Tony Mowbray Discussion

Is it possible to have a poll to sack him?

Yes but...

1) It’s too soon after a game

2) The same thing always happens: everyone lumps on for him to go and then over the course of a week gradually people change their votes as we scab a win

3) He’s going nowhere

4) The fact that he’s going nowhere makes it all too depressing

Then a few new posters join and we go through this whole charade all over again.

The related articles at the bottom sum up Tony's reign.

I’ve always said our digital team have the easiest jobs in the world. Just copy and paste every week.

Questioning players characters - let’s not forget he’s brought the vast majority of them through the door himself.

It's 'individual mistakes' this week. He's hung a 'striker' out to dry for not marking Sarr. Possibly true but weasel words none the less.

What has happened to Darragh Lenihan. In our relegation season he was one of the few bright spots and putting him at centre back was one of Coyle's few success stories. Lenihan has not improved in the last 4 years if anything he has gone back because now he is being expected to lead the defence and he isn't up to it as he is still rash and hasn't matured.

You'd have though that as a very solid centre back himself Mowbray would have really improved Lenihan as a player. But just looking through all the defenders we have had since Mowbray became manager the only one who has improved is Nyambe. Ayala for years when fit has been one of the best centre halves at this level but bar one half at Brentford he has been shocking for us, Douglas came with a good reputation but is as bad as Bell (another who he hasn't improved) he obviously hasn't always been that bad and I've watched Fulham a few times this season and Tosin has looked a far better defender for them in the Premiership than he did here in the Championship.

I don't know what he says or does with the defenders but he just doesn't seem to improve them and in some cases he regresses them. You won't get promoted unless you have a solid backline and he is just not capable of making one.

He says it will be different when travis is back? The kid he tried punting on loan 12 months ago 🤦🏼‍♂️.

Im pretty sure he said the same for the likes of Dack etc

Now is the time to make a change allowing the in-coming manager the opportunity to shore up the defence (as Mowbray has proved utterly incapable in that respect for more than 2 years) and to look at reshaping the squad for next season. If he's a miracle worker the play-offs are still just about in reach-but now I'm just being silly.

Huge fan of Tony, but I think he's taken us as far as he can go and should leave now. He's done some sterling work and would leave a new manager with a very decent squad. We are just clearly going nowhere now and he won't get us promoted. Occasional good streaky runs and optimism which takes us to the brink of the playoffs followed by a predictable nosedive when expectation rises. This has happened too many times to suggest that things will change now. Too many false dawns. The style of play is easier on eye and was exciting for a while early in the season, but its really ineffective now teams have figured us out and theres no plan B. The most annoying aspect of all though is the soft underbelly that he mentioned today. It has to be his responsibility and it has been as issue throughout his tenure. The challenge is to find a replacement who can instill this ruthlessness that we need to take us forward and keep the good players who clearly respect Tony.

Yep. First we were missing ‘Dacky’s individuality’, now it’s ‘Trav’s character’. Once he realises he still can’t turn things around, it’ll be ‘Wharton’s steadiness’ at the back or similar.
