Not the whole fan base at all, just on here 99.

The fans actually at games are very positive, very upbeat in the main.

I see alot on twitter and on here, people desperate to sort of ridicule and spread the myth that a large proportion of our fanbase feel like they know better than Mowbray, or are not enjoying the fact that we are competing for promotion and currently sit top.

Are there any quotes in this thread that suggest that fans arent enjoying it? Sometimes feel like constructive points, on tactics, on team selection etc that football fans always discuss and talk are being taken out of all proportion. People saying things like enjoy it and move on, fans like to discuss what theyve seen etc, and thats all they are doing imo.

For example, there was a few moans and groans and a few boos at half time yesterday, and that caused an influx of criticism of the fans for that. I didnt boo but I was frustrated, we were really poor and lacking energy first half, its only natural to become tense and nervous when it doesnt go our way, especially considering the last few years, and tonight its seemingly been replicated at Shrewsbury.

I had absolutely no dig at your attendance and clarified my position on what I said.

People are making observations on the game and the season in general. Like every other club in the country. The majority of the comments were acknowledging that we played badly and won. As did our own manager as it happens.

It’s daft and a bit mischievous to say people aren’t enjoying being top of the league. Who wouldn’t be? I certainly am.

You changed it, not easy being an objective mod is it :D and you did have a pop but we move on.

I'm sick of reading all the negative bunkum posted on here these days as you can probably tell, sometimes things have got to be said.

Not really involved in this conversation, but I was one of those to criticise the booing.

May have been different in the ground, but the Sky mics made it sound a real, real chorus at half time - the loudest sound in the game.

Hard to tell from S8 I know.

I was at the ground, just was more of a frustrated murmur rather than some of the booing weve heard in the past.

Booing the side at half time and full time is completely acceptable for me, you pays yer money, it's the only way fans  can express themselves.

But Booing short corners or our own players during games shows a complete lack of intelligence.

Agreed

Problem is though the players are not good enough to play a different position/formation each game without giving us more first halves like last night.

And far from bamboozling the opposition, their game plan regardless of who the boss is:

1) No free kicks within Mulgrew range

2) Smother Dack

3) Run through midfield at the Rovers defence

4) Big boys in close proximity to Raya on corners

You may be right, but personally I think a guy who has managed 600+ league games and whose team currently sit top of the division deserves a bit of respect.

I think it cannot be argued that the changes he makes during games, usually including formation change with several players changing positions, have worked extremely well of late.

Yes, if we could play like that for 90 mins and win every game 6-0, that would be even better.

Tony isn’t a great tactician but he has brought some damned good players in for relative peanuts, the latest being Armstrong who already has 4 compared to the 1 in 17 he got under whoever manages Bolton. That lad’s goals might be what gets us over the line, no matter what formation we play.

So the booing at the ground last night (and at quite a few other games this season) was actually coming from this forum?

The cheering for the goals and at the end of the game certainly wasn't coming from this forum.

Majority of people are behind Mowbray, footballs a game of opinions and no manager ever will be praised for everything he does.

Sometimes people are quick to shoot down anyone with any criticism that they consider constructive but does not agree with what the manager has done (not aimed at you or anyone in particular)

The reverse is true too of course, where some people always know better than any manager, and some players are always shite.

But opinions are, of course, like arseholes. When things are going relatively well I think it’s great that we have a place where we can all sniff each other’s.

Part of whats football is about  is having thousands of managers.

That said, the vast, vast majority of fans are clearly behind Mowbray in general and are happy to have him.

That said, there will be times between now and the end of the season when he does things which people wont agree with, times when the fans are frustrated with our result/performance, and a lot of nerves amidst the excitement. Its too be expected. Hope people dont jump on that and exaggerate it as that causes arguments in itself. As long as we are top (or second) at full time v Oxford then itll all be worth it.

I just saw lots of Rovers fans posting who were happy with the win but disappointed with the performance.

I can't remember too many games this season home or away where we've won and I've come off thinking "we played brilliantly today" but too be honest I'm not really bothered as at first it was alarming in the fact I'd think surely we can't keep performing like this and picking up results, but we have! It must be the sign of a team who is that good we don't even need to get out of first gear ;) that's how I've started looking at it from now on and that won't change unless we drop out of that top two at any point before the end of the season

He scores a few and definitely offers something different. Keeping him fed would take a large part of the budget though. Also, who is his agent?

If you put in his contract all chicken he ate had to be venkys chicken we would be playing champions league football in 4 seasons.  The man's wasn't born but quarried.

Changing the subject slightly, I was in my Jackman book today and more than a bit surprised to see that Gordon Lee’s 3rd Div champions team - which I remember as being good all over the park - won only two of the last 8 games of the season, losing one and drawing five. Just goes to show that when you go up, nobody cares how you got there.

I'm not even sure in your haste to have pop you read Philips points, all had absolutely no bearing on last nights game? Completely irrelevant.

Then you follow that up with a dig about my attendance, whilst backing someone who never goes to games due to living in Malta!

As a moderator you should be asking yourself why a side that's top of the league, enjoying its best season in years is having every thread swamped with negative comments, often irrelevant.

I'm all for different opinions, but it's become a joke.

Only my opinion of course :D

Why should a moderator be asking himself this? His job is to encourage free debate within the rules, not censor people's views.

Anyway moaning is part of our DNA in East Lancashire. We've lost enough of the old traditions over the years.

That's a rather abusive, unnecessary post considering it's partly aimed at me and I was only giving my opinion.

I really think the "If you don't know every available player in League One or Two you can't have an opinion on whether Rovers players are good enough or not" viewpoint is a bit football superfan-ish and gave that opinion. All Stuart did was back my views on football up and suddenly a load of childish drivel like that appears. What is that adding to the debate other than provoking hostility?

I notice Mr 'Always the Victim' finds it funny when the boots on the other foot.

Totally agree that Tony knows how to spot a player and even the ones that haven't worked out (Whittingham Gladwyn) looked to be damned good acquisitions on paper and the fans were happy to see them come in. Those are more than counter-balanced by Charlie Mulgrew whom many fans thought was a sick note past his best by date.

I will also add that after Bowyer, it is great that we have a manager who has a Plan B for every game. And a Plan C, Plan D....

Mulgrew was recruited by Coyle wasn't he. The only good thing horsehead did for us

While true, Mowbray has got so much more out of him this season than any of us expected.

Calm down darling. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings.

Yes,we all know rovers could have better players like Ronaldo,Messi, Inesta, Costa and Ramos. So let's compare our players to them seeing as you and others knowledge doesn't stretch as far as "League 1 or 2."

I would prefer to be a super fan than a know nothing fan. Plenty of posters on here are very knowledgeable. Those who say our players aren't good enough, yet can't name one realistic player who would improve on them ,don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to having a valid football opinion.

Anyway,that's just my opinion :)

I dont understand why you think its a suitable plan b, usually plan b is as simple as a target man, maneuvering between 4 and 3 at the back usually requires 2 subs and a lot of shuffling around, they are such different formations. 3 at the back needs specialists, it needs time to bed in which we dont have and it needs to be scrapped for the time being.

Last season it had a degree of success but in massively different circumstances, We were scrapping at the other end of a table, we didnt have the likes of Dack, Armstrong, Payne, Antonsson and Chapman to open teams up, we had 2 defensive wing backs and tried to grind out results. Now the onus is on us and the formation is too rigid, slow and defensive for the circumstances we are in.

We also played Mulgrew on the left, allowing him to step out, now his refusal to drop Williams meant that both of them are not in their natural position. If he wanted to play it so much, surely have Mulgrew and Downing left and right, with Lenihan whose the least comfortable and most athletic in the middle?

I also feel like its nullifying the threat of Dack by leaving him too deep, the wing backs arent naturally attacking enough, Mulgrews not capable of switching the play when playing as the most central of the 3, too many square pegs in round holes.

You seem to not understand the point of a messageboard. People are just discussing the game.

Lets hope Mowbray doesnt have that attitude, you sound like Mercer!

You're the one who has been constantly suggesting a massive formation change from whats got us here in the first place. Surely thats nit picking, rather than you sitting back and chilling...

Thats your plan B not mine way of a plan B

3-5-2 can work for us and why you have written off this formation very quickly I dont know but its part of the reason we got 7 points and 6 goals in the last 3 games. Being able to change from one formation to another should be easy after 6 months of working on it in training(Mowbray's comments.

Dack too deep in 10 role in 3-4-1-2 really? Same role as in 4-2-3-1 surely? The teams we are playing are decided  to crowd Dack and double up on him. No time or space for him.

I understand the messageboard fine thanks so dont insult me with those sort of comments

Change a formation to play 2 up front and Dack behind in 10 role and make us more solid defensively aswell. Armstrong is a striker. 4 goals in 3 games playing up front. Tell you where he should play..

Im.chilled and relax thanks. Very positive mood today
