We're in a position now where we know exactly what league we are going to be in next season... so any worries of "X is an option but not for the PL/CH" can go away.

Karl Darlow seems like a no brainer to start with, also the like of Rudy Gestede, Lyle Taylor etc (players who have already departed clubs) should be ripe for taking. (Or at least reaching out to)

... Of course my first transfer business would be us getting stuffed off Cardiff and Mowbray waving goodbye.

I’m sure we will end up with Cunningham again next season at lb. Other than that, I find it difficult to believe we will spend anymore money - we were up the creek pre covid, now we are certainly without a paddle. Armstrong will also be sold, currently the only non Dack asset worth much to a team above us. Nyambe possibly but clubs won’t pay big for him. Yet.

Assuming something like this:

                               Fisher

 nyambe      New        Lenihan        Cunningham

                         Travis     Evans

          Gallagher        Dack        Holtby/Buckley

                             A.N other

I think Brereton will get loaned out, TM seemed very miffed after his sending off. Davenport is crap. Rankin Costello will fill a squad place with wharton, vale, butterworth.

Going to be fun.....

HMS Gestede sailed a long while ago. Warnock had him weighed up in five minutes.

It will be Armstrong , there was already talk of Newcastle and Crystal Palace (I think) taking an interest pre lockdown , A bid in excess of £10m will have Venkys pushing the sell button

Everybody in football will know that Venkies would take half that fee if push comes to shove.

Davenport definitely is not crap lol. Never been given a chance. Looks miles better than Johnson.

Wonder how much Britt Assombalonga would cost if 'Boro went down... though it seems unless Wigan go on and win at least 3 of their last 5, they will go and whoever of Stoke, Boro, Hull and Huddersfield will survive by default.. which is a shame.

I'd much rather wigan survive (somehow) this year and start next year in the Championship on -12 (god knows we will probably need the advantage!)

Relegation battle it is then.

That's my thought as well. Next season could be a very painful one and if we end up back in the same position as we were under Bowyer in 15/16 before he was sacked then all of Mowbray's work is effectively undone. Worrying times.

The one person i wouldn't sell would be Armstrong but he's likely to interest a few ambitious Championship sides. We don't know what'll happen with Dack but with Graham now almost done for i think Arma with or without Dack in the side might guarantee 10 goals a season.  Lose him and really where are any goals coming from ?

He's a match winnner, game changer type we have no others.

Nobody is on the 'wouldn't sell' list - nobody on our books is that good (and we don't have the clout to stop a transfer). Travis and Nyambe are the two I'd be reluctant to sell.

Armstrong is good, but he's not a world beater - he just looks sensational when compared to Gallagher and Brereton.

Wigan was apparently looking into Muamer Tankovic from hammarby in the Swedish league. We should also be doing that. Been one of the best players in our league the last few years and will most likely leave when his contact expires last of July. Could be a decent option on one of the wings.

Other players whose contracts expire and could be a decent should from the Swedish Allsvenskan:

Isak Pettersson, 22 GK

Adam Andersson, 23 D

Fredrik Ulvestad, 27, CDM,

Filip Dagerstål, 23 D

Absolutely boracic lint and yet an extra months wages handed out to players who don’t play!

It is appalling management.

IMO, Waggott and Mowbray have no defence - absolutely shambolic.

It is going to be a summer of balancing the books.

With our biggest asset (Dack) not being sellable because of his injury, it will probably mean one or two off Lenihan, Travis or Arma having to be sold to help balance the books.

After that we are looking at freebies, loans and signing up and coming players from lower leagues.

We don't have the money for a major facelift for the squad.

Balancing the books is impossible unless we were able to flog players for some £20million+ each season.

Sadly, I think we are financially goosed.

The three players you mention are decent but NOT PL players.

We really are in a mess and given the impact of coronavirus on worldwide economies, it would be no surprise if the Raos did not call time on their, IMO, disastrous venture into English football.

I was talking to a former colleague of mine this week who is a corporate insolvency specialist with one of the 'big boys' and he fears for the football industry in particular.

I think Rovers are more vulnerable now to financial insolvency and collapse than they ever have been in their history.

Newcastle were sniffing round re signing Armstrong in January so it wouldn't be a surprise if he left and I suspect we'd get upwards of 8 million form him, Lenihan was interesting Sheff United. I don't think there will be much money sloshing round from the PL downwards can't see any championship clubs spending. It will be free transfers exchanges and loans across the board Mercers apocalyptic scenario could be applied to every EFL club most of which don't have billionaire owners ( albeit disinterested ones )

Is Armstrong good enough for a Premier League team, even for Newcastle? They do need a striker but they have Dwight Gayle who comes up short and if you put him in the Championship he gets you 20 plus goals. Armstrong for all of his wonder goals and his pace is not at this moment a prolific scorer in terms of getting tap ins and scruffy goals.

Seems like a 2+2 because hes a Geordie but id be a little surprised.

Likewise I am unconvinced that Sheffield United would maintain an interest in Lenihan. He wouldnt get into the team over Egan in the middle of their back 3 and he certainly is not capable of playing the overlapping outside centre back role due to his lack of ability on the ball.

Definitely think that wed open to selling Armstrong, Dack, Lenihan, Travis and Nyambe not sure how many if any are capable in the Premier League. Also its obvious that it will be scraping the barrel in terms of recruitment. This could be the summer more than ever when Venkys disinterest and illogical way of working could be a real hindrance. Play off chance over and obviously safe with 5 games to go. No money. Teams releasing players in what will be a crowded market. Yet needless red tape means we are lagging behind. We have no contracted goalkeepers, then are desperately short of quality at CB, LB and out wide and im unsure if we can sign all of those.

No i don't think he is (AA) but Newcastle did register an interest in Jan that was rebuffed by the club, I do not think any our stars are PL quality Travis and Nyambe still have a lot to learn. I don't think Lenihan is good enough for the PL either the summer recruitment is going to be grim

Thats before Maximan put the burners on and started looking the part. When you think of Almeron , Maxi, etc....Armstrong's pace isnt so interesting....even the slower players in the premier league are same as Armstrong

Suspect this window will be far more about who goes out than who comes in.

If Mowbray stays then I predict a dramatic fall off in our currently uninspiring mid table performance irrespective of who comes in or goes out.

On the pitch, if we're to progress we HAVE to keep hold of Nyambe, Lenihan, Travis, Dack and Armstrong. How do people expect us to thrive if we sell one or more of those?

Devil's advocate mode: would we be better off keeping them and risking FFP sanctions of being unable to sign anyone for a short period and relying more heavily on youth alongside than losing them and bringing in more dross as replacements?

A quality first choice keeper is also a must.

Wouldn't be too disappointed to see anyone else go and I'd be particularly keen to offload Mulgrew, Bennett,  Evans, Williams and Gallagher. I certainly wouldn't give Graham, Samuel or Smallwood new deals either. Conversely I'd like to see whether a new manager could get a tune out of Brereton, Chapman, and Holtby.

Bottom line: we need a dynamic, progressive manager who can oversee a massive turn round in personnel and integrate youngsters like Wharton, Magloire, Rankin Costello, Buckley, Butterworth into becoming first team regulars alongside the five crown jewels and one or two experienced hands after all the deadwood is shipped out.

Will Mowbray be shipped out or any of this happen? Probably not. It'll be crown jewels out, contract extensions or new deals for the rest all round, bit more dross in and more youngsters sent out on loan.

Nah, I'm pretty confident we can sign 6 or so CMs and strikers to fill those roles.

If we are looking for a winger, here is our guy :

Philip Zinckernagel

He is playing excellent for the team that is dominating the Norwegian League at the moment, he was also very good last year. His contract ends in december this year.

Who’s buying our players? Not many are PL quality and who in the Championship will have spare cash for fees?
