The USA has always had an edge of a fascist state about it when it comes to law and order, nationalism and fixing elections. Now the police have the equipment to go full Judge Dredd after the army sold them the surplus gear from Iraq.

Tulsi Gabbard (39) and Pete Buttigieg (38) are both slightly younger than me, Andrew Yang (45) slightly older.

Julian Castro (45) withdrew before the Iowa caucuses, Wayne Bessam, Beto O'Rourke, Tim Ryan, Seth Moulton and Eric Swalwell are also all under 50. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will be eligible to run for president in 5 years' time.

More details about the prospective candidates

Thankyou for the link above. Lots of names

I think US Army Major Richard Ojeda would be decent choice. only 49 years. Experience in the army and earned 2 bronze Star Medals.

Tim Ryan, the US house of representative from Ohio 13 district for 7 years and 11 years of Ohio 17 district. So very experience in how the House of Representatives works and the Political cycle works in Washington

Eric Swalwell, U.S house of representative for the California's 15th District. only 39 years old.

Pete Buttgieg was good in the debates. Plus has experience 8 years in the US Navy.

Maybe if Biden does lose in 2020 election, Maybe its time for Michelle Obama to run.

I can't remember the name of the last right wing head of state to order the shooting of his own citizens from a private bunker. Name escapes me. I'm sure there's no comparison to be made, anyway 🙄

I always liked Buttigieg, and look forward to seeing AOCs career play out.

Did well in the debates but will he appeal to less die hard Democrats supporters. Guess we see in 4 or 8 years time

Tiananmen Square comes to mind. Interesting point that's always confused me----on the political spectrum Trump is on the extreme right and the Chinese Communist Party on the extreme left.

Therefore they are about as far apart as you get.

In reality though, what's the  difference?

Trump's speech and PR photo outside of the Church was pathetic. He just making it worst.

Now Trump saying he will put the Miltary on the street in States. 2 State governors have said he cant and it's illegal for him to do so.

The comments by the 2 democratic governors on CNN are spot on about Trump's actions. The Governors were New York's Andrew Cuomo and Illinois's Jay Robert Pritzker.

Many of the protests seem to be peaceful during the day, respect on both sides, but once nightfall arrives the scum take advantage and are looting the country.

No excuse for the looting, you're destroying your own communities and then you're allowing the message on racism to get lost in the mayhem.

So sad to see.

I've always felt political swings formed a circle, so the furthest apart you can be is socialism and capitalism.

Communism and Fascism lead to the same thing through different ways.

My feeling exactly. You could never call Donald a Communist though so I'm happy to settle with fascist for both of them.

Trump is only interested in big business who are his allies, the Communist Party of China is the big business.

As a Christian, I'm appalled to see him waving his Bible as if to say God is on my side. God shouldn't be used like that. It's been a problem throughout history that people have used religion to legitimise whatever they want to do. The church in the US and across the world should be calling him out for this.

By and large the organised religions have gone along with whatever policies the governments of the day have instigated.  I was reading the other day about the escape route for Nazi war criminals after the last war that was organised by senior elements of the Catholic church.

Bob Dylan's " With God On Our Side " is well worth another listen.

Gav, I watched a few hours of the CNN Coverage last night/early hours this morning. The CNN reporter said the protest near the white house was peaceful and none violence

Some of the looting in New York was disgraceful. They aren't part of the protest that is fighting for a change of police measures and actions plus hate crime bill. So far leaders at the national level have been absent. Biden hasn't been as vocal as I think he should have been. I am surprise that former Presidents like Bill Clinton or Barack Obama haven't been more vocal.

it was a photo for his campaign to appeal to his voting block that like him just like the press conference was for shown to show his voting block he is law and order president.

In reality the Chinese have given up Communism when Mao died and Deng Xiaoping took over. You could say they are conservative with a small c as they want to retain the complete political control and the power structures with as little reform or introduction of concepts like the rule of law or an independent judiciary as possible. See what they're doing in Hong Kong by breaking the agreement with Britain as an example.

I was in a Chinese restaurant in central Manchester having my lunch one day.about a year ago. There was a big table set for about a dozen people near me. Just to make conversation with the waiter I asked him who the table was set for.

He said " A group of Chinese from Shang-Hai, they'll be here in a minute, they've gone watch shopping in St Ann's Square ".

Sure enough a gang of middle aged Chinese men and women came in and sat down at the table. After they'd ordered their meals they were all flashing the watches they'd just bought. Being a bit of a watch buff I could see lots " Rolex's ", " Cartier's for the women, with the odd " Patek Phillipe ".

So much for Communism in China.

As I said, it's been one of the churches problems throughout history. Unscrupulous people have used the church to legitimise whatever they want to do, and yes, the church hasn't always stood against them. Doesn't mean they shouldn't though.

Let me be clear. This is revolting. The Bible is not a prop. A church is not a photo op. Religion is not a political tool. God is not your plaything.

Trump also held the Bible upside down and back to front and the Bishop had asked him not to do this.
