Stanley

Recommended Posts

Stanley have the 2nd lowest attendances in the division (would be the lowest in a normal season)

Stanley have the worst pitch in the EFL. It's like someone build a ground on a cowfield.

Stanley have the worst ground in the EFL.

Stanley have the worst dressing rooms in the EFL. A portakabin FFS!!

Stanley have the worst commercial offices in the EFL

Stanley have the 2nd lowest budget in league 2

Yet to quote The Times..........

Quote

Accrington Stanley have the second-lowest budget in the Football League, the second-lowest average attendance, “the worst ground by far, the worst changing rooms by far, the worst offices you’ll ever see,” Dave Burgess, the managing director, says “but we’ve got team spirit, community spirit and togetherness.”

And remarkably little Accy are sitting Top of Sky Bet League Two.

A perfect season for me would see Rovers promoted, the Under-23's promoted, Stanley to win League 2 and Burnley to finish in the top eight of the Premier League.  If nothing else it would show those who seem to think that football success is the preserve of the big-spending city clubs that the traditional town clubs are still here and still achieving success.

Maybe you could question why I clicked on thread in first place (I certainly did prior but simply was tired of seeing the topic) but you can't blame me for responding after reading it. At least this page and the last anyway. I'm sorry but to suggest Accrington adds any relevance whatsoever to Rovers winning promotion this season is as small minded as it gets. Could you add a "hide thread" option possibly for those that are either of no interest, cause annoyance or sometimes both? I don't ignore any posters though and there's certainly a couple I can't abide at all. You aren't one of those and if I recall right admins/mods can't be ignored anyway?

I grew up in Blackburn of course (1986 being my year of birth) and that coincided with the 1990's. I didn't know any Burnley or Accrington fans then and I still don't. I always felt kids who supported United seemed more arrogant and dislikeable in general. Not to mention the club itself and the people who played/managed there! As for social media I don't really get involved in many conversations with Burnley fans. I also joined this forum shortly before twitter existed but I guess Facebook/Myspace was still around. That hasn't changed anything I still think United fans are the most obnoxious around not that I engage in conversation with them either. I don't like it when people mention Burnley fans chanting about Jack obviously but people ought to be more bothered about his family/trustees. Plus I don't believe Jack gave a toss about Burnley anyway. Certainly not while he was owner (can't say the 90's were ruined by the absence of any Burnley fixtures) and the whole "hatred" thing started more in the 1970's when Jack was already in his 40's.

Can't disagree with that. I get where your coming from

I was with you until you mentioned Burnley

That puts Lancashire United on the backburner for a while longer.

Guess I'm being arrogant and possibly still stuck in the 90's for not having any interest in Accrington whatsoever.

I think you have possibly answered the question for yourself in this post and the several which follow it.

I live near Chorley, have friends who support Chorley and the majority of local football fans will keep an eye on their results and how their season is progressing. Some, including myself, even go to watch a game from time to time. Similarly people have an interest in Stanley to which you can add there is a touch of "romance" associated with the club.

I've a passing interest in several other clubs for varying reasons; Wimbledon (of old), Charlton, Yeovil, Aldershot Town, Hereford United, York City, Blyth Spartans. Following the exploits of Colne Dynamoes was always fun. I'd hazard a guess the vast majority of fans are similar. I can see why you wouldn't appreciate or understand this.

If Stanley go up I won't be celebrating wildly but I'll smile quietly to myself, feel pleased for their fans and appreciate how they feel. It's what football fans do............

Just looked at the table and it would take a collapse of extraordinary proportions for Stanley not to go up.

They are three points clear of Luton with two games on the cow patch of a home in hand. Plus a long run of consecutive wins.

So we can resume the derby after 128 years if we screw up from where we are...

All Stanley have to do is finish top 3, and they go up automatically and their 11 points clear of 4th with a game in hand, win that and they are 14 points clear with 6 to play. They would probably have to lose every game from now until end of the season not to go up.

Frustrating that they've less points than we have from same number of games, also lost almost double what we have and scored less/conceded more. They've got promotion virtually wrapped up with 7 games spare whilst we could well need to win another 5 or 6 to secure it.

This is why nobody has any respect for football authorities.

Owners want to destroy a club? No problem!

Owner wants to buy players Maccy D’s for winning? Massive rule infringement right there that must be dealt with.

FFS

Oyston is involved with the EFL that says a lot. I'm commenting on this (after stating that I wouldn't post on this thread again) because its a sad indictment of the EFL in general. Maybe the EFL don't like McDonald's monopoly promotion lol.

Support Blackburn and Stanley but Rovers come first when home fixtures clash.

10 years ago I needed a strip for my old mans five a side team in Manchesterr

,Not prepared to soil myself like the others were doing by wearing a Utd rag   bought a stanley  one

.A fan since.

Stanley like us lose many of their  best players seasons end .

Coleman is good at replacing em spending next to nothing.. ..Its a great talent he has..

Think its is promotion if they win the next game..

Instead of looking at miniscule rule infringements the EFL should be championing Stanley as an example of a well run club who operate within a small budget and are on the verge of promotion. Andy Holt has been an excellent and responsible owner and deserves to be given more respect by faceless bureaucrats who don't live in the real world.

Embarrassing is the only word for them.

The League are cowards. They're always ready to try and bully the smaller and less well supported clubs. Like the FA who dish out harsh punishments on the non-league sides yet are nowhere to be seen when it comes to the Premier League and Championship clubs.

They don't like Holt because he's taken to twitter numerous times to criticise them and to draw attention to the unjust distribution of money in the game and their pathetic rules. They prefer offshore silent billionaires who get involved in clubs and splurge millions building up unsustainable debt than local blokes calling them out.

I think they can get promotion if they win their next game playing one of the sides that can catch them Exeter.

Stanley have won 17 out of the last 19!!

Stanley have 83 points

Only 2 teams outside the current promotion places can catch them.

Exeter can reach 87 points.

Lincoln can reach 85 points.

Stanley v Exeter on Saturday.

Win that and they are promoted !!!!!
