He got potted as a Rovers youth team player.Then moved onto Blackpool.

Just checked - Carlisle played midfield in the B team when he was a schoolboy - he was let go because it was thought he would only be good enough to play for burnley. ;)

Problem is it could backfire after a good drubbing. :P

Carlisle is a very nice, intelligent chap. Had some problems in his past, but came through strong. Also got dropped for being off-form - and came back to play best football of his career.

Alcohol related problems.

Wonder if those old injuries will come back to haunt him in the Prem.(getting on a bit, and the higher physical demands)

Seem's the allocation has been sorted at our end.

From Rovers Mad.

I have a friend who works in the safety department at Ewood as an assistant to John Newsham, and after a series of meetings this week, they have agreed on the decision to only give burnley around 2,500 tickets, a quarter of the darwen end after the segregation which will be on the Burnley side of the fence. With season ticket sales going so well the club want to make sure as many loyal rovers as possible can see the game. The same thing is likely to happen for Man Utd,Liverpool etc.

Follow up post.

They have decided against giving Burnley the upper tier because of how the turnstiles are arranged (upper - lower - upper - lower) which would mean rovers and burnley entering the ground next to each other. At least they aren't getting 6/7,000 like the previous 2 times.

I swear to god that at both league and cup matches at Ewood I NEVER saw one Burnley shirt around the vacinity of Ewood!

i saw about 30 in one group getting escorted that was all.they were all brothers to!

It was made clear at the Fans Forum that no Rovers fans would be in the Darwen End due to the segregation issues outside the ground.

So if the 2,500 figure is correct, it'll be a very empty DE.

2,500 sounds about right to me, to fill the darwen end with the inbred Dingles.

Don't forget they are mostly made up of conjoined twins!!

Why ?

All John Newsham and the police have to do is organise special entry into the lower tier via the sides, totally isolating the back for the Burnley fans or isolate one half of the back and contain them within the walls of the car park allowing home fans in the other side .

Or else the club should organise special entry through what are the exit doors, one on the Jack Walker side the other on the riverside side, surely either one can be implemented .

Yeah I wouldnt have thought it would be to hard to segregate, burnley fans straight into the bus park at the back of the DE whilst rovers fans have to exit round the back of the Riverside.

I suppose, in the cold light of day, your point is a sensible one Dave. When however, has sensible got anything to do with football support and it's ideosyncratic passions? I dont suppose it was sensible to loath and despise Burnley whilst we were jousting with Man Utd in the mid 90's. I did though.

I have heard Rovers fans say stuff like "It's only Burnley, let them have their day in the sun." Not for me. One of the saddest days for me as a football fan came when they stayed in the league by the skin of their teeth. If they'd have gone down they would have folded and I would have been ecstatic. All this talk of "six easy points" is also garbage. I dont want them to have a single, solitary shot at us. Especially as they have uncovered an alchemist of a manager who not only could easily outfox Allardyce but mastermind a Stoke like survival.

No, I'm absolutely gutted today. Almost as low as if we had gone down.

Pathetic. I worry about what we do, not Burnley or any other club. There seems to be a sense of fear amongst so many fellow Rovers. I guess our performances this year are the reason for that. Bring em on I say. Top 4 are already decided next year, and the next...and the next. But a good old fashioned derby between 2 old clubs in Lancs? Now thats football. thats what I`m talking about.
