Wilder awaits you AJ,let's see you face a real dangerous fighter.

I'd give Fury every chance too.

Did the weight loss have an effect on his punching power as he never seemed to hurt the Mexican much.

He's probably the best we have but just not convinced by him.

I'd definitely say his lower weight lowered his power. Although to be fair he wasn't trying to load up and throw his usual bombs or plant his feet.

Backed Ruiz up plenty times but he's a tough little bit for sure. He'll be back around 17 and a half for a centre of the ring scuffle with Pulev. A fight that has its dangers but far more suited to Joshua's normal style.

Ruiz Jr is a scary opponent, even when massively overweight (even for him) and facing an opponent who's physicality easily kept the Mexican at a comfortable distance and allowed for easy rounds from jabs, he always looked like he could seriously hurt Joshua if he got a chance. Came close a couple of times as well. Would have been a career-ender for Joshua, and for me he looked like he was still fighting demons from their last match throughout all 12 rounds. If he's so scared of Ruiz' hooks, how will he handle Wilder's cross?

The mental hurdle to get through that would have been massive after the previous pasting, all caused by his brains being scrambled by a howitzer on the top of the nut.

In the end it did him a favour and switched him on but the rare times Ruiz got close you always felt he'd hurt him again. Few HWs are made of cast iron though they all get hurt from time to time and most of the best have hit the deck or been beaten at some point. So he's come through that sticky patch now.

Secret to Wilder if there is one is to nail him before he nails you both Ortiz & Fury had plenty of success but one is just too slow the other quick but pillow fisted at top level. Joshua would have to make advantage of his extra weight and strength, his speed and power probably fall somewhere in between that of Ortiz and Fury. He really isn't chinny either that's just for the haters but he doesn't seem to have a great one either, average on that score. Take away Wilders one trick pony signature shot and there's always a chance.

As for Ruiz i hope he gets back some focus and stays at it he's a lot to offer the top ten HW there's some good fights for him.

Hmmmm, this interview hasn't aged well for AJ.

"Did he impress you in that Klitchko fight, Fury, in terms of his evasiveness? "

AJ - "Nah, boxed 12 rounds and run, I don't respect that.........he just boxed and moved."

Fury's wasn't a rematch though and he does box like that all the time he does what suits him. Joshua went toe to toe with the same guy 18 months later and his youth and strength prevailed. Understandable he might have a dig hellfire Fury literally lives off AJs back publicity wise.

I think he's learnt the hard way though after that interview but lets keep digging around looking for excuses to pan him. Meanwhile Fury gets forced to sign for the Wilder rematch by the WBC and before and after runs away from ANY other meaningful HW fight.  Runs off to a fake sport in fact whilst also trying to do a Mayweather with UFC guys.

Good ability he may have but there is only one big dosser in HW boxing currently and it isn't Joshua, just look who's banding that interview about...

Heavyweight boxing often writes its own rules and when two top guys go at it there is rarely such a thing as a sure thing.

Ali will bash Frazier,  Holmes will batter Spinks,  Tyson will kill Holyfield,  Lewis will school Rahman,  Wilder won't lay a glove on Fury,  Ruiz will end Joshua's career.

It'll be interesting to see.

There's nobody to blame but the man himself and the only person who's turned it round is himself. I don't believe very much that comes out of Fury he's a very slick operator how he plays things but i'll give him credit for getting fit again.

If he wants to feck about wrestling or whatever he'll do it regardless, i also believe he'll have ditched Davison with good reason, btw when he went off the rails his Uncle had died, he'd beaten Klitschko, his dad was in the clink, he'd been done for PEDS, stripped, relinquished and suspended.

Not the case now, he'll be up to something to try and make a statement and get in Wilders head, which won't work at all by the way he's too strong a character himself.

Depression strikes without warning, and since he is bipolar the mania is probably the same. Then comes the post euphoria crash. You kind of say his mental health talk is over hyped and is used as PR but that's partially true. The wrong people around him will lead to the ups and downs, the risk taking out of the ring, and all the other things.

Yes you can't just switch it on and off, it doesn't just go away when you get offered 50 million for 5 fights.... ?

Probably part of the reason, besides the money, why he's gone wrestling is to keep himself occupied. He said he wanted to have fun when he came back hence this and a string of underwhelming opponents allowing him to play act a bit.

The next Wilder fight could well define him or end him it depends how he handles it. Ironic really seeing it's been him howling for 6 months that Joshua was finished.

But he's nothing if he isn't ironic !

Joshua runs around for 12 rounds poking his jab out, is out-timed and flustered every time they exchange and even though Ruiz is badly overweight and clearly hasn't trained, doesn't get close to putting him away. One, two, run away. Zero combinations. One of the highest grossing bore-fests of all time. Yet Joshua is suddenly lauded as a tactical genius and everyone marvels at his new found boxing prowess. His opponent was completely unfit and had no chance of winning. Joke of a fight, total non-event.

Looking forward to the Fury v Wilder re-match very much. Fury had lost approximately 10 stone in the year leading up to that fight and in my considered opinion will be much better, fitter and more resilient this time round. Wilder presumably will also be better, knowing what he has to face. Wilder confident he sparks Fury out but I can't see it, even though most others have succumbed to Wilder's power. Fury saying he takes Wilder out. Fury also saying he has three fights left in Wilder, Joshua and Whyte.

At least both fighters will have trained for this one and trying to win.

The Dosser v The Tosser

Or the windmill v the runner.

Couldn't really care less who wins this battle of 2 of the most overated heavies in modern history.

Do have a feeling though that Fury might just spring a KO surprise. Wilders been getting away with it far too long.

What a fight from Fury,Wilder looked battered!:o

Took the fight right to him from the first bell, moves so well for a big lump...you have to respect the man for what he has overcome in his personal life.

His boxing reputation as well as his bank balance is set to increase greatly and deservingly so.

Earned.

In all sports there’s always the most desired outcome. Footy beating the Germans. Rugby beating the all blacks in New Zealand. Cricket winning the ashes down under. In boxing watching a heavyweight Brit dismantle a yank Champion in America to take a belt will always be a great watch.

Can’t see there being a rematch. Wasn’t close enough as a fight. Presumably Joshua v fury next fight.

From early on was only going one way but in round 5 you could tell the ref was panicking a bit about Wilder losing but the writing was on the wall. Bit surprised that the judges didn't all have it as wilder winning on points they don’t like the home boys losing.

We used to say - " You've got to win over there to get a draw ". A bit like playing the Red Rats at Old Trafford back in the Fergie era.
