Real Madrid are a vile club

Well I've always preferred Barcelona even before really knowing much about the political past. Really the issues there topple any grudge between clubs in England or most countries for that matter. Maybe the closest in the UK would be Celtic/Rangers because of the religious stuff though I don't like religion to begin with.

Of course the only real connection with Rovers (Salgado) was a positive one but you can't just judge things on that. I can understand why people would call them a vile club but even with their wide fanbase they aren't as "in your face" as certain clubs (can probably guess which one I'm thinking of) with their arrogance/vileness. Animosity in many cases has to be personally impactful. In Spain perhaps it would be a different story.

Here's an article that made me feel good; Man U transfer mess

I really enjoy the continued upheaval at Man U. Call me petty but it's good seeing them trawling around for lesser lights.

That'd be nice. Amazed that he doesn't get linked seriously with more jobs, what he does with that lot down the road is remarkable when you see how the division below is littered with bigger clubs.

Won't happen due to compensation. No way will Ashley pay millions out to secure a new manager. Will be someone unemployed.

Don't know how he managed to get a manager of Benitez's calibre in the first place. Suspect he was desperate to return to the Premier League and hoped to persuade Ashley to bankroll a spending spree.

Ashley has form for off the wall appointments like Kinnear, Pardew and McClaren so it would be hilarious if he did similar this time.

Then watch the media howl in outrage because Newcastle fans 'deserve better'

Are Newcastle not being taken over anymore? There was a lot of noise for a few days, now it seems very quiet.

Yer you're right, even if the takeover wasn't happening (although seems to have gone quiet) he wouldn't be spending money on compensation.

Avram Grant now being linked by Sky Sports.

Rafa was asking for £250,000 a week wasn't he?

According to this SSN article. Rafa was promised £50m per window and could still sign players on circa £75k per week. This wasn't enough for Rafa.

Those poor little lambs, so hard done by.

He's been offered 12 million pounds a year by some Chinese team, Ashley would not match it. I think he was on 6 million at Newcastle.

Oh dear, those poor long-suffering Newcastle fans, got to feel for them.

‘Long suffering’, whose fans aren’t outside the elite clubs?

They ‘deserve’ bugger all.

Interesting isn't it. Elsewhere clubs lose money hand over fist and are run completely unsustainably yet Newcastle are run relatively well as a business by Ashley, he refuses to sanction mega spending because the manager wants it, sticks to his policy arguably to keep the club on an even keel in the Premier League and he gets slated for it.

Seems the media cartel are in favour of clubs gambling on 'ambition' rather than being run sensibly.

Because the media have this romantic vision of the ‘Geordie Nation’, ‘52,000 passionate fans’ etc etc.

Even though they’ve done nothing for 60 years and are extremely lucky to have a whole region of England carved up by three league clubs.

A bigger Preston North End.

That's crazy money but they don't seem to bat an eyelid in getting someone like Rafa over for that kind of money.

Not sure how much premier league managers get these days but £6m per year seems like a good amount.

The media have their favourites and Newcastle definitely fall into that category. With the way they portrayed, you'd think they were winning league titles, cups and getting into the champions league only a few years ago.

Whereas, Sky try to erase our title win from history altogether.

As for them being long suffering fans, try having Venky's as owners!

I guess from the fan's view point, under Ashley they'll never win anything. Their only objective is to stay in the Premiership, same as Burnley.

Still makes me sick how the media fauned over them in the 90s. Never came as close to rovers winning the league but oh those wonderful Geordies with their amazing brand of football led by a clueless Kevin Keegan. Yet rovers had a good set of players, scored lots of goals, the media were sickened to see rovers challenge the great united and Liverpool. Rovers have won 2 trophies in the last 24 years. Newcastle haven't won anything in 50.

Can say the same about 75% of Premier League clubs though. The likes of Southampton, Palace, Watford etc. are in the same position as Newcastle yet we don't hear the media or their fans wailing every transfer window about not spending enough money etc. They just get on with it. Newcastle seem to think that just because they have above average numbers of support that entitles them to expect to compete with United and Liverpool every year. Not sure why given their history of mediocrity. Aside from a couple of seasons in the 90s and early 00s they've been an average Premier League side at best for the last 30 years.

Laughable. He's kept them in the premiership. Invested good money on players. Brought in good managers. Attended games. He's the antithesis of venkys. Really can't stand those Geordies
