I'd love someone like Souness to be in charge of Bell. He'd get him in order through a good old dose of fear.

Even my wife (who knows little about football) said yesterday, "Why is that one with the gloves not even trying to stop him cross?"

Does anyone think we criticise keepers too much? It seems there are loads of dodgy ones.

Yesterday there were more question marks over top Premier League keepers like De Gea and even England's number one is still a bit suspect (certainly chocolate handed City's opener).

I agree with that. You see goals like their first one every week. Everybody misses the ball and it ends up in the back of the net. Pedersen v The Red Rats. Bell was a spectator instead of busting a gut to get nearer to his opponent. The penalty was poor decision making. In the old days the goalkeeper got the benefit of the doubt in those instances, not any more. You go to ground anywhere near an opponent in the penalty area and you're asking for big trouble. The third  goal, he was caught in " no mans land ".

Yes - he was clearly at fault for the penalty but all goalkeepers concede a goal like the first one; they can't move until very late for the cross/shot in case the forward is able to head it. For the third goal it was too easy for the forward to get the header in ; Walton was entitled to be in a position where he could save a header to the near post.

We’ve just been spoiled. Flowers, Given, Friedel, Robinson, Bunn.

But we’ve paid for it since mind. Brown, Kean, Eastwood, Steele, Leutwiler, Walton.

Raya isn’t really in either list but with the right coach and number two, could have been in the first list.

I think Bunn has done well to make that first list!
