We can't have fast players at Rovers until the fitness team finally get their head around some decent hamstring warm ups.

Does anyone remember a player called Josh King? At the time he was considered too fast for Bowyer and slow-boys.

Good points made about Mulgrew's fitness and capacity to play midfield in Championship.  he is undoubtedly good enough but I tend to agree that he plays at the back because it is less demanding and suits his game better at this stage of his career.  It would be madness to move him after the season he's had.

Lots of Scottish players being suggested, maybe we have a mole from the Anderson camp in our midst?

Dig all you want Jack. But my post back up by Mowbray playing Bemnett in 5 different position during the season

I thought i was on your block list?

Yes he has the ability to play many roles but what I and many are saying is that we cannot play him everywhere. When somebody suggests a RB to challenge Nyambe, we get, Bennett can play there, a new midfielder, Bennett can play there.

Football is a squad game and we need to strengthen in as many positions as possible. RB you have Nyambe, and overweight pub player, an inexperienced youth player and Bennett.  Surely you must see why thy think this position needs strengthening, especially as Bennett, in your view, is also cover for about four other positions.

You said it yourself, Nyambe, Travis, Bennett, Caddis. 4 players in a squad that can play there. If Nyambe is given August-Christmas to make it his full time slot, there’s literally no point in investing limited budgets that way imo. It’s the same conversation as Raya needing cimpetiion.

If he sinks, Travis gets a shot if Bennett is playing elsewhere. If both of them sink, and there’s no space for Bennett, it’s covered. If all three are injured, the pogdy Scotsman will do a “job” till Christmas.

When we’ve literally 2 wingers in the club- I wouldn’t spend a single pence on anything before at least 1 wideman! 2 if possible. The next priority for me would be Armstrong for at least another year.

After that would come an extra CM to challenge/better Evans and partner Richie, and then finally that nasty 6 foot plus Centreback I mentioned.

Cant see much room left if we sign 4/5 players unless a few leave. It would also block travis’s opportunities - someone I think looks very able, even if I’ve seen more of him in the centre. I can understand why Stuart and others rate him as a full back, he has the attributes, strength, bite, pace and can read a game.

The priority is wingers, back up striker and CM, yes, not arguing with that, even a CB possibly. This is not what the Chadster is saying though. He is rubbing off anyone that is suggesting we need to strengthen at RB.

Nyambe, Travis, Bennett, Caddis as you say, one is seen by some as a weak link already and was repeatedly targeted in league 1. Travis, for whatever reason did not feature much after his red card and many claim he will play midfield anyway. Bennett should be midfield in my opinion although he played very well at RB when asked. Caddis - do me a favor

We were strongly linked last summer but he signed a new deal at Bradford. We then took on Caddis but I thought at the time McMahon would have been a better option. I think there is a Middlesbrough connection with Mowbray.

Why are Bradford releasing him ? Just asking. I have hopes Nyambe might make the grade and Bennett might fancy making that position his own. Do we really need another right back given how light we are in other positions.

According to Chaddy, our team could be (with injuries),

                     Raya

    Bennett Lenihan Mulgrew Bell

            Bennett Smallwood

Bennett Dack Armstrong (should he come back)

Graham (Bennett if Graham is knackered)

No, Chaddy would prefer 3 centre backs.

I think the role of Bennett will depend on who we can get in. Where TM sees him playing next season will be interesting. I dont think wide is best suited to him anymore and feel RB or CM are the best bet for him.

If someone’s saying to me, I’ve got £x to spend, and I know that a backup right back is going to cost me a % of that, including paying off the 4th choice; Caddis...

Id say it’s pointless unless the player became available for absolutely the correct circumstances. All my £ is going towards those keys areas. I also think Nyambe is getting better all the time too. He’s got the stuff you can’t teach, the physical stuff - and whilst he was another proponent of our poor season two years ago in the championship, I think he’s moved forward. Deserves a chance.

Again, not disputing that other areas need addressing first.

Nyambe has come on leaps and bounds this year and I do think he has the potential to become a decent fullback at this level at least. It is what is behind him (considering he had an injury). Travis when he has come in has played CM, Bennett is a winger (ish) who is also meant to cover several other positions and is arguably the best option alongside Evans right now IMO and a CM and Caddis who offers little more than a beer gut. Even if we could get a decent specialised RB on a free it would be an upgrade on that - this is all people are saying.

To name a few? Who else?

Pretty sure you type this twaddle to get a reaction.

Caddis, Ward and possibly Evans but Samuel did look to have something out wide - not a striker in my book. Nyambe has improved massively this year but needs competition in that position.

You didn't attend any games last season did you JAL? If that's a boycott then fair play too you mate but to have such a strong opinion on players you've never seen in the flesh is strange. And nyambe "shyte"? Your obsession with the lad is way too much, I bet you've got posters all over your bedroom of him  he's a young lad who's got big potential and has shown enough to be given a chance to progress again next season. Bennett more than good enough to fill in at right back if nyambe flops.

I hope not. He didn’t look anything special when we played them. In fact it seemed like a bullet dodged at the time.

Yep, bullet dodged it would seem. Being released at L1 level is a sure sign that we should not be signing him up.

completely agree there Biz. I don't see the need for a right back. when we might not have a massive budget so other areas are more important like 2 wide player and another striker.

I also want to get Travis a path way into the 1st team squad

I would use Nyambe as I think he is more than good enough as mid table championship side right back

Ward is out of contract and Rovers have announce that we are releasing him. did you not see this?

what is your obsession with Nyambe and its being beyond the joke and its become very personal. what is your issue and I think you don't lkike his agent so you are against the player.

Keep Samuel for me. a player there
