Rotherham United vs Blackburn Rovers (3-2) - Match Review

Blackburn Rovers lose on the road after a 5 goal thriller against Rotherham United at the New York Stadium. Rotherham United coming out 3-2 winners after takixng an early lead via Semi Ajayi header from a Will Vaulks long throw. The Millers held firm till half time, however Rovers started the 2nd half brighter and leveled the scores through Amari Bell's 2nd goal of the season. However as Rovers do, we could not keep the match level and Rotherham took the lead once again via Williams. Β As Rovers searched to get back into the match Semi Ajayi scored his 2nd goal of the day to put the match out of sight. Β Rovers did have some hope as Charlie Mulgrew scored from the penalty spot in the closing minutes, but it was too little too late. Massive points for Rotherham, whereas Rovers need to tighten up as we could see us sucked into a relegation vacuum. Rotherham Β United: Rodak, Mattock, Vaulks (c), Ajayi, Forde (Williams, 46), Taylor (Crooks, 79), Towell (Wiles, 53), Robertson, Ihiekwe, Smith, Jones. Unused substitutes: Price, Wood, Yates, Newell. Birmingham City vs Blackburn Rovers (2-2) - Match Review

Blackburn Rovers stopped the recent run of defeats to force a draw against a Birmingham City blessed with a very decent attacking force. Birmingham opened up the scoring through Che Adams midway through the first half. To be honest, Birmingham could have scored a few more goals, so Rovers very lucky to only be one goal down at half time. Early in the 2nd half Charlie Mulgrew leveled the scoring direct from a corner kick. Β With the scores level, Rovers searched for a winner, however Birmingham also threatened. Β However it was Rovers who took the lead via Danny Graham to give Rovers belief that we could win this game. However the red hot striker Che Adams had other thoughts, and snatched a share of the spoils with a difficult strike from a tricky angle. In this video we hear from two Birmingham City supporters Sean Guiden and Jack Iles as well as Tony Mowbray. Also we look at the match stats, heat maps and comments from around social media. After 90 minutes, the points were shared and I feel Rovers should be happier. Birmingham City: Camp, Morrison (c), Colin, Maghoma (Mrabti, 57), Adams, G. Gardner, Dean, Jota (Mahoney, 70), Jutkiewicz (Vassell, 77), Pedersen, Kieftenbeld. Unused substitutes: Trueman, Davis, C. Gardner, Harding. Goals: Adams, 17, 85. Bookings: Rovers: Raya, Nyambe, Rodwell, Mulgrew (c), Bell, Smallwood, Travis, Bennett, Dack, Reed (Armstrong, 67), Graham. Unused substitutes: Leutwiler, Rothwell, Brereton, Nuttall, Evans, Conway. Goals: Mulgrew, 52, Graham, 83. Bookings: Mulgrew, 47, Smallwood, 86. Referee: Peter Bankes.Β

Blackburn Rovers vs Middlesbrough (0-1) - Match Review

Blackburn Rovers continued their recent poor form as they were beaten by playoff chasing Middlesbrough 0-1. The only goal of the game came in the 1st half through danger man Brit Assombalonga who also scored in the reverse fixture. Rovers were dealt another blow as they were reduced to 10 after Derrick Williams received a straight red card on a challenge on Ashley Fletcher. Rovers dug deep in the 2nd half and seem to perform much better with a man less on the field. In fact Rovers has two golden opportunities to level as both Bradley Dack and Danny Graham had great opportunities to score. Rovers will hope this torrid run will end next time as they kick on towards Birmingham at St Andrews. In this video we hear what Tony Mowbray thoughts about the match, catch visiting supporter John Gaunt's take on the result, plus match stats, heat maps and more. Rovers: Raya, Bennett, Rodwell (Nyambe, 46), Mulgrew (c), Evans (Travis, 46), Reed, Brereton (Bell, 46), Dack, Armstrong, Graham. Unused substitutes: Leutwiler, Smallwood, Nuttall, Conway. Reading vs Blackburn Rovers (2-1) - Match Review

Blackburn Rovers make it three defeats in a row, after they lose on the road against relegation threatened Reading. Despite dominating the 1st half it was Reading who took the lead right on the stroke of half time as Swift scored Readings 1st of the match. Mowbray deciding to leave Dack, Graham and Reed on the bench, opting for a much changed attacking trio up front, had to swallow his pride and bring both Dack and Graham on to try and salvage a result. However Rovers equalizer came from an unlikely source that being Bell. Bell's strike made it an interesting final few minutes, however Reading pounced for the winner with Oliviera scoring the winner with only a few minutes left on the clock. Reading: Martinez, Yiadom, Moore (c), Swift, Aluko (Meite, 46), Ejaria, Miazga, Oliveira (Bodvarsson, 90), Blackett, Richards, Kelly (Baker, 80). Unused substitutes: Walker, Gunter, Harriott, Barrow. Blackburn Rovers vs Bristol City (0-1) - Match Review

Blackburn Rovers could not keep Bristol City at bay and lose their second game in a row. Bristol City who came into this match on a rich vein on form continued their impressive season and maintained their playoff push. The only goal of the game came deep into the 2nd half when Pisano bumbled in a corner. To be fair Rovers offered little response with any chances at a goal being minimal. The result pushes Rovers down to 13th in the league where as Bristol City remain in 6th. Brentford vs Blackburn Rovers (5-2) - Match Review

Blackburn Rovers fell to a heavy defeat against Brentford at Griffin Park losing 5-2 which ends their recent 4 game winning streak. In fact the result is Rovers first defeat in the league in 2019, as for Brentford however their nice run continues with this being their 5th win back to back. Rovers in fact burst into life at the start of the match scoring two goals within the first 10 minutes. Β The 1st a nice goal for Bradley Dack, with the second a nice set piece scored by Danny Graham. As for Brentford they clawed their way back into the match before half time to reduce the deficit. However in the 2nd half they exploded into life with a quick equalizer scored by my danger man Olly Watkins. After that, with Rovers searching for a winner the game was stretched, and Brentford took full advantage of that a took the lead. 2 further goals were added, as we tried to get back into it.Β  Ultimately Rovers fell short, and Brentford kick on up the table. Hopefully Rovers can bounce back next weekend against Bristol City. Brentford: Bentley, Henry (Odubajo, 46), Maupay, Watkins, Mokotjo (McEachran, 85), Sawyers (c), Benrahma (Canos, 80), Dalsgaard, Jeanvier, Konsa, Barbet. Brentford vs Blackburn Rovers - Match Preview - 2018/19

Next up for Blackburn Rovers its a difficult road trip to Brentford. Rovers come into this match in very good shape, winning 4 out of the last 4. Β In fact they have yet to lose any Sky Bet Championship match in 2019. Brentford are also in good form, and come into this match unbeaten in the last 6. Β They may be in 18th spot in the table, but they are on the rise. A win for Rovers could see them sneak into the playoff spots. Blackburn Rovers vs Hull City (3-0) - Match Review

Blackburn Rovers make it 4 wins on the spin after a fantastic performance against red hot Hull City. Rovers coming out on top with a 3-0 win with goals from Adam Armstrong, Jack Rodwell and Harrison (sign him up Tony) Reed. Hull who had been on a long unbeaten run looked lost without ideas, whereas Rovers looked hungry and took full advantage early on. After a dodgy Christmas period Rovers remain unbeaten (100%) in 2019 in the league and will look to kick on next week against Brentford at their place. Rovers: Raya, Bennett (c), Rodwell, Lenihan, Bell, Evans, Travis, Reed (Conway, 81), Dack, Armstrong (Rothwell, 81), Graham (Nuttall, 74). Blackburn Rovers vs Hull City - Match Preview - 2018/19

Blackburn Rovers return to Sky Bet Championship action when they take on red hot Hull City at Ewood Park. Both sides come into the match on 40 points in the table. Rovers meanwhile, have won their past 3 league matches most recently a 2-0 win against Ipswich Town. Hull City have turned a massive corner and after a tricky start they have shot up the table.
