I think the context of a few dead rubbers and comparing him to his previous very low level, he's pulling an optical illusion on you.....

In those games, he was fine at centre half, context or not! Just had my eyes tested last month and they're all good, thanks!

Not from what I've heard. They are picked 2 seasons in advance.

Ahh, so there's a long term plan to make us all stab our eyes out. Then it won't matter what style of play we use. Ingenious!

JESUS, have we not signed a GK or full back yet?

Apart from the City lad coming in who can play RB but is mostly a centre half, I have a feeling you may be very disappointed at the end of the window...

Goalkeepers and centre backs are the stated priority. Rightly so, though I'd definitely put a full back close behind. No mention of this from the club (or LT I think) all summer though. So don't pin your hopes on it, beyond the City lad.

Edit - further to this, this article really doesn't suggest we are planning to do much else about fullbacks. Joe Rankin-Costello sounds good though, but still untested.

West Brom fans are pretty insistent that he is not a competent right back. If we neglect this really poor area of our team then it will cost us points, undoubtedly.

Listen to our fans and all our players are not competent

Lets see if he signs, then give him a chance

Looked at the thread on their message board about him this morning. Looked like around November/December time he was getting some really impressive reviews. By the end of the season, less so, but with many fans saying that they'll still have him.

Something worth considering is that when you've had a few years in the top division, your frame of reference as to what classes as a good player changes a bit. Young lad playing his first full season in defence in a team which is expected to go up, but doesn't have the overall quality to do so (exactly like we hadn't) is a tough gig. He'll be better for the experience.

Yet another totally unwarranted attempt at playing superfan, something that has become sadly rife amongst our fans recently.

I made a comment about a potential new signing, not even about his general ability, but his competence in a position that isnt his natural one.

Defence is an area that we are quite blatantly and statistically not good enough in, and full back in particular was an area we was lacking in.

Dack, Graham, Lenihan, Travis, Rothwell, Armstrong, Johnson etc are all rated above competent so your needless attempt at pointing fingers at our "negative" fanbase was inaccurate.

Wonder why he played 36 games for them  if he isn’t competent.

On holiday in Majorca at the moment so not been keeping fully up to speed with what's going on but two weeks to go until the start of the season and from what I can gather there's still no sign of a keeper, and not much more progress on the CB front other than considering a 21 year old loanee from City.

Where's the experienced specialist CB we need?

Why have we shot ourselves in the foot by selling Raya? Completely unnecessary.

With the possible exception of Johnson, still a shocking window so far imo.
