Dylan McGeouch is having a medical at Sunderland, we were linked with this guy right?

And Reece Jones. 2 very good signings for League 1

Rich Sharpe we weren't interested in McGeouch

That Alex Rodman who was at Shrewsbury last season has joined Bristol Rovers on a free transfer.

Shrewsbury seem to be losing a lot of players but interesting to note that as yet none of them have been picked up by Championship clubs, despite a clamour from some for us to sign one or two.

Can’t be that good if he’s moving to League One.

Still a big pull, they are still a Championship club in many way - probably straight back up just like us. A year in L1 then its back to normal with them but this time with no debt to pay so expect them to join the heavy spenders next season.

Don't think these new owners have any money. They've taken the club on by paying in instalments with the parachute cash as security. Can't see them being heavy spenders by Championship standards unless some money comes on board. Probably still outspend us either way though.

Thought someone before said he was out of contract having turned down a deal?

He has a couple of options apparently Rovers and Rotherham being the main 2 he is thinking about as they will offer 1st team opportunities

he also has options in the premier league but these will likely be reserve team more than 1st team and also foreign interest mainly from Germany (the Germans can’t get enough of young English players at the minute)

there is a possible trump card in Rovers favour though, he has been friends with Joe Rankin-Costello since they were nippers and went to the same school etc, played in same school team and so on they also socialise in the same group of friends and from what I’ve heard he wants to join Rovers firstly

But there will be a transfer fee involved and he isn’t on peanuts coming from City, so it’s not a certainty

if he does sign Rovers are getting a tough tackling holding midfield player who is technically very good, he hits a decent free kick to, he’s left sided also and can play left back, he won City’s academy players player, and coaches player of the year as a 1st year scholar and is apparently only one of 2 players in this age group at City who has been offered a contract to stay at the club, which it seems he has turned down to further his career, so fair play to him for that

so I thought I’d share what I know and give you an idea of what you will get if he does sign

This one. I dunno.

You know its a slow window when people are discussing Grange Hill!

Red Top Funster just linked Grange Hill to Shrewsbury, Blackpool and Barnet

Might happen , might not, contract sticking point, unbelievable

When I see us being linked with a highly rated teenage Man City midfielder on loan I immediately think of Jack Byrne. Not fair on the player to have that view but it's hard not to see similarities and be wary as the policy failed last time round in the Championship.

I've made my views on loans clear many a time but for the avoidance of doubt I don't like them. Hope I'm proved wrong but I think we need to be getting proven experience in at this stage rather than taking promising kids from other clubs' academies.

Hope its just as accurate as the rest of the transfer rumours thus far, based solely on his profile.

We have Smallwood, Evans, Whittingham, Rothwell and Bennett, all of whom cover central midfield. Why we would need to sign a youngster on loan there makes very little sense to me, if it was permanent then maybe more understandable.

Agreed, teenagers in on loan have hardly worked out for us thus far (barring Chapman pre-injury) - if it was snapping him up at the end of his contract I would be far happier as he would be ours to nurture, develop and add value to.

When you consider how average Evans was last time we played in the second tier, alongside the fact that Whittingham was pretty poor, it’s probably not a bad signing. He impressed at Burton Albion too.

I just find it strange that we are potentially bringing in kids on loan in positions we are well stocked in when we are very short in other areas.

Saying that, he was very good on loan at Burton last season apparently. Still, we need permanent bodies.

Wouldn't have thought he could have been that great given they were relegated. Given TM's preference for experience hard to see him being anything other than another squad filler.

The other thing that doesn't particularly stack up is that according to the City fan who posted he had turned down a new deal at City to try and pursue a career elsewhere where he was likely to get a game. That being the case why would he agree to a loan move anywhere?

A defensive midfielder and one of his weaknesses is tackling. And we have Mulgrew for two of his strengths. Sounds like another player from the non contact Academies.

I wonder how the likes of Tomlinson and Travis feel about this (if it's true).
