Rovers face Morecambe in the Carabao Cup first round on Tuesday night in the first competitive meeting between the two sides in history.

It will be the 62nd League Cup campaign Rovers have been involved in and only six times have the club been knocked out at this stage of the competition. Three of those came in three consecutive seasons during the Gary Bowyer era – losing on penalties after a 3–3 draw at Carlisle United in 2013, before embarrassing home defeats to Scunthorpe United and Shrewsbury Town in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

The Ewood attendance for the opening day victory over Swansea City on Saturday only just scraped above the 10,000 mark so there is a possibility that a record League Cup lowest attendance at Ewood this century may be recorded – with only 3,448 having turned up against Crewe Alexandra in the second round in 2016.

The lowest ever home attendance in the League Cup is 2,161 in the second round second leg against Wimbledon in October 1985. Rovers won 2–1 on the night but lost on aggregate due to a 5–0 reversal in the first leg.
