Rovers Twitter Legends

Has anyone else been following the voting tournament thing on Rovers' twitter? Parkes v Shearer as our final 2.

If you were to ask me, I'd have gone for Tugay every time and the only discussion would be if Dunn or Parkes lost to him in the final! I suppose it depends on the weighting you put on actual effect of quality compared to fan favourite status, down-to-earth decency or Burnley annoying ability. How about you all?

I saw Tugay vs Shearer the other day.

Did surprise me when a few folk picked Tugay, largely down to ‘loyalty’.

Fair enough, but for me Shearer has to be number 1. The bloke was the best striker in the world (or one of) In the mid 90s - and he played for us.

Can I urge you to listen to this as there's a whole round on this very topic...!?     @Mattyblue @Riverside under the drip

The correct answer is Bob Crompton BTW...the man played for us, captained us, won the league twice, managed us & died whilst watching us play Burnley. THAT my friends is a legend. ?

One thing often overlooked about 'The greatest Rover of them all' is that number of England caps - 41. In his time England didn't play in World Cups and there were no Euros (or qualifiers. England only played the Home Nations and a few friendlles. I reckon if he had his career in modern times that total would have been between 100 and 150.

Truly the best ever.
