Tony Mowbray Discussion

Not relevant as we don’t play with wingbacks, maybe he’d do a better job as one, who knows. The only evidence we have is that he’s a poor full back.

It’s funny because much of that thread is exactly the same argument - he obviously shows something to the managers who’ve picked him in the wider defensive positions.

He played a dozen games on loan for Bristol City 5 years ago, some of those very few matches as a wing back.

What on earth has that got to do with him playing badly at full back for us in 2019?

I just think if you’re going to make the assertion a players no experience in a role, it’s probably better to use facts as opposed to opinion.

I don’t think it’s as clear cut as Nyambe over Bennett personally either.

You've said this before yet admit that Bennett switches off too - your main criticism of Nayambe. Given positionally Bennett is ropey too and Nayambe has better pace I'm struggling to see what Bennett brings to the role. Even if he is better going forward - and as a midfielder he should be - he's not that great in attack (few assists and goals even at right mid) and what we need our full backs to first and foremost defend. Add in that Nayambe is young and likely to improve and it seems obvious to me.

Additionally if Bennett is better (and limited which I'm sure most would agree with) then it's another poor recruitment decision by TM not to get a specialist RB in and have to rely on a midfielder.

That isn’t true - my main area of gripe with Nyambe is technique, crossing and passing. That’s not to say Benno is a regular MGP with his right peg.

One thing I do agree with though is the age suggests one can learn, but also he played Centreback for his country and a few times for us - maybe that’s where he sees himself?

Facts are this is his first stint as a full back, as I said.

Rev - do you honestly think that this is a top six squad?  I'll be honest I think we are mid-table.  Is that good enough to keep the manager in a job - only the owners know the answer to that.

No it isn't.

Whose fault is that? The manager's. He's had 3 windows to start upgrading the team and make us competitive at the top end but has shamefully neglected to do it, because for some reason he is obsessed with looking after the players who were here when he got here and any new players coming in only tend to come in round the periphery or are younger players who can be tucked away under the heading of "one's for the future."

I'm done. He's finished as Rovers manager.

We have consistently conceded goals under him and now we aren't even getting any shots on target.

Add in his transfer failings and it's now surely just a matter of time before we are at the mercy of our useless owners to try and appoint a decent manager (spoiler, they won't)

2 things Venkys never invest in. Defenders and managers.

Let's hope Johnnos up to it.

Get this clown out. I said he should of gone last season and he has somehow made things worse.

from Celtic, boro, Coventry And now us the exact same problems and mistakes being made always ending in the club going backwards and tony getting fired. If you can’t learn in 20 years then giving him ten games changes nothing . Thanks for getting us back up, thanks for forfeiting  our chance at a league one title to the pie eaters now take your lemon drizzle and tell stories in a retirement home.

im bored of watching the same disappointing unexciting dull crap.

GO !!!!

Wonder what we actually do in training? 20 mins run about, have a kick about then home? Wouldn’t surprise me based on the pre match kick abouts we see.

We’ve looked short of ideas going forward and we’re very disjointed as a defensive unit. Not sure what the plan is in the slightest.

Forget the recruitment I think we’re tactically miles behind many teams in this league. Everybody from the sexy football sides like Leeds & the we’ll turn up and do a job on you sides like Charlton.

Even if we end up winning tonight, I simply can't get my head around the starting lineup. Walton needs game time, not being rested for Leutwiler. I'm fine with bringing one of the younger lads into defence, but two of them? Appreciate we're low on CB cover but that is 100% Mowbray's fault. Evans/Smallwood, just fuck off. Why the hell is Buckley out wide? Why is Graham starting? Put Brereton up top and Chapman on the wing for goodness sake.

Feels like Mowbray has totally lost the plot now.
