Brentford vs Blackburn Rovers (5-2) - Match Review

Blackburn Rovers fell to a heavy defeat against Brentford at Griffin Park losing 5-2 which ends their recent 4 game winning streak. In fact the result is Rovers first defeat in the league in 2019, as for Brentford however their nice run continues with this being their 5th win back to back. Rovers in fact burst into life at the start of the match scoring two goals within the first 10 minutes. Β The 1st a nice goal for Bradley Dack, with the second a nice set piece scored by Danny Graham. As for Brentford they clawed their way back into the match before half time to reduce the deficit. However in the 2nd half they exploded into life with a quick equalizer scored by my danger man Olly Watkins. After that, with Rovers searching for a winner the game was stretched, and Brentford took full advantage of that a took the lead. 2 further goals were added, as we tried to get back into it.Β  Ultimately Rovers fell short, and Brentford kick on up the table. Hopefully Rovers can bounce back next weekend against Bristol City. Brentford: Bentley, Henry (Odubajo, 46), Maupay, Watkins, Mokotjo (McEachran, 85), Sawyers (c), Benrahma (Canos, 80), Dalsgaard, Jeanvier, Konsa, Barbet. Unused substitutes: Daniels, Dasilva, Ogbene, Sorensen. Goals: Benrahma, 13, Watkins, 59, 74, Maupay, 79, Canos, 90 Booked: Barbet, 45 Rovers: Raya, Bennett (c), Rodwell, Lenihan, Bell, Evans (Brereton, 62), Travis, Reed, Dack (Conway, 52), Armstrong, Graham (Nuttall, 52). Brentford vs Blackburn Rovers - Match Preview - 2018/19

Next up for Blackburn Rovers its a difficult road trip to Brentford. Rovers come into this match in very good shape, winning 4 out of the last 4. Β In fact they have yet to lose any Sky Bet Championship match in 2019. Brentford are also in good form, and come into this match unbeaten in the last 6. Β They may be in 18th spot in the table, but they are on the rise. A win for Rovers could see them sneak into the playoff spots. Meanwhile, earlier this week I caught up with Daniel McGee who is a Brentford supporter to talk about that match, and get a quick summary of Brentford's season so far. Blackburn Rovers vs Hull City (3-0) - Match Review

Blackburn Rovers make it 4 wins on the spin after a fantastic performance against red hot Hull City. Rovers coming out on top with a 3-0 win with goals from Adam Armstrong, Jack Rodwell and Harrison (sign him up Tony) Reed. Hull who had been on a long unbeaten run looked lost without ideas, whereas Rovers looked hungry and took full advantage early on. After a dodgy Christmas period Rovers remain unbeaten (100%) in 2019 in the league and will look to kick on next week against Brentford at their place. Rovers: Raya, Bennett (c), Rodwell, Lenihan, Bell, Evans, Travis, Reed (Conway, 81), Dack, Armstrong (Rothwell, 81), Graham (Nuttall, 74). Unused substitutes: Leutwiler, Williams, Smallwood, Brereton. Goals: Armstrong, 10, Rodwell, 18, Reed, 73 Booked: Rodwell, 86 Hull City: Marshall, Mazuch (Lichaj, 43), Stewart, Evandro (Campbell, 46), Grosicki, Kane, Bowen, Henriksen (c), Kingsley, McKenzie, Martin. Unused substitutes: Long, Pugh, Milinkovic, Batty, Ritson. Booked: Grosicki, 64 Referee: Jeremy Simpson. Attendance: Β 13,589 (1,259 away)

Blackburn Rovers vs Hull City - Match Preview - 2018/19

Blackburn Rovers return to Sky Bet Championship action when they take on red hot Hull City at Ewood Park. Both sides come into the match on 40 points in the table. Rovers meanwhile, have won their past 3 league matches most recently a 2-0 win against Ipswich Town. Hull City have turned a massive corner and after a tricky start they have shot up the table. Β They come into this match on the back of a respectable 2-2 draw against Aston Villa and Villa Park. Blackburn Rovers vs Ipswich Town (2-0) - Match Review

Blackburn Rovers make it 3 wins out of 3 for 2019 after a solid performance against strugglers Ipswich Town. Rovers winning the match 2-0 with goals from Danny Graham (penalty), and substitute Joe Nuttall wrapping up the win. Blackburn created multiple chances and could have been 3 goals to the good at half time, however we were not clinical enough in front of goal. Ultimately Rovers pace and creativity caused tio many problems for Paul Lambert and his men. Rovers: Raya, Bennett (c), Lenihan, Rodwell, Bell, Evans (Smallwood, 82), Travis, Reed (Rothwell, 46), Dack, Armstrong, Graham (Nuttall, 74). Unused substitutes: Leutwiler, Nyambe, Brereton, Conway. Goal: Graham pen, 65, Nuttall, 74 Booked: Lenihan, 68, Nuttall, 76 Ipswich Town: Gerken, Chambers (c), Pennington, Chalobah, Skuse, Keane, Sears (BIshop, 82), Elder, Judge, Collins, Quaner (Lankester, 67). Blackburn Rovers vs Newcastle United (2-4) AET - FA Cup Replay - Match Review

Blackburn Rovers crashed out of the FA Cup after an exhausting encounter against Newcastle United. The final score of the match after 120 minutes of action was 2-4. Β Rovers actually started the match in the worst possible fashion conceding in the 1st minute. Β Newcastle then extended their lead making it 0-2 midway into the first half. Rovers clawed their way back into the match via Adam Armstrong, before Darragh Lenihan made it 2-2 on the stroke of half time. Newcastle United got the curcial 3rd goal in extra time via a dubious goal which on 2nd look was clearly offside. Β After that the game was stretched and the toon snatch their 4th. Newcastle will tackle Watford in the next round. Rovers can switch focus to Championship football. Rovers: Raya, Bennett (c), Nyambe, Lenihan, Bell, Travis, Smallwood (Rothwell, 102), Reed (Dack, 78), Brereton (Conway, 65), Armstrong (Nuttall, 73), Graham. Millwall vs Blackburn Rovers (0-2) - Match Review

Blackburn Rovers continued their unbeaten start to 2019 as the beat Millwall 2-0 and The Den. The goals came very late, the first via Joe Nuttall, not the prettiest of goals, but very vital. Β The 2nd came in quick succession as substitute Adam Armstrong scored via an excellent counter attack. In this video we hear what Tony Mowbray had to say after that match. Β We take an deeper look at the story of the match and get the thoughts from both sides of the fence, with a video from Millwall supporter Michael Avery. Millwall: Archer, Meredith (Williams, 87), Hutchinson (c), Cooper, Wallace, Ferguson, Romeo, Tunnicliffe, Elliott (Morison, 3), O'Brien (Gregory, 68), Leonard. Blackburn Rovers return to league action this time they head down south to London to take on Millwall. This will be the second time these two sides lock horns, after the first encounter ended 0-0. Rovers come into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw with Premier League Newcastle United in the FA Cup. As for the hosts they come into the match on the back of a FA Cup victory over Hull City. Millwall's recent form could cause some concern for Rovers, as they have won 4 out of 5 in all competitions. Newcastle United vs Blackburn Rovers (1-1) - (FA CUP) Match Review

Blackburn Rovers continued their 2019 in unbeaten style as they held Premier League Newcastle United to a 1-1 draw in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. Blackburn took the lead through Bradley Dack who made it two goals in two games. Newcastle equalized via a penalty deep into the match Matt Ritchie the goalscorer. To be honest I felt Rovers were in control of the match, and could find themselves a little bit unlucky not to have made it through to the 4th road proper. Rovers and Newcastle will go again in a replay, and both names for now will go into the hat for the 4th round. Newcastle United: Woodman, Schar, Murphy (Atsu, 75), Ritchie (c), Hayden (Shelvey, 58), Kenedy, Manquillo, Lejeune, Joselu, Sterry, Longstaff (Perez, 80). Unused substitutes: Harker, Clark, Rondon, Yedlin. Goal: Ritchie pen, 84. Booked: Ritchie, 90. Rovers: Raya, Bennett, Lenihan, Mulgrew (c), Bell, Travis, Evans, Armstrong (Reed, 70), Dack (Williams, 85), Conway, Graham (Brereton, 79). Unused substitutes: Leutwiler, Nyambe, Rothwell, Downing.
