It doesn't matter what fee we receive for Grant Hanley if we don't use the proceeds to replace him/strengthen the squad. We will get a worse replacement in than him, that's for sure....

Why is chaddy liking posts showing bewilderment at receiving 8m for Hanley when he was demanding 10m yesterday?

He's allowed to change his mind!

From minute to minute.

This is all that really needs to be said.

£8m for Grant Hanley.

Wow, just let that sink in!

Which will make it about 28 million in transfer income in the last 12 months and NO reinvestment in cash buys. Just let that sink in......

8 million is a good offer for Hanley.

I hope the money is used to strengthen the squad. A keeper and LB would be appreciated in my books, plus a few other youngish players with potential to round out the squad and develop for next season as we'll likely sell again then, also.

Failing that paying down the debt would be a plus, also.

It was done mistake Adam actually. All sorted now.

10 mil is the figure. With that we can invest in 3 or 4 players.

1 centre back, 1 left back, a keeper and a pacey striker.

Wheater no thanks.

Brown no thanks.

Stuart, no replying to you cos I cant be bother to you.

Why do you give a toss? Have we reached new depths that we're scrutinising what people like as well as what they post? Jesus H Christ!

As this is the transfer thread can I ask IF we were (and I know we wont) but if we do get the Hanley cash to spend who would you buy??

Ive suggestion Morrison from Cardiff..

I guess we find out shortly either way. I know that Alan Nixon is doing a couple of Rovers stories in tomoz Sun paper!

Doubt it will be investment as hasn't he already said the LB and striker he's eyeing are loans ? That wouldn't be so bad if we actually threw a million or two at a good centre half.

http://sbisoccer.com/2016/07/atlanta-united-sign-tt-striker-kenwyne-jones

not that he's been mentioned since we signed Stokes and Graham, but Kenwyne Jones just signed for an MLS side. They're a new club that doesn't play until next year, so they're looking for him to play on loan until January.

But since he was a name bandied about, at least by some of the people on this board, I figured it was worth mentioning.

Are any of the more financially savvy folk on here able to advise the likely benefit of putting these transfer fees into reducing debt? What I mean by that is, is it actually helping out situation or just keeping the wolf from the door for another couple of months? Is it making a difference in getting us back on an even keel?

Finally!

I suspect the Bank of India will receive most of the fee we get for Hanley or any other player we sell. Brown seems the likely replacement. Personally, I'd like to see Lenihan given a chance at centre back. Whenever he's played in that role he's looked comfortable and is a good reader of the game.

Agreed. Sad state of affairs all round really.

I to like Lenihan at centre back - his distribution and reading of the game is excellent for a centre half - however I do worry about his lack of height at this level of the game.

I've no doubt that it will Parson. But why do I have this nagging feeling that we're relying on these big cash sales to keep filling a bucket with a chuffing great hole in the bottom?

If we are. And I'm sure we are. Then it's only a matter of time before we appoint a manager who stops producing these players. Hell, we might have already. Thus far we've been living off the canny dealings Bowyer made. How long can this last?
