No wonder people kick off when we sign a Richie Smallwood. Ano. Even when I saw Robert huth a big part of me was saying that's unrealistic and probably is. The problem is nobody knows if venkys ambition matches Tony's.

City were looking at him at Xmas and figures of 30 million bingo thrown about. Robert huth is a free agent. I'd love him to come but again I don't know how it would work wage wise Just what we need someone like him but I can see them going with the present centre backs and I think the idea will be nurture Lenihen till big money comes in for him.

Stuart
Sentiment could be our undoing this Summer. Not wanting to drop players from first XI to bench, we’ll end up replacing the loanees rather than upgrading any starters. Fingers crossed I’m wrong. A Huth is exactly what we need. Proven pedigree and better than what we have. We need a new striker too, and a right back. And a centre mid. And two wingers. Apart from that, we are in great shape. We got 2/3 already. Agree on striker, 2 wingers and centre midfielder. Need Armstrong back and back up number 10 for Dack

Fraserkirky
Robert Huth is the type of centre half we should be looking for imo. Big, ugly and uncompromising.!

I also have doubts about Nyambe’s ability for the Championship. Bell is probably more suited because of his pace otherwise we’d need a left back as well. BrisRover
I mentioned this about a week ago on the Facebook page but we should consider signing Jamie Maclaren from hibs if we can. He’s actually on loan from Darmstadt (Germany) and just scored another 3 against Rangers. He played for my Hometown club Brisbane Roar for a couple of seasons and is a real goal poacher. Scored a heap of goals for us. With Dack as the supply line he would score plenty and would feed off Graham as well. He’s at the right age to start hitting his peak. He’s also a former Rovers youth player to boot!

MarkBRFC
I think the only thing for certain, is that the players we do eventually sign will be players that won't have even been thought of on here, and they will all be met with negativity at first. Oh, and that nobody will be paying money for Corry Evans.
J*B
Jonny Evans? Tammy Abraham? Lewis Grabban? Chris Brunt? Bloody hell. It's like playing football manager on acid. Absolutely no chance.
gumboots
I don't think we'd get any of the above mentioned players but atm this IS fantasy football as we don't even know who's staying or going so how can we speculate on what we need other than writing our wish lists. Personally I'd never suggest players but it's harmless fun for some. Once the window actually opens well start to be a bit more grounded I think

I've always liked Brunt , very under rated player in my opinion. Having said that even if he were to come, which he won't, where would you play him ? Lately he's being playing more at the back than on the wing and we've already got two left backs. Plus there's the issue of wages. Even " average " Premier League " players are on mega bucks as are lots of the established players at the next level down.
MarkBRFC
The sensible way to recruit would be to try and identify some of the better players in this division who are hungry to make the step up, and a couple of experienced championship players who have been around the block a bit and know the league. Oh, and if that Oldham right back who Mowbray was terrified of back in Feb isn't our first signing then I for one will be extremely disappointed. tomphil
We have NO good right backs just a few who can play there but rarely with enough consistent form to do so for a season if fit. Can't see it changing it's been the make do and mend position at Rovers since Kean back stabbed his way in. From Salgado, Chimbonda, Jacobsen to ending up with kids Henley, Kane and an ageing centre half and midfielder filling in there in no time at all. Disagree with you on us having no good right backs Nyambe has improved a lot this year and I expect him to get better. He is only 20.Would like another right back to come in but after we hopefully find Caddis a new home

G Somerset Rover
No doubt he’s already been mentioned on here somewhere but would hope we move for Adelakun from Scunthorpe regardless of whether they go up or not, as the lad is out of contract and by all accounts won't be signing a new deal. Sort of young, creative player we should be looking at. Edited May 14, 2018 by Gavlar Somerset Rover!

Sort of young, creative player we should be looking at. Fully agree, there weren't too many outstanding prospects in L1, but he definitely impressed me at Ewood in December. The way i see it about 1/4 of our 'squad' needs upgrading/released. Caddis, Ward, Whittingham, Gladwin and Feeney being the standout 5 for me. Two being out of contract. Based on the last 46(92?) games, players like Adelakun are 100% an upgrade on the Feeneys, Whittinghams and Gladwins of our squad so we should - and probably will - look for these options early (similar to when Bowyer went out early and pre-contracted Eastwood, Judge and Chris Taylor - just with hopefully much better results). Rothwell, Camps, Niasala, Maddison, Nolan are all young (26 and under), fairly cheap/free, low wages, 100% attainable targets coming off outstanding seasons that would improve our squad (No, i don't think we should get all of them). After that i think we would only need a quality starting Winger or two plus some proper competition for DG and we would be set for battling it out for 9th come may 2019. Also, all this talk of Tammy Abraham is fantastic if not rather amusing. 1% chance . Someone like i dunno, Rudy Gestede, who has played 35 games in 2 years for Middlesborough and scored 13 goals in 4 seasons might be more interesting - not sure on his injury history now or how much £ he would cost in loan, transfer fee or wages? Rudy with Armstrong, Dack and (Chapman?) feeding off him would be something!
