Yes, the first half was dull and predictable as usual.

if Gallagher is best without the ball why does Tony play him in a position where he has it to feet?  Is the manager wrong?

Another thing: we really need new supporter ‘anthems’. Are there really no creative minds left any more? As soon as we scored we had the ridiculous Burnley songs, straight out of the BBE mouths.

Rothwell is the difference and always has been. Holtby of course is another man who is the difference. These two HAVE to be starting for us.

I love all this let's take the positives, good performance etc etc. It's great to see how we all deal with failure. We 'play' well and don't win, we'll be OK yada yada. If you play well and canno

A game we should have won especially second half talking to forest fans last night before the game they've been getting results without playing well..

When Holtby and Rothwell came on we started to look dangerous these two need to start..

Armstrong had a decent game tbf

What Gallagher actually brings to the table I'm struggling to see he really has lost his way since he was here previously

Graham and Dack were poor

Up to the substitutions and a bit of trickery from Armstrong we really were toothless again up top

we don't have an identity? really? we are playing much more of passing game which the stats backed this view up compare to last season. We are playing less long balls now which I believe is right.

Dack had 3 chances to shoot and he miss the target every time. He should have done better with the volley from the right hand side of the box.

Armstrong gave their right back a torrid time.

1st half was horrible to watch? really? must have watched a very different game to me

running with the ball isn't his game but he prefer to run onto the ball from a through ball. Armstrong tried a through ball to him but it was just a yard or 2 ahead of him

Our Passing accuracy was 84% last night overall with a passing accuracy of 71% in the Opponent half. I posted these stats last night

These stats are misleading in my view. How many of these accurate passes were behind or ahead of players or just not the right weight? I remember one pass from Bennett to Armstrong in the first half when he drilled it at him about chest high. It bounced off Armstrong's chest and an opportunity to spring forward was lost. It would be considered accurate because it got to its target but it lost us any chance of an initiative.

I think managers hide behind stats and use them as excuses to mask inadequacies.

Our style of play is pretty stodgy and insipid as well which doesn't exactly lend itself to scoring goals. It's not often you see Rovers score more than two, especially in this division.

We have only scored more than 2 goals in a game at this level 4 times under Mowbray in 71 league games.

Hit plenty of 3's and a couple of 4's in league one though.

I know many will disagree, but I’ve been really impressed with our performances over the past few games. We’ve dominated the ball, won the ball back quickly and aggressively (Travis - what a player!), and have generally controlled the games. Plus, we’ve seen some real quality players in there that will surely mean we’ll win a lot of games this season - Holtby, Dack, Downing, Rothwell and Armstrong have looked good in patches.

Sometimes it’s not all about results at this stage of the season, you get a feel for how we may do based on performances too. I remember our first season we came down and our early season results were very good but performances were woeful - we ended up nearly getting relegated. Results have been ok this season and performances have been good imo.

The big problem, as many have said, is that our 12m worth of strikers don’t look like they’ve got a goal between them. I have more hope in Brereton longer term than I do Gallagher, but feel like we need someone else shorter term. Sheff W are desperate to get Rhodes out of the door in Jan...just a thought.

We are having the ball more but to absolutely no effect whatsoever. We continiously create minimal amounts of clear cut chances, so I dont understand how people can be excited and impressed. The football is boring, slow, monotonous, rarely getting people off their seats.

Mowbray is still miles away from stumbling across his best team, and any sort of consistency

Football is about results at any time of the season. Winning breeds confidence.

That's our only hope imo, that Mowbray stumbles on the winning formula and sticks with it.

Well we seen the impact he had last time. Did you seen that season?

Gallagher wants the ball to feet and run on to.

When he wons the flicks ons no one is close to him.

As a team he had about 4 proper chances this season.

Playing long balls to him isnt his game

He is 6 ft 4. It should be at least part of his game.

The Gallagher wide right experiment is a total failure.

If he starts him there again against QPR, he has no clue what he is doing.

If he starts him at all, in fact. He has been awful for two games in a row.

You can say whatever you want about those stats but they are the stats of the game.

I think our passing is goodish but could be better

Football is a squad game now. Very rarely do you see the same 11 on the pitch for vaired like form, tactical reasons, injuries and suspension. Most managers made 1 or 2 changes each game

I know that you cant name the exact same team 46 times but you should know your best team. We are totally lacking in consistency and our season seems likely to descend into mediocrity unless we can get it.

Rich Sharpe correctly mentioned the back end of last season and the success of the front 4 of Graham, Dack, Rothwell left, Armstrong right. Times its been used this  season? Never. Baffling.

You keep mentioning our style of play and its effectiveness but we have scored barely any goals. We create very few clear cut chances, we very rarely make the goalkeeper do any serious work, and we dont score enough goals so how on earth can it be considered effective?

Hes maybe flirting with the idea of playing more attacking football but he then leaves Holtby and Rothwell on the bench and has Gallagher plodding away down the wing. Senseless.

But Mowbray seems to have a very odd way of picking his team.

Players nailed on to start every game:

Bennett, Cunningham, Armstrong, Lenihan, Dack

Players who will start games except in extreme circumstances:

Downing, Williams, Gallagher

Expendable regular starters: *this is usually where the tombola approach starts

Travis, Johnson, Graham

Players who might get minutes when the fan base demands it:

Rothwell, Chapman, Adarabioyo, Brereton

Players who will get minutes when there is little other option:

Nyambe, Smallwood, Bell

Players who will get a bit of game time fairly inexplicably and at random times seemingly out of nowhere because Mowbray rates them, even if nobody else does:

Evans, Samuel

Mowbray seems to work his way down this list, shoehorning people in to fit his favoured formation.

My ideal front 4 would definitely not include Arma, can't have 1 good game and suddenly be top dog.

I'd go for:

Holtby.          Dack.         Rothwell

                      Gallagher

Makes no sense to drop him though when he does have that good game. Especially when Gallagher is in your team despite repeated insipid performances including again last night.

He's playing Gallagher out of position ffs! Of course he's going to look bad!!!

If I moved you from a specialist job in law to accounting you'd have no idea and look shit in your job! Exact same situation here.

Well we will have to agree to disagree. Yes Ive seen Rich Sharpe tweet today and he makes a fair point, But the form of Downing has push Rothwell out. Johnson was good with Travis early season also.

Yes I have mention our style and its effectiveness(as well a few other who you don't quote) cos I think its better suited to our players and make used of our best players better. Teams this season has man marked Dack more this season ;like Luton, Cardiff have. I've seen progress with the style and whilst its not the finished product. It is work in progress. It hasn't peak yet. Judge it over a season. If you look at yesterday game around 60 mins in we kept the ball in possession under pressure from Forest and passing it well to until the final cross when no-one was there. Last season we would have played it in behind. Look at our goal yesterday where we pass it through the defence and we get our goal. Yes abit of luck in then but we deserve it.

Not sure Holtby can play in deeper role next to Travis. Thought Holtby look good in the 10 role but that's where Dack plays. We have different options now which we didn't last season and deeper squad depth

Gallagher has played numerous times up front including at the weekend v Luton and looked exactly the same. Not up to standard.

Your logic of dropping Armstrong following a good game makes absolutely no sense either. Also, he would argue that he prefers to play up front but thats a seperate argument.

And @chaddyrovers until we start actually creating good chances, something we have failed to consistently this season, and scoring more goals then ultimately it is impossible to suggest that our current tactic is working as it should attacking.

I know it’s only yet another opinion  but Ian Dowie on Sky was telling us what an exciting game it was in the first half and that in the second half Rovers took over the game.

So I’m a bit confused reading all the posts. Sometimes being a committed and passionate onlooker at a game affects what you see.

Maybe Josh King vs Stoke in the Cup before that? Rhodes got a hat-trick vs Peterborough but that was some time ago

And the reason we scored that goal is because Rothwell's introduction meant they had to worry about another attacking threat and this , in turn, gave Dack more space. Will Mowbray pair the two of them again? He should but he won't.
