Summer Transfer Window 2019

problem with players from abroad is whether they can setlle, adapt to the English game etc but I'd much rather go looking for the next Pukki or Benrahma (or whoever he is) than signing some guy TM managed at an old club or once had a good game against us with Delboy at LB.

That Vlap looks very handy - good feet for such a tall guy. In Holland it just seems that Ajax snap all the talent before selling them on across the world so would not be surprised to see him there next.

I am guessing he is in Netherlands watching some games :

AZ Alkmaar - Heracles. Adrian Dalmau, spanish 25 year old striker with 16 goals for Heracles.

SC Herenveen - VVV-Venlo. Michel Vlap, 21 year old attacking midfielder. 14 goals and 4 assist for Herenveen, he is also 191cm high!

PEC Zwolle - Groningen. Julian Chabot, 21 year old talented CB from Germany.

I'll take the lot!

Can’t see Liam Lindsay leaving Barnsley. He’ll probably do another season with them if they get promotion. If not, then he’d likely be a steal. Quality defender.

Music to the ears of many!

Sounds like he's ready for a busy summer

I think we can all have some guesses about players he’s sending messages to here and the likes of Smallwood etc will get a warm thanks from many...

Incidentally, Lenihan has been banging on about being captain all week in interviews... wonder if he’s had a word in the ear?

Player of the month. Seen him vs Barnsley on Sky and he looked ok...

Getting on better than Wharton it seems...

Would imagine TM to make a decision in preseason

I heard gladwin, conwayand leutwiler are going. With the likes of Samuel, nuttall, Smallwood being judged. I wouldn't get to carried away until he signs someone and plays them in the first team. I am absolutely convinced he will stick with the usuals even with new signings changing one or two after a few poor performances. I pray I'm wrong but what he says and does are never the same thing.

If he does what I've said it will be small improvements providing he gets the recruitment right but it won't be the ruthless get three or four first teamers in and push the usuals down the pecking order.

That’s about as good an interview as I’ve heard from Mowbray.

He needs to walk the talk though.

If he is true to his word it could be a very interesting Summer.

He needs to get rid of the ones who are out of contract and don't contribute. Those 3 should go. Rodwell too.

I think Smallwood and Nuttall might be sold. Mulgrew isn't playing so you'd think he might want to go.

I don't think any of those 6 would be missed at 1st team level.

He's certainly taking a more hard line approach, or wants to appear like he is. Gone is the talk of his own personal loyalty, instead it's now what's best for the club.

He's obviously been taking advice from his BRFCS mentors again.

All we can do is guide and support him. ;)

Agree with most of that. Rodwell is someone I think has real quality but lacks hunger. He’s the kind of player that would want a 3 year deal, accept two and then coast for a season. We would do well to hold out by putting a 12 month deal with a one year extension if he makes so many games.

Although I’m a fan of Nuttall I don’t think he is going to get a chance here, as his natural position is to lead and I’m not sure he can do that against Championship defenders. If he could bulk up then he could be an asset though. He is also up against the £7m man - whether that’s fair or not.

We are definitely light up front though and with Reed and Rodwell gone, light in midfield too. Williams has done well but I think we need a Mulgrew replacement to play alongside Lenihan and have Williams as cover. We also need to replace Mulgrew’s goals and Conway is our other man set-piece specialist so there will be a gap there too.

Raya definitely needs competition - even more so now that we have no No.2. A credible Championship keeper, not Canada’s finest.

We really do have a lot to do in this next window and then get them to gel.

Well he can’t do it on his own!

Non of it matters if he doesn't bring in better. If he signs three or four who arnt up to going into the first 11 no matter who he gets rid of I don't see how the team can improve enough to trouble the top six. His recruitment is everything.

Then he has to adapt his style of play and formation which will take some adjusting to.

This is all assuming we keep hold of lenihan and dack.

Only time will tell if it's going to work or not but at least he is saying the right things and is starting the summer in the right manner and mindsight.

Almost, just not so keen on the "creating competition" bit.  Rather hear better players that will push our current ones, or something of that nature.  That said, very positive from Tony but I usually like listening to him.

Sharpes article in the LT today says it looks more unlikely than likely that Rodwell will stay here. Not sure what he is basing that on, but there must be something as it's the most out on a limb call I ever remember him making. Usually he doesn't say one way or another on anything transfer or contract related

So where is he going exactly, is there going to be that many teams better than us interested?

Well said that man! I think my biggest disappointment would Nuttall moving on without being a given a fair shot. I get the sense though that he doesn’t give it his all in training, otherwise he’d have probably been playing a bit more now.

On another note, the transfer window might not be the full answer. The youth setup might be worth having a look into. From the Radio Lancs interview too, I get the sense that the wage budget needs culling for any movement in summer.

Nuttall won’t ever be good enough too start week in week out for us, move him on.

Glad you said it. He is truly terrible at this level.

Dominic Samuel is better than nuttall and brereton and I would sell him in a heartbeat.

We need some real strikers. Hungry, ready made goalscorers with ability not these failed experimental flops

Yes. It implies that certain individuals are good enough but need competition to get the best out of them.

I would argue that they simply are not good enough and competition wouldn't fix it. We would end up with equal mediocrity on that basis.
