This story undermines the situation at the club as we need to bring in players who won’t have the benefit of a full pre-season.

Watch out for ‘hit the ground running’ stories!

The Holtby story is one such.

From the time  a GK, LB and CB were signed on loan, Mowbray's known we needed permanents signings and it reflects badly on him and the club's chances going forward that no action has yet been taken. Of course, we'd all like the players who step up to be more than capable, but there's no guarantee they will be.

So if Downing does sign, he will be already at a disadvantage fitness wise. Not ideal for a 36 year old.

he ain't coming back here.

What's the latest news on the Keeper Phillips?

still at Charlton. Bowyer and Gallen don't want to sell him even tho he won't sign a new contract?

Time to withdraw the offer for Downing. At his age he needs all the pre season that he can get. We let Rodwell take the piss last year over his contract offer let's not repeat the same mistake this year and lets move on to younger hungrier players who want to play for us.

We heard all this about Bauer. Charlton didn't want to sell because they wanted promotion and he was too expensive.

Then he joined Preston on a free transfer.

Have we even made Downing a proper offer?

I'd be surprised.

Mowbray might like to keep him but given the state the club has been in recently I'd be surprised if we had been busy negotiating contracts given we've been incapable of anything else.

well Charlton wanted 2 million pounds for Bauer. Given he played in their promotion season and scored a goal in the final you could say its was worth it.

On Philips, if the fee is less a million pounds then I would be paying it. Unless we want someone better than him

Seems very definitive? Sounds like the offer is very much on the table.

You seem to have now moved from "unsure" to very much of the opinion that you are happy to see him go, now it seems that he might well be off...?

He's not good enough imo anyway.

Not good enough is very harsh. Definitely on a reduced role with a reduced wage if at all but still technically very good. Had a very good season even if he was a little off the pace post lockdown.

I'm struggling to think how.

The problem isn't having Bennett as a back up RB option. It's that Mowbray can't resist playing him there every now and then even when Nyambe is fit. As a back up you'd only expect him to play the odd couple of games to cover for Nyambe's injuries or suspensions. Bennett has shown on occasion that he can fill in reasonably well when it's the odd game, but he should never be considered as a starting option when Nyambe is fit.

On the topic of Rodwell, he played 1 league game all season for Sheff Utd. That has to be that for his career now?

Rich sharpe probably asked by the club to say something to calm the restless down. Be shocked if we aint here by the end of next week waiting for a GK.

I doubt there is that level of propaganda going on between Sharpe and the club. If it was the case, why would he have been so definitive the other day nothing was happening?

People are elevating the level of Sharpes importance way too high.
