Much as I rated Bryan Douglas as a ball player when it comes to running with the ball Damien Duff took some beating. The thing about Dougie was he didn't have to run that fast, he was a magician, he could beat people at walking pace !  As a pal of mine said when he played with Bryan at Great Harwood - " He could beat you stood still Tyrone ".

Scott Sellers was good. Start Ripley, Mike Ferguson, Stuart Metcalfe in his youth, all were great to watch. Mike Harrison wasn't a dribbler but he was a tremendously hard running and direct winger.

no-one mentioning "Waggy"?

- he'd seen better days when Rovers signed him, but still had a magic left peg and a great football brain [ that his body couldn't quite keep up with}.

Waggy was quality, but always seemed to play better at home, Eamon Rogers another talented    footballer but had a few issues.

Jim Smith always said that pound for pound Waggy was his best ever signing.

I saw him playing for City when he was just starting out. He was pretty quick as well as tricky then.

At Rovers he was a classic example of you only needing to get half a stride in front of the full back to get a good cross in. Like Grealish did last night for England's first goal.

World Class!  He was our Claude Makelele.

Radosav Petrovic - Blackburn Rovers v Everton - Premier League

All things taken into account this useless swine was probably the worse midfielder I’ve ever seen wear the shirt and we’ve had some crap.

Big wages, ‘Spurs wanted him’ that lying rat told the papers, and he was useless.

Even king rat had to substitute him at h/t at home to Villa.

I need a lie down.

That cross in the FMC that led to Big Col's winner....

Yep when he got a good one over it usually resulted in a goal.

On the pitch purely to hit the touchline and swing em over every time they gave him the ball. To be fair some of his best crosses whizzed straight over the other side because he was so quick the others didn't keep up.

Completely agree. Never seen someone so far off the pace.

I remember him coming with a reputation of getting into the box and scoring a few. Never seen a centre mid sit so deep. He would occasionally take a pop from about 35 40 yards and it never once came anywhere near the target.

Dross absolute dross

Said it before but he put in one of the worst performances I have ever seen in a Rovers shirt when we lost 7-1 to Arsenal. Pitiful.

I wonder what Vilesinner would have made of Bryan Douglas if Rothwell is World Class running with the ball. I don't think there is a suitable adjective.

Different times. But I have seen plenty of George Best etc. It is far easier to run past people when in wide positions. Rothwell can do it from central midfield. I stand by what I said. Just wish Joe could shoot.

He’s not very good at running past players near the penalty area - runs into traffic as often as not, and the not usually results in a rubbish shot.

Not always.  In central midfield you usually have the space to go both ways. Out on the wing sometimes the touchline isn't your friend.

We do have to remember he's not playing weekly due to being a free agent, so his match fitness is probably awful.

Everyone was saying he would be an upgrade on Bell too right?

No, they didn't. For a man looking for a job he didn't put in a good application, to put it mildly. Stay well clear.
