Should Dunny have come home?

  1. 1. Would you have signed Dunn?

    • Absolutely no way. The guy simply isn't fit enough for Premiership football

    • It's a big gamble, so probably not.

    • Sitting on the fence here.

    • Yes, even if he can't regain full fitness, the presence of a true roverite will lift everyone around the club.

    • Brilliant signing, he should never have left.

I agree w/ OZ on this. There is no room for romanticism if BRFC are to make the next step. Conversely, this move would only make sense if we were in the Big Club's position and needed to consolidate our support and talent for a run back at the Premiership.

We can't dish out a good chunk of our transfer kitty on a player we KNOW will spend 85% of the season on the treatment table. We've had enough of that w/ Amo, Gresko et al.

Cheers

Here's a helpful hint- read the thread.

I've read the thread and, more pertinently, the thread title.

Should he come home?

I'm sure his family in Great Harwood would be delighted if he came home.

However as a player at BRFC I don't think it will happen given his form over the last 2 years/matches.

We've signed enough deadwood in the past...time we drew the line.

76% that stat settles it for me, we shouldn't even think about signing him. Unless we make him live in an oxygen tent for the rest of his career lol.

He is a great talent but we don't need a player who will spend more than 3/4 of the season on the treatment table.

The porn boys wouldn't sell him back to us anyway at a bargain basement price but hasn't David Gold said that a lot of player have to go so he can run the business at a Championship level.

I think you'll have to re-read that ihtd; the 76% stat isn't "matches David Dunn has not featured in", it is the percentage of the fans who has missed him the most the matches he hasn't played.

So the 3/4 injured isn't entirely correct, that poll isn't really bad news come to think of it - it just shows the quality Dunnie has when he's fit. We all know he's been injured a lot, but we also know he's been playing when really - he should've been rested. With strained muscles, that's about the worst thing you can do!

This is just repeating ourselves really, we'd just have to wait and see. Personally, I love the thought of him coming back, because I'm sure Sparky can make it work if he signs. If he doesn't sign, Sparky clearly believes he has passed the point of no return - and I'll be fine with that too.

The whole thing is based on rumour, which is based on wishful thinking by nostalgic Rovers fans.

agreed ozzie. people are getting caught up in the romance of the idea and not the reality (souness' fault or not, people have also forgotten his awful displays towards the end of his time @ rovers).

'IF' he can prove his fitness over the next 2 seasons then maybe.....

but he wont be coming back, anytime soon.

Let the fat ###### beg for a game at Burnley, the original club he supported

Not sure about that pal. His Dad is a burnley fan but Dunny never originally supported them.

Sign Him up!!

I think Dunn would best serve at a club like Manchester United. Ferguson could pick him up for 2million pounds and if he performs like he should then it was a great transfer, and if he is injured all the time then who cares because they have more money to spend on other players.

Blackburn cannot gamble as much.

I don't know if I was hearing things last night but did anyone else hear Craig Short mention David Dunns name during his HT interview?

He was refering to retiring and not wanting to chase the likes of Bellemy, Henry and Rooney round anymore. Then he looked round to the crowd and I'm sure he said oh and David Dunn as well. Like I said I don't know if I miss heard but aren't Dunn, Flitty and SHort all good mates?

The way I heard it he was suggesting he was returning...

Interesting to see Dunn in the boxes at the BBE yesterday with some hangers-on from Great Harwood. Some one did a hand written sign "Dunnie has signed today." Any truth?

I hope he hasn't but if he has only a on pay-as-you-play deal and only that as he needs to start earning his money after in my opinion with his injuries he has ripped the big club off but that isn't a bad thing, i just do not want to see him do the same here to a club he also supports like us.

Heart would say yes to him coming home everytime but my head says No No No No...Hell No just because of his injuries, he is more unlucky with them than what Darren Anderton and Jamie Redknapp were put together.
