Absolute madness. It pisses me off that the Scum can pay out £145million for a player and we, amongst most others can't afford to pay the players we have got. I'm no socialist but some of that money should be distributed amongst the lower league teams. The FA should enforce it. Instead we get sanctions for overspending. Stupidity!

What really riles me is £25mill for a parasitic agent. Money straight out of football.

I am in some agreement with you.

However, I'd like to see that a % of every transfer fee goes to the FA for distribution to the county associations. It can be divvied up by population.

it will never happen but I'd also advocate for a tax on each players wage going into the same fund.

This money could be used to pay for coaching education, buying equipment, ground maintenance, or subsidising fees at 3G facilities.

We'll see about Belgium, I'd love to see them do really well. Perhaps with Martinez, they could have played Wales a more solid match. Wilmots the former manager didn't really have the "killer instinct". Mtz. might do very well all the same. Solid.

Hmm, Martinez seems to start well, but then when things go wrong, he can't reverse it....

Added to the fact his teams never seem to be able to defend, it could be an interesting one!

A good wage structure and a 17th place finish is not a bad policy, target. They need a couple of seasons up there before they change their wage policy. It's very possible that greedy players/agents won't accept a relegation clause.

They have as good a Premier League squad as we have a Championship one but they aren't under threat of going bust in the near future.

Didn't know where else to put this and didn't think it was thread worthy.

A friend of mine was recently working at Brockhall, being a Liverpool fan he took great pleasure in informing me how 'we love venkys' is written all over the place in hidden spots (behind sockets etc). Now that's childish and sad enough in itself of course (he didn't write any himself), but whilst he was working there was a dingle joiner working that sneaked in a Burnley shirt and buried it in a bench (I'm guessing probably the one he had just knocked up). They need to check visitors for contraband!

How sad is that? So here's hoping for a Derby-esque season from them and hopefully a resignation from the dingle croaker (props to whoever came up with that one).

I've said it before and I'll say it again, so many of their fans are absolutely obsessed with us, it's embarrassing.

They all make me laugh, while they won the league, they barely celebrated and chose to have a pop at Rovers. In 1995 and 2002 I didn't give those gimps a second's thought!

Not sure where to post this, but maybe somebody will be able to help. I have it in my head that the original Premier League trophy still resides at Ewood Park. The story being that Jack Walker couldn't bring himself to hand the trophy back, and purchased it from the Premier League (for £500,000 I think). Pretty sure I was told this by somebody at the club at some stage. If anybody could provide evidence to the story, that would be even better. Need to help settle an argument with a United fan who confidently tells me "Fergie wouldn't have allowed that to happen".

Urban myth, would be nice but not likely really is it.

Josh King has just penned a new 4 year deal with Bournemouth as a reward for his performances last season. So pleased we kept him on the bench for the majority of his time here in the championship.

With most players Bowyer at least got a good performance every so often, but a couple of decent cup games aside he could never seem to get anything out of King. Admittedly the boy was injured a lot during his time here, but even when he was fit he was on the wing running into blind alleys and losing the ball. Any potential he had was completely wasted here, and unfortunately being realised at Bournemouth instead.

So, first game of the prem season see's last years champions playing Hull, a team bart a manager and a more threadbare squad than ours.

Half time, Hull 1-0 up........I'm gonna pack this betting lark in! I either have no luck or bad luck :(

edit: controversial penalty to Leicester - scored!! Things are looking up B)

Penalty against Hull seemed a bit harsh IMO. Anyhow, Snodgrass just bagged a nice goal for Hull, 2-1 Hull.
