Another that thinks he's better than he really is, sick and tired of these kind of players,  he (Lenihan) needs to take notice of the older pro's who really do want to get us back up because of last season, looks like he has no care for last season,  he played a lot of games, probably agent in his ear but hells bells get a grip  young man.

Have to say I am getting that feeling. Sometimes I hate football culture!

I inferred from TMs comments that it was his agent playing up, as opposed to DL himself. I just hope if we do keep him but he did want off then he gets his head down. League One, as we've now seen, isn't a place for players who haven't got their heart in it.

Well 5m or he stays and sulks for a few weeks, he has to remember who 's looked after him these past years, trained him made into a pro footballer, maybe all he is seeing is a pay rise.

I get that. But playing devil's advocate, we can't totally deny all the messages that have been sent by those who run the club.

As a player, would you think the club means business?

Lenihan's gone.

Almost certainly, Sheff Utd have been given further encouragement (player's agent) over their new bid.  It's all about the price now.  Better now than in 3 weeks' time.

If they match our valuation though, why shouldn't we sell? Thats the problem with our fans. There will be war if leaves, but if we get 3 million or thereabouts, is that a bad deal?

I agree that the sooner the better if he is going. Although unfortunately that isn't how the window works. Hopefully we have a plan A, B and C lined up and are ready to move if he does go. That extra money could come in very handy for transfers come January..

It's not the valuation/transfer fee received, its the amount that is reinvested.

Which is generally £0.

Not exactly true, over the past 7 years we've specialised in "investing" most of our money in unsellable players, paying players and managers off and overblown wages.

Mowbray has already denied that the £1.25m bid quoted in that story ever happened. I think that was first reported on Sky too. Make your own mind up who's telling the truth.

A current employee at Rovers told me that: "Lenihan needs to stop sulking and put his head down". A nice thought if thats the line at Brockhall, but realistically if thats how he is acting, he will go.

He should go on the bench he isn't a multi million pound Prem footballer he's a young lad with it all to prove even at this level. He isn't our star player and won't be theirs if he goes to Sheff U he's still wet behind the ears.

All he is is our most saleable asset in terms of profit and to be honest IF that is the case of him sulking i'd boot him through the door but only on a cast iron guarantee the funds are used for a correct replacement. As it is that won't be the case so time to make him realise who's boss and where he stands.

Ideal world get a decent roughhouse centre half in on loan who knows what he's doing and plonk this lad on the bench until he wises up and earns his place. Option to sell in Jan of course and being backed by 'billionaires' and having a bit more FFP freedom now Rovers should start front loading in terms of players.  Get good un's in before you sell the others, preferably loans with a view to buy, time to stop selling or letting these big headed muppets decide when they are leaving and take a tough organized forward thinking approach to it all instead of floundering around for any old bodies once they've gone.

No excuse not to operate like that now we are in this league.

Lenihan has done and achieved nothing, he's an ok player nothing special, he needs to get his head down and get on with it

He's been at the club 4 years we bought him from Belvedere for a small nominal fee.

I agree every time I've suggested he's meh at best the usual brigade come out.

There is a weird dynamic at play here. It's years of being screwed over when it comes to transfers. Now if we sell a player there is negativity attached, will the money be reinvested? In the past selling players was normal and in some instances positive. Now it's different. Unfortunately

Lenihan actually reminds me of this lad called Anthony O'Connor whom we had on the books a few years ago. Similar playstyle and attributes and both converted CBs. Lenihan is really not all that. Atleast not yet. So don't quite get the hype around him. Will never cut it at PL level. Midtable championship at best. Don't quite get what gets into footballers' head these days. Players who really not all that thinking they're the next Messi or Terry. Smh.

And I've never been comfortable with all these versatile converted CBs. Give me a proper hard nut who can only play CB.

On another note, all the decent players that have come out of the academy over the last few years/are coming out now are all defenders. When was the last time a Striker or midfielder from the academy made it?

The problem is, if / when we sell him, we will no doubt downgrade from meh to manure.

That's the issue. I've no problem with us selling or trading but we always end up worse off.

If Lenihan is attracting bids in seven figures then I think we should cash in for me he is a whole hearted player of limited ability and there are a number of such players available in division one and two at much less cost.
