of a sensitive disposition should look away now... I’ll preface what I’m about to say by saying that Buckley’s goal was a fantastic moment, and the most I’ve celebrated at Ewood for a long time. That’s a massive 3 points that we really needed and I was genuinely delighted. But... sadly, it has probably just removed any hope of a managerial change until it is too late. If today’s result is to count for anything then Mowbray must be sacked. Tonight. With immediate effect. Or he should have the decency to walk. Today’s win was in spite of Mow

  20. I haven’t posted about Rovers fortunes for a long while. It’s so hard to believe in the current ownership and it’s very easy to become disaffected and disillusioned with the way in which the poultry barons in Pune have breathed life into our nightmares. However............ On the subject of their 7th permanent manager in 9 abject years, it is hard to escape the fact that any judgement of Tony Mowbray was always going to be distorted by the folly that preceded him. He followed Owen Coyle, who was a farcical appointment that could only have been entertained by fools looking to torment

  21. It's the lack of communication from the club that angers me. One of my "lockdown jobs" has been to get my collection of sporting - mainly BRFC, obviously - programmes into some proper order, rather than just living in boxes, as they have done for far too long. I mention that because I had forgotten that I had very few programmes from the 2011/12 and the 2012/13 seasons. And that was because I was boycotting the club because of its ownership. But I could also identify with the PNE fan on the link from Lancashire Live. In a way, Ewood's been my spiritual home since the late 1950s and I've

  22. What is this drivel about picking his ‘own man’? It was Mowbray who gave Joe the chance, signed him in the summer of 2017 AND gave him an improved contract ffs! ???. I wish you could ask Joe what he thinks about Mowbray and Rovers. How TM saw his potential at a really bad time for Joe personally and how Jonty and the club used their resources to develop and build him up. Earning him a new contract and some financial security for him and his mum. Joe would tell you that he owes everything he’s getting to those people. Samuel was injured all last season!? So how on earth did he keep Nuttall

  23. Here's wishing every one of you and your families a wonderful healthy happy and successful 2021. We've been through a lot together as Rovers fans and 2020 has had its own particular twists and challenges to say the least. But I am very upbeat about the coming year even though the first quarter promises to be the worst part of Covid. We even have a bit of a Rolls Royce of a Rovers squad albeit the tires at the back are bald, there's no spare and we have found out what we suspected all along, the long serving chauffeur doesn't know how to drive... Here's my 30,000th post- wh

  26. West Bromwich Albion are Founder Members of the Football League, they’ve spent around 80 seasons as a top flight club (10 seasons more than us), they’ve also won numerous trophies. They are a historical football club of similar ilk to Blackburn Rovers... oh and they are in the Premier League. Some serious football illiteracy if you think West Brom are a ‘nothing club’.

  29. I've been as pessimistic as any since Venkys took over but the negativity on the footballing side of things I find pretty amazing at the moment. We're about to sign a young English centre forward who's proven himself here before and people are dissapointed? I mean fair enough and each to their own but who do we think we are anymore? Being miffed about International title winning keepers joining? Centre forwards who have scored double figures for us coming in, still have Dacky, Rothwell with his best years ahead and a full season as a starter, Chapman and other exciting young players breaking t

  30. Happy Tugay Day! A 40-a-day smoking 38 year old, who put the Premier League’s best on their arses by standing still. A man who only scored spectacular 25 yard goals, but made them look like tap-ins. Mark Hughes and Sir Alex Ferguson said if he’d been 25, he’d have been playing for Barcelona and Man Utd respectively. Frankly, I still think he could displace Pogba. Mark Noble was picking his all-time PL X1 and said: “I was young and arrogant and I thought, 'oh he's got grey hair, I'm going to get in and around him', and he had me on a bit of string for 90 minutes. I'll always

  31. Just on way back now. Good day out. A few thoughts... Hull could be a banker for relegation, very poor and it seemed the fans know it too. No atmosphere from them at all and out side the ground before and after was very flat. Allam Out. Surprised there weren't more Rovers fans but what were there made a good racket. On the game. Always felt like there were periods of the game were we could have upped it a gear. They were lacking in quality and we should have really punished them. The back 4 for me were class, Nyambe is so strong and quick, th

I expect us to be able to beat teams above us from time to time. I expect basic idiotic mistakes like letting players chose if they are fit not to be made. I expect good players contract situations to be sorted. I expect us to have a bit of bottle and launch a serious promotion bid. I expect us to not hide behind the excuse of they spent more than us. Boo bloody hoo. Didn't stop Hughes or Souness's teams. (And by

  34. Personally, I don't see this as a normal season and therefore no way is this going to be a normal transfer window for the majority of clubs. With plans for an October return to grounds now abandoned by the Government, I fear it's likely to be next spring, at the earliest, before spectators are allowed back in grounds, although I suspect it will more likely be next season before we get large numbers back - if there is a vaccine. Under the circumstances, the majority of clubs, Rovers included, are going to have to watch every penny with income being drastically reduced. Whatever the

  35. Mowbray’s man management of Chapman is a disgrace. The guy finally gets a chance and makes an assist, has an impact and then in the following game doesn’t get a look in in our final game, And he bangs on about attitude. Yet brings On Bennett who we all know is useless. The guy is clueless. Get rid.

  38. Interesting comments from a lot of Hull fans: “Williams in defence for Blackburn looked a class act. We were second best in every single position. Dack ran the show from the front.” “Thought their defence handled us very well.” “Blackburn looked a very decent, well drilled team. Losing 1-0 to them doesn't mean our season is over by a long chalk. They will do well this season. I thought they looked every bit as good as Sheffield United did when they came here last April/May.” “Credit to Blackburn who didn’t even need to get out of first gear.”

Some of you may know I'm not a Blackburn fan, I have a real soft spot for them through family connections and work I have watched the young players come through for the last 4/5 years (I watch more youth football than 1st team football across the board) and I can honestly say the group on the verge of making it into the 1st team are up there with best around at the minute, Butterworth, Buckley, Rankin-Costello, Magloire and Grayson could be the start of something special, add to this Travis who for me has to be up there as the most improved youngster in the football league, Joe Rothwell w

He could have got better wages and stayed nearer Southampton rather than uproot the length of the country. Any player that shows dedication to the club deserves some credit from me. Personally I quite like him, think he will do well for us. Loans to pick up from next week. Believe gk is closing

  44. Really? You think the pressure would be less if he had gone public and aimed for midtable? Who on earth aims for mid table in this garbage division? Look at what Neil is doing at Preston or what Warburton is doing at QPR. Ambitious managers who set out to win every week. Even if the aim was top 10 we aren't even going to get near that. Mowbray is getting stick for a number of reasons none of them to do with his aims for the season. We are regressing. We are awful to watch. We collapse every time we go ahead. We are entering a relegation battle. His transfer dealings are awful. He's

  45. So you wouldn’t clap Mulgrew on his return? Our captain who nearly jeopardised his international career to stay with us in league 1? He was one of the hero’s of that promotion campaign, scored a record amount of goals and got the winner to send us up! He’s as much as a hero for what he did that season than anyone who played in the premier league glory years. That season in league 1 was as important and equally as enjoyable as any in our long history. I agree with their being no room for sentiment in football and I concede he didn’t look great on Saturday. However give the man a bit of res
