"Meanwhile, Blackburn are ready to appoint ex-Leeds winger Bruno Ribeiro as their European scout."

Hmmmm?

Don't think this is correct. Ribeiro only returned from Angola in the last days of December to take over a club in the Portuguese Fourth Division. Pretty sure that the guy is Bruno Reis who has been at the Rovers for about three years as scout of the opposition teams.

How was the kitty dry when we were making bids for players Manning, Curtis, etc?.

I rather discuss potential signings or player links then go over the signing of Brereton or Gallagher time after time week after week. Or the appointment of head of European scouting and where we could target.

Harass? Another lie Roversfan99. I just ask questions of certain journalists just like alot of Football fans. It beaten another discussion about Signing Gallagher again.

We were linked with these players, we dont know for sure, indeed all indications based on Mowbrays quotes where that our bids were absolutely miles away from signing anyone.

If there is any truth in us bidding for Manning on deadline day then youd have to again question why the bloody hell we didnt bother on the 30 days prior!

well we don't know if Manning only came available in the last week of the window or Manning has rejected a new contract so QPR made available in the last few days of the window. Or is agent has contact Rovers saying his player could be available due to only 6 months left on contract. We simply don't know.

Yet again we don't know what were offered. or what we were close too. Maybe a couple of loans close.

One thing we do know and the one thing that really matters and that is that we signed sod all in January. Unlike every other club in the division.

The fact we've advertised our interest in the lad from Liverpool for next season instead of just keeping schtumm about it and getting the deal done when the time comes should ensure that it comes to nothing.

I really do despair as to what is going on or rather isn't going on with our so called recruitment department.

Agree with the comments above on Mowbray as well. How can any manager be shocked by or unaware of the amounts players earn or expect?

Well we haven't advertised our interested in Jones tho. Press has leaked it..

What you expecting from our recruitment department? What your view on our new head of European scouting?

No,he didn't. He said we sign players for competition and to help the current squad out. Meaning they won't automatically take someone's place, but that they have a chance of doing so if things go well.

I think that is fair enough.

I think we need to be bringing in players better than those we have.

But we need a manager prepared to do that instead of getting players worse than we have a challenging them to overtake his favourites.

Trouble is when they do, Mowbray himself will stand in their way and defend his loyal charges. The danger with bringing in inferior players is that this becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy and we end up not improving anything, as forced-fringe players come and go.

We need to constantly be upgrading. £15m should have allowed that.

That is the crux of the matter. Regardless of reasons, excuses, circumstances, whatever. What we do know and can judge is that despite needing reinforcements, and despite Mowbray signing time and time again that he wanted reinforcements, we didnt bring anyone in.

We'll have to wait and see. We have been talking about extending into Europe ever since we got promoted from League 1 so the fact something is only just happening now isn't the best sign but we'll have to see if things improve in that respect.

Those who want Mowbray fired might care to reflect that this might well mean Ribeiro would be in pole position to replace him. Think on.

So we keep Mowbray forever irrespective of performance because they might promote a scout to be manager?

Even by Venky standards that's pushing it.

I thought they'd learned painful/expensive lessons and were no longer being badly advised?
