Your best ever UK and Ireland Blackburn 11!

So this is the best ever Rovers XI without Tugay is it?  Shocked that anyone would have Tosin 8n it, a liane who has played a few games in the 2nd division for us.  For the record my team would be:

Flowers

Price

le Saux

Moran

Hendry

Ripley

Sherwood

Kendall

Duff

Shearer

Garner

Only including players I’ve watched since 1979.

U.K. and Ireland- so you’ll be needing a new GK

I would definitely have Mike England in the team and also Keith Newton was a better full back than any that have been mentioned

Better than Berg and LeSaux. He could attack and he could defend. I remember watching him as a young player and he was marking Cliff Jones, the Gareth Bale of his day.  Jones never got a kick. I thought then this lad could go far, he's got all the assets to be a top class full back.

Alan Hunter was good for us and brilliant at Ipswich under Bobby Robson.

My best 11 since 1961.

Freidel

Newton England Samba Le Saux

M Ferguson Clayton Douglas Duff

Shearer Bellamy.

Can’t have Freidal or Samba

One I forgot who is surly better than tosin and imo kenna, Stephen Warnock. Nobody fancy him in the 11

Warnock was a left back though, and will always be behind Le Saux in best 11's.

He's the best left back we have had in the past 20 years though.

Fair point. I just thought some of the younger lads might have had him in

I love that Bellamy is in there despite only playing one season here. Shows just how good he was. His performances in the second half of that season, once he'd got over some injuries he had in the first half, were absolutely outstanding at times.

My first game was in '88

                Flowers

Kenna Moran Hendry LeSaux

     Dunn Batty Sellers

Bellamy Shearer Garner

Scott Sellers was my first fav player so hes in over Duff, that forward line should trouble a few defences.

How close is Tugay to that 11 Tyrone?

Agree that's high praise for Bellamy indeed considering he only played 32 games for us, but what a player. Had you out of your seat everytime he got the ball.

This is soo difficult when you consider the players from the UK and Ireland who have played for the club. We were truly blessed with a very high standard over the years. I can’t argue with Shearer or Bellamy in the line up but I’ve always had a soft spot for David Speedie because of how he got us through to the play offs and how he got us that penalty. Also as far as strikers go, even Tyrone hasn’t mentioned Andy McEvoy.

Funny how we’ve been stronger at left back than right back.  I would have a Rathbone, Wright, Warnock as solid back up for Le Saux but struggled to pick a right back.  I’ve probably forgotten a few though to be fair.

John Bailey, another left back.

Which is why I went for 3 at the back so I didnt need one ?
