I had a lot of time for Raya, I thought he had bags of potential. Having said that like every other player in the team  at the moment he's not stepped to the level of this league. He's making the same costly mistakes too often. Time to give the other guy a game ?

Brian Clough used to say he'd break the bank for the best possible goalkeeper. " Nobody can lose you a game quicker than your goalkeeper ". He wasn't wrong there.

Well after naming and shaming  TM will look a bit stupid if he doesnt drop Raya now. .

Mowbray was clearly giving last season's team a chance of proving themselves in this league. I personally think that they've done OK, but we clearly aren't going to be pushing for promotion with them now that the momentum has gone. He'll more or less have absolutely his own first team by the end of summer, and I still think that he deserves his chance to do that and see how it works out.

This is a football club not a charity. The managers job is to decide who he thinks can make the step up and who can't, instead of giving them new contracts and a chance to prove themselves.

The "cleansed" version. I wonder if the LT will edit theirs.

To be fair they don't  play in the same position. Rothwell isn't a defensive CM and he's apparently playing behind Graham today, which is probably his best position.

Smallwood isn't defensive either, in fact he's the most offensive player I've seen in our kit for 18 months.

I'm now 100% Mowbray out. Blame the GK for the 2nd and the "basics" all you want...

YOU (TM) changed the entire game 'plan' within 8 minutes and switched to a back 3.

YOU (TM) continue to pick the likes of Smallwood and Bennett.

YOU (TM) Have been in this job for 2 years and will get us relegated next season.

YOU (TM) have still yet to take 1% responsibility for any of the poor results we have had over the 2 years in charge.

I'll be putting £25 on a Preston win next week and for as much as I want us to beat them (I do) I'm almost seeing every loss as one step closer to him being gone.

Mowbray Out.

Its no good changing the back room staff if the manager isn't up to the job, we learnt that with Kean.

Mate, fair enough if you want to change managers but don't start comparing him to Steve Kean because thats just not on.

I just feel that a change of face who has fresher ideas might just liven things up. Perhaps someone a bit younger. Just speculating.

I am beginning to doubt Raya, who I did think had the makings of a top keeper.

I think a major reason for this is our goalkeeper coach. Ben Benson is 28 years old and was promoted from academy coach. Now, academy players need to be taught things like footwork, starting position, hand shape, technique etc. Raya should be well beyond these basics and these should be second nature.

As an established first team keeper he needs coaching on playing to his strengths... he can’t deal with crosses very well, but then again, neither could Brad Friedel, so he stayed on his line rather than coming flapping. His distribution is poor, so why on earth does he attempt to launch counters with quick kicks that seem to invariably go to the opposition or out of touch. Raya needs an old head who has been there and done it... I’m not suggesting we are going to get a world class keeper coach... Bobby Mimms was a good un, and while we might not get anyone quite on his level I’m pretty sure we can get someone who has actually played at pro level. Anyone can knock a few balls into him in a pre-match warm up, he needs some wisdom imparting, not the stuff the FA give you in a folder when you take your coaching badges.

Noticed the pattern. Goalkeeping coach, first team coach, chief scout, head of academy, first team doctor. All promoted from within. Wouldn't be anything to do with cheap options would it. Just thinking about it the one goalkeeper who didn't mind going into the traffic was on the coaching staff not long ago, John Filan. Have to feel for Raya. Has any other Rovers' goalkeeper had to play behind a defence that does not like to head the ball.

Think it's easier to call the goalkeeper out because he's a lot younger than the likes of Mulgrew. Plus he isn't the team captain.

Not brilliant team spirit I see. Where Dacknaldo gone recently. Maybe he's already in London in his mind.

I never bought the " team spirit " story. Team spirit reveals itself out on the pitch when you're busting a gut for each other not when you're pissing it up on holiday. Anybody can do that.

I'm not comparing him with Kean I am just saying that we saw no matter how many times you tinker with the backroom staff if the manager isn't up to the job then it won't make any difference. If you want a fresh face and new ideas then get a new manager.

No place for sentiment, Mowbray not ruthless enough.

Too nice a guy in a cuthroat  industry.

His loyalty to the players will be his undoing.

Wasted 2 transfer windows, next one, if he's still here, will require 5 or 6 quality signings.

Spot on. I played with players I wouldn't piss on if they were on fire off the pitch,  on it though you were all in the trenches together.

I'm presuming the thing last week with him. What's hilarious about that interview is that he's making it sound like the defensive problems are a new thing. He's full of shit.

Ah, got you.

What does Elliott Bennett need to do to get dropped? Mowbray's constant selecting of him is baffling he's bang average on a good day.

Say's it all that we still haven't won a game when conceding the first goal. For me the team spirit is a myth peddled by Mowbray to use as an excuse for staying loyal to last seasons players rather than strengthening.

It's like working away in a team. You wouldn't socialise much back home but when you're away from home it's one for all and all for one. You go more than the extra mile for each other. All this high fives last season when we were dicking average to poor teams doesn't mean a thing.  It's the players that grab the ball out of the back of the nets and runs to restart the game when you've just conceded a bad goal  and then says " Come on we can beat this lot " or " Right , this is the last time we kick off in this game " or words to that effect. Our lot just stand there looking at each other.

I said in the last match that I found Mulgrew's sad sack reaction to our goals conceded pretty pathetic from a supposed captain. No leaders in our team at all.

In fairness he may learn that from the manager, often you see him on the sideline with his head in his hands

It would be a start if we had a goalkeeping coach who'd been a goalkeeper at any level! I'm pretty sure he's never played the game at any decent level never mind kept goal.
