I don't normally comment on this site, but the Telegraph does get my blood boiling. It's changed from being a good evening local paper, to one that's not worth using as chip wrapping. I stopped buying the rag when it went to a morning edition, and started using the internet version. That piece of rubbish is now completely full of pop-up adverts! I've now been diverted to gambling app sites. Surely this is very dangerous when young children use the site. I e-mailed their "web" manager telling them so, and telling them I have now stopped using their site. Response - NONE! The only way is to completely boycott this garbage.

Sorry, might be repeating something I previously said here, but...

It's the way lots of businesses are going, JohnGo - outsourcing entire departments to "specialist" companies who offer an all-in-one package that is cheaper and easier to budget for. These "specialists", who are admittedly smart for deciding to do what they do and making huge business out of it, end up becoming a monopoly. The result is a "samey samey" solution for everyone who uses it. Check out other "local" paper sites. A lot of them will have the exact same look and feel, because it's the exact same software.

It's no different to Rovers' marketing, which I suspect is outsourced now, including the website. I've seen other football websites with the exact same awful style that Rovers have. These are effectively products that are sold on the cheap to save costs for those that buy them. There can be upsides, such as new features added, easier integration with ticketing systems, etc., but to me, the biggest downside is sterility and no identity.

There's no stopping it, really, other than to be aware of it if you work at a company that currently does stuff like this in-house. If you are, you're lucky.

Hi Phil,

I've read your comments a couple of times. I agree with your observations, but they miss the point of my post. I was highlighting that lowest common denominator reporting, and cheap American (look who's the ultimate holding company) business practices. By boycotting this rubbish, advertisers will move away, and even if the "Lancashire Telegraph" is lost it's won't be missed. How much does this paper put into the local economy? It's not printed locally, I'm sure most of the reporting/admin staff are not based at the Boulevard. Good ridence!

I don't buy the LT, but I've heard that there are so many typos in the LT these days. Maybe that alone is indicative of a poor product. More importantly, it sounds like nobody really cares much for the alleged poor quality of read in there any more.

Just having the base set up locally would make a difference by default, as it once did, but with the common words in businesses over the last five years being "efficiency" and "streamlining" (sugar-coated terms for cutting jobs and increasing profits), I would think the Telewag would die a death with lack of readership before it ever came back to Lancashire.

Love this line from the LET. Makes them sound massive! The power of language :)

JOHN Filan saluted a ‘good night’s work’ after Blackburn Rovers Under-21s made it through to the Lancashire FA Senior Cup second round with a 5-4 penalty shoot-out success at non-league top-flight outfit Barrow AFC on Tuesday night.

Looks like the Journalist is a Oxymoron

The LT on-line has all the best headlines (this is from the LT tonight):

"Woman pretended to be man to dupe friend into having sex 10 times using prosthetic penis".

It should have read:

"Man pretended to be a football manager to dupe chicken farmers into being shafted by false promises.

This must be the worst headline the Telegraph have ever had. It makes us sound like a gang of brick layers.

http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/14386655.We_must_maintain_spirit_level__insists_Blackburn_Rovers_midfielder_Lenihan/

Well at least the foundations look to be solid enough, sometime a (plumb) line had to be drawn between accepting poor/below par and promising, and things seem to be pointing in the right direction

Why don't you give LT a call then if you don't like their current choices? Genuine suggestion...though their (print edition) language filter is probably stricter and more enforced than on this site!

Nothing wrong with the Jury.

I sometimes give my views on the jury. I enjoy giving my opinions

Abbey's the one who complained about it I don't even read it usually.

As I suggested Abbey give the LT a ring. Doubt there's people breaking down the doors wanting to be on the "jury" to be honest.
