Summer Transfer Window

11 championship teams have yet to make any signings this window. So where is this evidence then? cos we haven't sign any one. They has only been 27 signings so far, most of them wouldn't be improvement on the current team?

You say this after every season. !! championship teams may well have not signed anyone but I know for sure we'll always be one of them.

When did we last have a clear list of targets that we went for early with genuine and realistic offers?

Irrespective of what other teams are doing, we have no 1st team keeper, we have 1 CB, we don't have a LB who is worth a toss so I would say we are pretty desperate to get some bodies in to fill these gaping holes in the first team.

I am fully aware of what players we need in.

we have 3 centre back at the club with over 50 first team career games under their belt. Lenihan, Williams and Wharton. Even tho I would like to see Williams leave

Regarding transfers elsewhere, Stoke signed left back Morgan Fox on a free, Sheffield Wednesday signed Chey Dunkley on the cheap, Neil Warnock signed Grant Hall at CB for free at Boro, Stoke also signed James Chester for free and Derby signed Groningens captain on a free. Ryan Woods also went to Millwall and Jack Colback has joined Forest.

I think there are a few names there that seem fairly sensible transfers considering the current economic climate. The challenge is on Mowbray getting better than players like Fox, Chester and Dunkley on whatever budget he has. None are groundbreaking signings, lets see what he can do.

Is that really OK? Only one of those is definitely good enough for the Championship. Wharton we don't know, Williams we do.

I am suggesting players who I THINK we should get, and the way I THINK we should play, not players who I think Mowbray will get, or who I think suit what I think Mowbrays planned tactics are. Otherwise I would be also suggesting "wide forwards" and "false 9s" who again I wouldnt play personally. It isnt pointless just because my opinion doesnt perfectly marry with what I think Mowbrays opinion is.

Clarke is a fair shout, seemed decent when I saw him last season but then again, Derby conceded a goal more than us.

He is hardly of the Adarabioyo mould of bringing it out from the back, I dont think a player of similar ability in that regard who also can help us keep more clean sheets is realistic if I am honest.

If we can get a defender who (with the help of a goalkeeper and left back) helps us gets that goals conceded column down massively, that will do me just perfectly. Ideally with some recovery pace to allow us the option to push out a bit. If he is considered a "ball playing centre back" then thats a bonus.

The 2 arent mutually exclusive (or mutant exclusive which sounds scary) but very difficult to get both so you have to prioritise.

I never said said wide forwards work did I? Do you actually read what I write or just read what you want to read and make up false claims day after day roversfan99? any response?

I can suggested hundreds of players who I think we should get but whats the point when they wouldn't fit into Mowbray's style of play/tactics and formation?

All because Derby conceded 1 more goal than means that Clarke wouldn't be good signing or it is his fault.

If you look at goal conceded before the lockdown came we were on course to improve the season from the season. Lockdown came and Walton just got worst game by game. If we hqad got a better keeper and had Cunningham for a full season fit then we would have improved that record.

Style this, style that, what a load of horse shit. We are desperate for a GK, CB and LB irrespective of any other criteria, failure to address this is criminal. All this procrastinating by Mowbray and the loons in Pune will result in decent targets being no longer available. It's time to piss or get off the pot.

Cloughie on his defenders, according to Larry Lloyd:

Our job was to get the ball off the other lot, then give it to someone who can play. And that's what we did.

If you are fully aware of what players are needed, bearing in my mind these aren't luxury wants, but desperately needed, why are you content with this very laissez faire approach. It has happened repeatedly that we have made signings lastminute.com signings, which has led to no stability and an annual rinse and repeat of the shit show that is our transfer dealings.

How much of Morgan Fox have you seen? cos in the 2 games he played against us his team conceded 7 goals.

Grant Hall who was playing for a team with the 3rd worst defensive record in the league last season. what has he done that impress you so much?

Ryan Woods cracking player and someone I wish we had here.

I don't think that side is relegation material at all. In fact, the bulk of that side played this season and we came 11th. What changes next year? ?

We've got a goalkeeper who's never played a league game for us and is 5ft 10", a left-back and a centre-back that are League One standard. We'd concede 80 goals next year with that back five.

11 clubs at Championship havent made any signings and clubs seems to chasing the same player from the media articles we all read linked 3 or 4 clubs to one player,.

Plus the transfer window is open till the 16th October and I am very relaxed person

It's Tony Mowbray you are talking about not Rinus Michels or Pep Guardiola. I'm sure any decent Championship defender could quite easily fit into Mowbray's mythical style quite comfortably.

Nice round up Joe. Not particularly bothered about 'missing out' on the players mentioned. Think we'd be missing a trick not going in for Phillips though given our goalkeeping situation and his situation at Charlton. Should be an affordable solution to our main issue.

All I need to know about him is that Neil Warnock made him his first signing this summer. That tells me he is either decent or a decent manager can rely on him.

Warnock is a far superior manager to Mowbray and I fully expect Hall to be a regular in a team pushing for the top 6.

Hall was just an example of a Championship defender, probably not as appealing as Dunkley, Fox and Chester albeit none are necessarily stand out. Hall was QPRs best CB but had injury problems.

Ultimately they are all just standard Championship defenders that seemingly based on their new clubs were very obtainable. There is undoubtedly better out there but I am unconvinced that Mowbray will either find better or indeed we will be in a financial market to sign better considering that we have other urgent priorities too.

It's the beverage. it makes @chaddyrovers hyperactive.

He must be, for he tells us he isn't a scout in capitals in one post, only then in the next one tell us he's suggested hundreds of players. That's a lot of work to qualify them all. In fact, I think that's what the club does. Instead of setting out criteria must be a ball playing cb,left footed who wins his aerial duels and is a fine defender, we get any CB who is available. Yeah, we've a head scout like we have a director of communications.

@phili tells us Venkys won't put any money in for two weeks. That just means we'll lose targets we could have had in here.It also means that people who are owed money have two weeks to sue the Club for payments and push us into administration. We all know Mowbray is stubborn. Trying to switch to his preferred style despite not having the players to play it or persisting in playing Gallagher wide right for no return. If I signed a forward for £5m, I'd be looking for goals, not work rate in return. If Venkys don't put enough money in to force Mowbray to sell players, it is not going to work.He won't sell and Venkys don't have the cash to pay him the balance of his contract.

In terms of 'that team' I'd go with Lewis Thompson at LB and JRC in place of Rothwell.

Thanks for sharing this info.

Both local reporters have said Mowbray was back this week. Maybe they both wrong. Maybe he been working from his place down here or in North East. So your info would be correct.

Any names?
