He was signed by Wolves after he played for the town team in the final of the English Schoolboy Championship and started his career with great promise (37 goals in 34 junior appearances, 11 goals in 27 reserve games). He failed to progress but was considered a bright prospect when he came to Ewood. Able to play in either of the left sided positions he was more often found at inside forward and scored on his debut. However his experiences with the reserves prompted the Rovers to release him. He re-discovered his scoring touch in the Southern League with Ipswich. A market trader in Walsall he later bought a newsagent’s shop in Telford.
