Got to say how much I'm enjoying this season home and away. A few near does but we have been top three for the last 4 months and mainly top of the league since mid Feb'18.  Roundabout this time last year in the championship we were 3rd from bottom hoping the likes of Bristol City, Burton, Notts Forest and Birmingham (big club) would drop points, but sadly it didn't work out. In the championship this season its looking like Burton and possibly Birmingham will be relegated  with Notts Forest not too further up the league. But Bristol City are knocking on the playoff door.

As for Rovers now we're a strong unit at this level and well capable of at least avoiding the dreaded playoffs. Business end of the season is going to be one hell of a ride!

COYB :rover:

And all that with a cr@p manager and players! ;)

Gladwin reflecting on his first season...

http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/16139111.Ben_Gladwin_reflects_on_a__tough__first_season_at_Rovers/?ref=mac

All standard stuff, though he wasn't quite like as reflective in the Bonny Inn last night, by all accounts.

He told everyone in ear shot who he was, how much his tattoos cost, how he'd never been given a chance wherever he's been, and wait for it... how he's better than Dack.

This is the type of thing Mowbray and an administration ideally led by a tremendous micro manager could police more effectively. He shouldn't really be in a public house of all places mouthing off. Was Dunn with him? When he started making those remarks about Dack someone ought to have told him to shut his mouth and prove it. I wouldn't hold my breath on that though. Are any rumours he was struggling to settle in the area correct or has that improved at least?

This is the type of situation where Mowbray needs to show a more ruthless side. Is it any wonder that and other weaknesses (I'll forever remember that Wolves game last season) are why some aren't convinced by his skills relative to the best Championship level managers? OK I'm not saying ill discipline is never a factor elsewhere but I don't care. You have to make judgements based on a combination of factors.

Not sure I would ever want to judge Mowbray on his supposed treatment of a player that we haven’t seen all season and is nowhere near the first team....

Sorry - I worded it wrongly..should have meant CS percentage.

Matthews 22 played with 9 clean sheets - 42.9%

Walton 22 played with 15 clean sheets - 68.2%

Henderson 33 played with 13 clean sheets - 39.4%

Raya 38 played with 14 clean sheets - 36.8%

I know that Raya has played more but I am not certain he would have been such an automatic choice for the EFL team of the year had those three not been eligible.

This says swap Raya for Walton come the summer if, Mowbray wants to improve the team further.

In "defense" of Raya:

This season we have played 2 left backs (Williams and Bell), 4 right backs (Nyambe, Caddis, Travis and Bennett) and 5 CB's (Mulgrew, Lenihan, Downing, Ward, Williams). Not forgetting those woeful few games as a back 3. If we had played Williams - Mulgrew - Lenihan - Nyambe for 39 games, i'm confident those 14/39 clean sheets would be closer to 20+. You just have to look at his highlights on Rovers to see he's fundamentally our best shot-stopping since Robbo and Brad. If his kicking was better he'd be warming the bench in La Liga by now.

I remember people used to say if Jason Roberts had the finishing ability of Benni McCarthy we would have a player as good as Samuel Eto'o - Except that player would have played for a CL team, not Blackburn Rovers.

If Raya want's to continue to give a fan in the Riverside 3 uncontested headers per game in exchange for 3 (Steele/Eastwood/Kean/Any L1 GK wouldn't save that) saves... Then i'm more than happy. He's my undisputed No1 for the next season in whichever league we're in.

Flying again in training though. "His stuff in the training has been good, his short, sharp stuff, fast feet and everything"

The kids got it all. Just can't finish from a yard out the useless lump of peroxide. I'm surprised he's mouthing off. More front than Blackpool.

He certainly goes out of his way to try and justify that one lol

Its possible other fans find some of your posts shameful.

You're looking for nothing more than a bit of faceless cyber space jousting.

Cherry blue probably speaks for thousands of Rovers fans up and down the country, you speak for a handful, if that, very good post cherry and sums up the mood perfectly.

Stick to hating the owners MG, you'll at least muster a bit of support for your repetitive nonsense.

Its probably unfair to say people shouldn't enjoy the recent respite. The thing is though it might be too evident. Even if deep down people are enjoying actually winning games regularly maybe its better to "keep up appearances" so to speak. Venkys are in enough of a comfort zone over in their Pune palatial palace as it is. Its sometimes better to come across as less happy than you actually are. I'm not saying that's the case with me because I'm just pretty much being myself. Still even I've said that Venkys backing in the summer has obviously helped the promotion challenge. Some people have been scarred mentally by Venkys however and those scars don't heal easily.

Also as far as I'm concerned if/when promotion is sealed the celebrations should end the very next day. There's no clean slate with Venkys but getting back into the Championship could be the real turning point. I don't trust them a damn bit whatever happens in the next 12 months. Others might have a more positive outlook in the long run but we can't let them ride on the crest of a positive wave all summer. We need to see action taken immediately and demanding certain things be done. As I've said before NO room for error!

In fairness they are weeks away from making us Champions. We couldn't have done it without them.

But didn't Raya get in the League 1 team of the year? He must be good.

Because Walton is a loan player....

can’t therefore qualify for league team of the year.  Raya is quite good, but not as good as Wigan’s Fella

Still think what I said yesterday makes sense and suits everyone. Some people though look at things from a personal perspective rather than a club perspective. Isn't excessive praise playing into Venkys' hands not to mention the actual scope of the achievement? The mentality of the local public has often been a detriment to the club and those responsible are incapable of realising it. Nobody said it would be easy and its unfair to judge players on the past (if you're talking comparative with some of the best ones plus those who joined in summer) but we can't lose sight of the fact that missing promotion would be unacceptable under the circumstances. OK there was that bizarre collapse under Dalglish in 1992 but that was truly unexplainable. Plus it was Dalglish. It didn't damage the following seasons that's for sure.

OK other big clubs may have celebrated promotion but some of them had new owners. Leeds had an owner they didn't like (bit harshly in my view) and probably still celebrated but how excessive? I can't remember Forest, Sheffield W, etc. City fans celebrated (especially in the circumstances) but they were taken over before the season began. This club could still fall apart at any moment and we shouldn't lose sight of that. Look at my post on the Venkys accounts thread yesterday evening. They are still disrespecting fans assuming my guess is correct about who made the legal threat. However you want to celebrate (assuming promotion happens and I'm not being negative as I've already mentioned considering Rovers joint favourites for 1st at this stage) at the very least it shouldn't gloss over inactivity in the summer. Need to wait and see what happens there.

Is that not why Raya won it because he is not wigans Fella.
