Its been 5 months since the incident and why it has taken so long for the CPS and Police to decide. Its pathetic

The will be looking at who and how to prosecute..OR... how not to......

If it goes to court any decent brief will get Ben off or at worst a light non custodial.

His side have the 2 lads as their star witnesses, the fact that the 'others' started their banter inside a bar and continued it outside when Ben, Alex and their new 2 pals were on their way to do some more clubbing.

The fact is that one of the 'others' was armed is crucial.

The guy he punched was a soldier too.

We needed more of that sort of fast bowling instead of Broad and Woakes. Wood was injured at the wrong time, but surely we have more proper fast, nasty bowlers playing.

Do we?

The problem Is County cricket and when 4 day games are played.

I named about 4 or 5 young county bowlers who bowled fast according David Lloyd

In Australia, we do. It's no coincidence that Starc, Hazelwood, Cummins and Johnson when he played tonked us down under. Their aggression and sheer speed terrified us. Woakes is good in English conditions (or he was finally doing it before that big injury), and Broad is still pretty good at home, but the Kookaburra ball and the pitches don't help swing bowlers. We need a variety of fast bowlers including 90mph+, bouncy, vicious bowlers. Pick the bowlers according to the typical conditions of the foreign tour and not because they are centrally contracted, or can bat a bit.

Can anyone see this? . . England could become so obsessed with winning down under that they'll lose the Ashes at home to give Smith what he desires.

Everyone knows that in cricket winning a series away is the true test of a good team. India are the no.1 team in the world, but even they aren't so hot away from home.

Stokes should have been playing in the Ashes.

I reckon he will be found not guilty when it comes to court.

I don't, the video shows he's guilty.

The punishment will be a fine and community service though, and everyone will just get on with things again.

It makes no sense to me he was left out of the Ashes, but now he's been charged its ok to play? The ECB have not exactly covered themselves in glory with those decisions- sounds like they need an actual policy in future.

We have to agree to disagree. Stokes stood up for 2 men being attacked. Im pleased he didnt just stand there and do nothing.

I think England were influence by us getting beat in Oz. Also Bayliss, Root and Strauss probably wanted him back him.

Also Stokes might have took the ECB to court over a restriction of trade as he is innocent until found guilty.

I will be surprise he is found guilty aswell.

On the video evidence he is 100% guilty of affray - in fact he is lucky the charge wasn't more serious. Now, there may well be mitigating factors involved but when even your own mate is saying "That's enough Ben" yet you continue to throw punches you are on a very sticky wicket indeed - pun intended.

You could be right on the sentencing, depends his good his brief is.

He will make a big play of protecting the two guys against thugs, one armed with a weapon - the bottle.

Flanagan showed again what money can buy and he used a weapon in his assault - his shod foot.

Personally I hope Stokes gets off with a slapped wrist and a commendation for bravery.
