Leaning more towards a Mercer like prediction on this one. Imo one of the weaker teams in the division, we have a fully fit squad - should have more than enough to beat Reading. When I last saw them they really didn't look that special so am fairly optimistic.

That said Rovers specialise in making things harder than they are, and whilst I feel we are the better team, I feel this leads to a close result. That said I feel the close result will be in our favour, so 2-1 Rovers.

Well the central midfielders should realise they are playing for their places.

Will be very interesting as ever what Mowbray does.  You would expect Holtby included sooner rather than later but Tony doesn't always pick the players you would expect

——Tosin Lenihan Williams—

Bennett————Cunningham

Think Rothwell needs an extended run in the team, it’s going to click soon for him and he needs to be consistent. Has the quality.

First time I’ve had Bennett in my side, cause he was decent last weekend. Do want to see Nyambe and JRC get a shot there. Could also put Travis at RWB and have Holtby and Johnson as the two CMs.

I'm just not really convinced by 343, I think Dack and Rothwell won't really know what they are doing. The width is being supplied by Bennett and Cunningham so they won't want to go wide, but if they play narrow they will get in each others way.

However I'm willing to be converted if it works out. One positive is that it let's one of the back three pass or push out from the back kind of like England at the last world cup.

Hopefully no Armstrong on top today, he is not suited to be playing alone up front and his form is not good either.

Yeap. With Tony's comments recently about Rothwell I can see him starting ahead of AA today. Surely he has to? Arma deserves to be on the bench.

Crikey if we get something out of this afternoon, the club will feel it has turned a corner. From the BBC:

  • Reading have won three of their last four league matches against Blackburn (W3 D1) having won just two of their first 16 against them between 1979 and 2016 (W2 D8 L6).
  • Blackburn have lost their last three league visits to Reading, last winning there in February 2014.
  • Reading's John Swift has created 27 chances in the Championship this season - six more than any other player.
  • Blackburn midfielder Bradley Dack has scored in each of his last two league matches - he has never scored in three consecutive league appearances.
  • Reading have lost their last two league matches without scoring - they last lost three in a row without finding the net back in April 2015.
  • Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray is yet to register a league victory over Reading as a manager in seven attempts (D2 L5).

Just seen holtby walk in with the players! Must be in the squad. Hopefully we can get some minutes in him.

He has travelled. Doesn’t necessarily mean he’s in the squad, a la Cunningham. Would be a revelatory moment if his name is anywhere on the team sheet, though ?

Reckon he’ll start his playing time at home against Luton. But you’d love to see an early start if he’s fit, which he supposedly is, moreso than most of our players....???

Good news: Reading boss is unsure of Rovers' system.

1-1.

I must admit I have no idea who’s going to play in what formation these days. It’s a bit like throwing a jigsaw in the air and hoping the pieces click together.

Bennett and 10 others is the only certainty.
