  1. Good performance, helped turn things around. He's come on and put in effort everytime he's been asked to this season and no one can fault him for his application and attitude. He has to stay and, more importantly, he has to play. Can we give up on trying to be a rebranded Bolton and play two up front please, a formation where we are quite clearly better.

  2. How anyone can question Benni after today is beyond me.

  3. I believe that Sam won't have any option after today. He would be stupid to put Pederson and Diouf ahead of Benni

  4. Benni is and always has been a class act. We don't have enough class as it is at Ewood to be able to keep Benni on the bench.

  5. I thought he played well today, especially in the first half. It was also nice that he was applauded from all parts of the ground when he was subbed.

  7. Watching Public Enemies on DVD and dissapointed really. The fact I'm on here says it all! Heat is still Michael Mann's best film! Btw, District 9 is superb if anyone hasnt seen it. Rovers 3-0 Pompey!

  8. Reading some of the comments on here, Benni seems to have become a much better player while he's not been playing. I'm sure that if he did start for a run of games we'd all get back to moaning about him like we did the last time he was in the team for an extended period of time. The fact is that our forward combination of Dunn and Di Santo is the one part of the team that seems to be working. Are we missing loads of chances? No. Our problem is that we aren't creating enough, and Benni isn't going to help that.

  10. Different class today - changed the game, showed Pedersen how to terrorise tour full back too. Made a massive difference and deserved a goal, his assist for Roberts was inch perfect.

  11. If you like Juno, there's a chance you might like Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Another quirky indie flick.

  13. This post is beyond belief. This season there had only been two games where we have not got the result we would probably have expected before the game; West Ham at home and Sunderland away. We picked up a better result against Villa than most would have predicted, and by all accounts, most people around here will tell you a point is the minimum we should have got at Sunderland. The truth is our team isn't that good at the moment, certainly not a brush on what it was a couple of seasons ago. With that in mind, the win all the games we would 'expect' to is a fine achievement, and like when Hughes first took over, we'll have to build the team by buying a new first teamer a season. People always twitter on about the negative football, and it's pathetic because it's all born from pre conceived opinions about Allardyce, which people are unwilling to change. The football under Hughes was not great, and was all built around being hard to beat. There is not much difference between Hughes' and Allardyce's systems/tactics, the only difference is the players, something Sam can't be blamed for, not for another season or two. McCarthy, for the past two seasons has been ABSOLUTE @#/?. Awful. I wish we'd have sold him after his first season. He has a decent goal return, but an awful lot of them over the past couple of years have been penalties. He should not be in the team, and I would prefer Dunn playing off Di Santo every time. And, like it or not, that combination is working. Everyone is concerned about the away performances, but the results are as expected. I think the performances, when push comes to shove, are down mostly down to our general low quality of player compared to the top teams (a few years ago our team had a few players who could get in their teams, not any more), as opposed to the system they are playing. Anyone who thinks Benni McCarthy is going to improve the fight and influence the result when the going gets really tough is on a different planet, as he's never done it before.

  15. Spot on Scotty. In the same way, Emerton had become a world beater that could play in just about any position by the start of this season. Another few weeks and reality will kick in. Hell, if Andrews gets injured for a few weeks, he'll become a £5 million internation midfielder. As is often remarked about other things, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

  16. He's fit enough for half a game with a point to prove. He had a poor spell prior to being dropped, some people have short memories. We had so many offsides in the first half today, Benni might as well have been on from the start!

  17. Speak to people who KNOW the story. He hasnt been doing the business on the training ground and hasnt even passed the required fitness tests that the players are subjected to. Attitude problem, likes too many big macs and beers and has a seriously big headed attitude according to many. Once he knuckles down there is no doubting his class. I would LOVE a back to basic Benni McCarthy in a Rovers shirt becasue he has the class, he has gotten too big for his boots and needed a reality check.

  18. It's just that he's not fit. If he was I'm sure he'd be a starter. Sam pretty much said as much before the game today on Radio Rovers. Until Benni sorts himself out, he'll be restricted to a super sub role.
