Amazing how much folk just lap up Sky hyperbole.

50,000 Newcastle fans from a big city and a region with very few league clubs in it are loyal.

The 12,000 or so Rovers fans that have stuck by the club this past decade are loyal (small town, surrounded by professional football clubs).

The lower league fans that stick by their club instead of supporting glory clubs are loyal.

No individual club or fan deserves anything.

Rovers fans had a title win in 1995 and league cup in 2001. Newcastle fans have had nothing but are still there.

I've had a quick look at past attendances at Ewood Park. Opening home game in 1984-85 v Carlisle had an attendance of 5,121. The 12,000 were nowhere to be seen.

They are loyal, mate.

John Smith the Darlington season ticket holder hasn't missed a match in 30 years. John Smith the Newcastle fan is the same. Why does the latter deserve more for his efforts than the former?

Success is relative. I think Darlington fans do deserve some success - but they are not going to win the FA Cup.

Their gates had dropped 10,000 this season until they gave away free half STs.

How spoilt, take away their Deserve Trophy.

Quite a few of the 12,000 weren’t born then

Some folk really seem to want to belittle our great club. I guess it is supposed to make us grateful that such an esteemed bloke as Mowbray stoops to be our manager.

It’s back to front!

Well this is a stroll for a pretty disinterested looking Man U half reserves team.

Hopefully Tom Lawrence's injury keeps him out of Sunday and Rooney doubles up on his yellow second half.

Rooney is different class from his fellow Rams but has lost most of the short distance pace he used to have and struggles to get around the park generally.

They were struggling to hit 20,000 in the early 90s, then Keegan came, bit of momentum, promotion and exciting PL seasons and their crowds more than doubled in about 2/3years. So loyal, ay!

So just like any other club then, success brings crowds in and as they are lucky enough to be sitting in a region with a vast catchment and little in the way of competition they can attract numbers.

Also, it’s a myth that their fans have watched shit for decades. From Keegan to Super Mac. Then a great decade in the 90s and numerous Champions League campaigns under Bobby Robson in the 2000s.

Woe is them, just give them the cup!

Derby did look very poor. Lots of misplaced passes and bad touches. Not that it will have any bearing on Sunday's game as they've apparently only lost 2 league games at home this season.

You are right about Rooney. There was one instance in the first half where he pinged a 60 yard cross field free kick straight to the Derby winger, who promptly miscontrolled it and the ball went out for a goal kick.

If potato head is actually a real Rovers fan I'm king Canute.

What a crank case just here to get up everyone's hooters.

Doesn't even know Rovers crowd history and now slagging off the 80s hardcore.

That was a stroll in Pride Park for the Mancs.

Rooney petulantly fouled in the first minute of the second half but thereafter only got close to the ball to take set pieces. The nearest thing to a red card was a long running scrap between Sibley and McTominay.

If Derby's crossing is as wayward on Sunday, the only skill Lenihan's stand in will need is short wave radio to warn Air Traffic Control.

I had something in mind from being a kid that they  only brought a handful here the game I saw pre Keegan. Season after when he turned about 6k came down for a night game  Not sure if I'd dreamt it.

Then recently some of the games popped up on YouTube and sure enough there was barely 500 of them on the old DE for not one but two games pre Keegan.

Like Leeds they are no different to any other fanbase they are just from a huge area and there's more of them.

It's great when you've got about 500 thousand people to draw from

And the rest, their support stretches from the Scottish Borders across to Cumbria and down as far as County Durham which then becomes more Sunderland territory, but even there there’s plenty of Newcastle fans.

Old Lancashire with its 15 league clubs, it ain’t.

Bizarre logic that anyone deserves success because they belong to a large group of like-minded people.

By that rationale (which is a generous word to use for it) Manure deserve to win the league every season and we didn't deserve a damned thing in 95 or 2002. Hell let's just have an attendance-off each year and forego the actual football matches.

Absolute bollocks. You only deserve one thing - whatever you earn on that pitch.

Newcastle fans have actually shafted the club on a few occasions by having zero patience and hounding managers out. There was a lengthy period where they simply couldn't get any stability because managers changed too often due to fan pressure. Too greedy for immediate success. They seem to have a better understanding of their place these days.

Exactly, play the toon way - whatever that was - or clear off no matter who you are. Similar to Spurs of years ago.

Bobby Robson didn't always have it easy up there either and they'd no patience with Dalglish. The man who'd won the league numerous times and won the Prem a few years previous.

If ever there was an entitled bunch it's them not 12k Rovers fans !
