Mercer
Frank Kopel has died aged 65. Rovers signed Kopel from MUFC in the late 1960's (think the fee was about £25,000) and had high hopes for him. Unfortunately, he didn't make too many appearances in his 3 or so years with Rovers before moving to Scotland. Latter years seem to have been particularly harsh for Frank and his family owing to dementia. RIP former Rover.

McClarky
Kopel had a great career at Dundee Utd after he left Rovers. he was there in the period when they were coming up under Jim McLean and won a couple of League Cups. Left at the start of the season they won the Championship as Muarice Malpas had replaced him. RIP
Proudtobeblue&white
Bit before my time, my big book of Rovers facts states he was at the club, 69-72, played 23 times, scored two. Always sad to hear of a former player's demise.
blondie
Tremendous servant for Dundee Utd, his career stalled at Rovers .Heard an interesting story about his signing ,which may have been a reason for the stalling.Nothing untoward on his behalf ,more a reflection on how Rovers were run at the time .To lose somebody as young to such a debilitating illness is heart-rending.Deepest sympathies to his family, a true gentleman by all accounts. Tyrone Shoelaces
I remember watching him play for Rovers reserves one night. A guy in a crowd of about 750 really had it in for him and the two of them had a slanging match that went on for the whole of the half Kopel was on that side of the pitch. You could hear them going at it all down the Riverside.
