You're assuming it's the same people though. Also, only seen two people talk as if they wouldn't want this to happen. Everyone else is redecorating their walls white in ecstasy.

Most people on here would hate him after a game anyway.

He’s Jordan Rhodes with an extra yard. Can’t wait!

Haha this board is comedy gold at times. Venkys get crapped on for not investing adequately (quite rightly) but then when the cash is stumped up we get told that we should be doing a much slower build! Others are saying we should only be signing players that go straight into the first 11 but then when one of those is rumoured to join they say “how could we possibly afford him”. It’s like spinning around in a circle of negativity at times. Let’s just dream for once and get a good nights sleep.

Almost like the 100s of different posters on here each have different opinions, isn’t it? Strange.

Why would Middlesbrough let him go then?

Boro don't play to his strengths so he's unhappy. Pulis doesn't like him. Balancing the books.

Madon has rarely been wrong so far this window and there's other sources that seem to indicate something is in the pipeline. The rumours i keep hearing and seeing is that he's one that's been offered to us rather than us going for him. Lets just wait until Thursday and see pal.

Perhaps you could find an MB that is worthy of you?

Id be absolutely amazed for so many reasons:

Why would Boro sell him to a team in 8th?

On what planet would we afford him considering weve already spent 10m this season?

Mowbray has repeatedly said he doesnt want someone on wages outside the parameters of our current wage bill. How would we afford his high wages?

Why would he come here?

How would he fit in short term? Dack and Graham are undroppable and critical to our team. So he either is a sub or out wide. Mowbray only plays one "attacking" wide man and at the moment Armstrong is in incredible form. He is far less effective wide anyway.

Hes 26, so obviously he would outlast Graham and be here for a good few years. What does that mean for the 9m worth of forwards we bought in the summer? Armstrong is on fire playing from wide but Mowbray sees him as a striker long term. And Brereton at 7m as ever is the elephant in the room. Then theres Nuttall too. You cant play them all.

Lets be clear on the quality of Assombolonga. He is a proven goalscorer over a number of years. He is far, far better than the likes of Sam Gallagher. He is a good age too, he would be a superb addition. But I dont see it happening in a million years sadly.

This is Venky world. Have they ever done anything that makes sense ?  You just never know.

Mowbray spoke after the Hull game about how Rovers had used the long diagonal to Graham less than normal. He's also spoke before about evolving the style of play. Graham can't go on forever so if there is a chance to bring a top quality forward in and the money is there then you'd imagine Mogga will want to do it. If we can commit £6m to BB we can commit £9m to a proven goalscorer.

You'd hope short term he's here as competition for Graham. Long term he'd be our No9. As it stands we have no real competition for Graham so signing a striker as good if not better than him is surely a priority. If Graham gets injured we won't be half the team we are now.

Mowbray needs to give himself the best chance of going up as Venkys will expect it. In order to do that he's got to sign the best players he can when he gets the chance.

I'll be as shocked as you if it happens mind.

Ok

Just playing devils advocate here.

Brereton was a leftfield, out of the blue signing.

Asambalonga (sp) another potential  leftfield signing out if the blue

Connection: Nottingham Forest

Possibility therefore that the same agent involved?

The same agent who was allegedly set to bring Gallagher in and move his other client Nuttall out might not be happy though although i'd put money on that little scenario happening ahead of anything else.

His wiki page says he is in talks with Rovers.

Someone has either put that up out of mischief or the story could be true. When has wiki ever been wrong ? ☹️

There was still plenty of it though. The first goal is a case in point, it centred around Grahams brilliant hold up from a ball lumped forward.

I would suggest that firepower of Assombolonga, Graham, Dack and Armstrong is as good as anything in the league. The problem is then the foundations on which it is built, ie maintaining the tight base we have created recently. As well as keeping all 4 happy when only 3 start!

The mention of us also signing Gallagher is something which particularly makes me question the information.

Well, i picked the wrong couple of days to not visit this board.

if we're being offered BA at 9/10 million, if Balaji is feeling flush we should definitely be biting their hands off. Proven goalscorer at this level, probably one of best strikers in the league on his day in fact. Big, strong, powerful and pacey and knows how to finish.

Seems Pulis doesnt fancy for him for how he likes his teams to play and other rivals are probably up to their limit in terms of their 3-year cycle? Ours has only just started so we might be one of only a few willing and able to pick him up?

Anyway, all that said...still quite fanciful stuff when you consider what his wages must be.

Wiki has him at 1.76 m.  He's small.
