Project "Big Picture"

Attempt at Reorganisation of Premier League by Manure and Liverpool!

Just heard a snippet on Sky News. They want EPL to be reduced to 18 clubs-----2 relegated, playoff for 3rd place involving 16th Premier League team.

League Cup to be abolished. More voting power to go to "Top Six"

Need 14 club's support to get it through.

Wonder if that's why Rashford was on front page of Sun other day. All part of a PR game. That club don't do anything charitable without a self serving reason. Not surprised they would try to exploit the Coronavirus situation either. Liverpool not much better.

‘6 of the top 9 clubs can veto a takeover of another club’. Disgusting.

A compromise deal to stave off a breakaway franchise (no relegation) division? Trouble is these rules try to operate alongside a competition and they don’t work because the money gap stops it being competitive.

TV money (and clubs’ reliance on it, first for greed and now for survival), coupled with the exclusion of the working man’s game, have destroyed football.

An 18 club top flight has been mooted for a while - wasn’t there also an 18 club second tier too? That leaves 56 clubs fighting for survival. That’s the real bigger picture here. What happens to them? The top teams can blame the pandemic and a form of natural selection but many of them are only propped up by TV money themselves. Meanwhile TV execs see the smaller teams as collateral damage in their need to shrink football to make the money go far enough.

In parallel the predicted end to obscene transfer fees hasn’t yet materialised, which should have been the biggest change but is instead being protected to maintain the gravy train.

Football is broken. The 72 clubs should be voting to end ties with the other 20. No access to relegation to their league. No FA Cup access. The England team should ban PL players from being involved. Watch the PL product eat itself. FIFA should only be dealing with the FA so Champions League places would go to EFL Champions. The FA and EFL have more power than they think but seem to be happy to sell out themselves and wind up their members rather than take on the PL.

All part of the globalisation model that has resulted in this pandemic in the first place. Brexit and Trump are/were the fight back by conservatives who want their toys back. A valiant last stand that will die out with the baby boomer generation. Sadly football doesn’t have anyone standing up for it so it is becoming extinct. The next evolution will be unlikely to have anywhere near 92 professional teams.

Will Rovers survive? Waggott would certainly blame the fans if we don’t but you only have to look at how well Burnley have done, with less resources, to see who the real villains are. (Clue: it’s the people we should be grateful to over on the Facebook groups).

A bit more about the proposal.

https://www.football365.com/news/liverpool-man-utd-drive-project-big-picture-premier-leageue-control

Rick Parry is supporting this in his role as EFL Chief Executive. One of the proposals is to start the season later so clubs can maximise revenue from overseas trips. The big brother of the PL will pretty much control everything.

True colours and all that.

Project Self Serving more like. I'm sick an fed up with these suits trying to mess about with our game, earlier this week it was Man City proposing B teams. The powers that be at these clubs quite simply don't understand English football and what makes it great and they seem hell bent on destroying great longstanding clubs and leagues.

As for Rick Parry the man is a disgrace and should be immediately removed from his position by the EFL clubs. How he is still in position after what has already occurred under his watch is beyond me.

This looks absolutely horrendous.

Basically a bunch of short term bribes so essentially the top six clubs can control the game.

Transparently awful.

As pointed out above these proposals will require 14 Premier League clubs to vote in favour. I doubt if that will happen.

It appears that this is being driven by Liverpool; interesting to see what the likes of Klopp and Dalglish will say; you'd like to think they will be against it.

the real aim of the project is an end product of a closed premier league, with maybe a franchising model which is reviewed every 5 seasons, they introduced it in rugby league and the game went to the dogs because for everybody bar the top 4 of leeds, wigan,st helens and warrington, there was nothing to play for,you could`nt win the title and could`nt get relegated, most  games were  meaningless

Headline figure 250 million

Smallprint - taken from future tv revenue and financed through a loan so no doubt the EFL will be paying the interest too...

Of course Klopp won't be. The bloke hate's the English game and has shown a lot of disrespect to it ever since he arrived.

It seems a pretty cynical attempt to use the crisis to stitch up the top flight.

If it came to it you would hope the government would intervene.

What powers do the government have to intervene ?

Absolutely @joey_big_nose, THIS government would NEVER allow the monopolisation of one of our most precious and valuable industries for the benefit of the super rich.

Just don’t see it

👀👀👀

Great post there @Stuart. Radical ideas, love it.

He's said nothing about FUP so why would he say anything about this? Not to mention disparaging Jack in his (latest) autobiography.

Who even is the big 6 now?

I missed the memo that put Spurs above the likes of Everton/Barcodes/Spam/Villa

“Pushing Leicester all the way a bit that once” has done wonders for their standing in the game.

What did he say that was "disparaging Jack."

Did the former Liverpool CEO Rick receive a mandate from the EFL clubs or is he just using his own initiative...? Hmmmm...🤔

Same powers that they have to tell pubs to shut at 10.00pm or to close all together.  They have an 80 seat majority so they can soon sort out the Premier League, if they want to that is.

With Man U involvement, it should be called

The Big 16th

or

The Big 6-1
